2001 Thoughts

Just thinking out loud here (and to get everyones mind off the TTR) In the news section it was reported from some "high ranking official" that "change the look of the park." Then the "boardwalk/waterfront projects" popped into my mind during the power tower shoot last week. If they took out everything west of the Giant Wheel; the arcade, aquatic stadium, moved Ocean Motion, Correal Courtyard, and the Grand Pavillion they could have a *TON* of room and make an entire new midway. The lake side could be the "boardwalk" stuff, and the bayside could be flat rides, games, and attractions.

The could have even more room if they moved the employee caf, marketing offices, wardrobe, employee housing (gold dorms) and the maintenance buildings either off point or to a different spot on point. Then clear out the shaded area back there between the Scrambler and the marketing dept. and clear out the Peanut's Playground and the front of the park could fit atleast two more coasters up there and not even touch the land that the giant wharehouse, I mean Disaster Transport now sits.

That is just one quarter area of the front of the park... and people think there is a space problem.

Remember CP's history! I don't think they will ever demolish the main arcade, even though they need to do something with that eyesore. That was one of CP's main attractions a while ago with a lot of history for the park. I would like them to restore it to its original look and maybe use it for something else!!!

Chris
Remember CP history! I'm talking about the Grand Pavillion and the not the Coliseum.

Dan why would they do that much stuff? Read your second paragraph over, I dont think they would move all that stuff off the Point, it would be a large mess for the employes getting to the point and back to their "employee caf, marketing offices, wardrobe, employee housing (gold dorms) and the maintenance buildings". If they were to keep it on the Point were would they put all of those buildings? Also I dont think they would trash the Peanut's Playground area ether. Just my thoughts, sorry that we dont agree.
Peanut's Playground is like a ghost town, besides there is a whole other spot in the park for the kiddies to play it's called Camp Snoopy. I think it makes sense because first King Arthur's Court then Peanut's Playground.
Sounds good to me! That area is in need of a good face lift.

I think it sounds like a good idea, that can put all the employee and maintnance stuff behind Mean Streak, where they have a whole lot of room, and it would still be on 'The Point'.

I wouldn't want them to put that stuff behind the Mean Streak. That's some prime lakefront property that would make a beautiful new area of the park, it deserves better than some offices and maintenance buildings.
Maybe they will buy the mainland property where those ware houses where torn down.

When they say "change the look of the park" I think in terms of "changing the look of the whole park" and not one area.

"Magnum + Prozac= Millennium Force
Maybe they should have been more specific. ;)

That could mean that they are going to paint all the midways and queues florescent orange. :)

I think they mean one area. Nothing in the history of CP has changed the look of the entire park.

Pete, your right about it being prime property, but it seems that access back to that area from the rest of the park would cause problems, with the Mean Streak, road, campgrounds, other buildings, and the bone yard. Plus, I think the front of the park is really missing something. It is the first imppression of the park you get. If Cedar Point did change the entire look of the park, I think it would be a good change, because none of the designs in the park reall flow throughout the entire park .

I don't see they would need to destroy the old Grand Pavilion. If you look at it, it's far enough from the beach and when it was built, it was built to complement the beachfront. Plus, I don't believe the park will destroy it's oldest existing building, and again it's not in the way.
Just my 2 cents...

I was just making observations from what I saw while riding Power Tower. Like P&D has prooved with Raptor and MF they can fit a coaster inside any footprint. I'm just saying that there is plenty of room in the front of the park. I just wish that they would put a few more major rides in the front of the park to balance out the crowds.

My advice: get on Space Spiral and see if you can find the inverted "L" shape right in front of you when you consider my removal theories.

Is that L really big enough for anything large scale such as a B&M, Intemin, or woody?

(I got pictures of the "L" from SS. if anyone would like to see them feel free to E-mail me.)

I agree, that "L" shape would be perfect for a floorless or launch or both combined.
Boomerang!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Would you stop with the Boomerang already??? There are many things that Cedar Point will get before they think about getting a Boomerang... sorry to dissapoint. Bottom Line: The capacity on Boomers is awful.
All boomerangs aside, Cedar Point could use a good backwards coaster.

Oh and Dan, what where those "signs" you mentioned in a previouse thread? You said to wait untill you could get the pictures up?
