2007 TTD status: Day to Day

bholcomb's avatar

btw adam it ran like crap most of the week last week. Mon - Wed it was down more than half of the day each day.

^No it didn't.

Can't help that mother nature brought some rain to the park as well.

Wednesday can probably be attributed to weather, but it was definitely down mechanical on Monday and Tuesday for a bit of the day.

I was there Monday and yes it shut down from 1:30 to 6:15, but also stayed open for almost a hour after close.

I thought it rained on Tuesday, but I don't really like thinking back these days. Graduation is on the horizon. :)

Whatever it comes down to, CP has been doing a fantastic job figuring out the many bugs that plague the ride and has shown some outstanding progress over the years. Can its uptime now justify its constant downtime in the past? I think so, but that's just me. :) *** Edited 5/20/2007 10:44:31 PM UTC by Gomez***

Tuesday was about 90 degrees out and it didn't rain until after close or really close to close. It was down during the afternoon for long enough that they kicked everyone off platform and out of line.

TTD didn't have as much down time today as when I was there Monday. I didn't see any trains on it until close to 11. Not sure how great it ran but I do know it had some short intervals of down time. I don't know the reasons. All I know is that I was two trains away from my first front-seat ride when it went down. After waiting an hour and a half, we decided to definitely wait for it to come back up, took about ten minutes. We were the last train to go before it went down for another thirty five minutes, yes we got to sit in the train for 30 minutes. Around 1:30 or so. Can't tell you how it ran the rest of the day, but everytime I thought to look, it seemed to be running.

Hmm.....I think I need to be around Dragster more often. She seems to run fine whenever I'm around.:)

Was Dragster running at all on Monday (21st)? I checked the Cleveland cam a few times and didn't see a single train.

Adam, what kind of grade would you give Dragster so far this year? Seems to be more downtime than usual??

I'm worried about the status for my trip this coming Monday and Tuesday.

^And I thought we all agreed that TTD was male. :)

^But then I wouldnt love her soo much.;)

lol
Seriously though, I'm not sure what to say. It just seems Dragster's having some trouble starting the season. She did the same thing last year and then around a week or 2 after opening weekend, she ran great.

Any reports for yesterday and today? I've been having troubles keeping up with the cleveland cam as I cant watch it through the schools filter and it seems to be touchy right now. Though the times I have managed to catch it, I didnt see any trains launching.

Everytime I checked the cleveland cam "he" was running very well today. It'd be nice to get confirmation from someone who was at the park but maybe they had him down for maintenance monday which is why he ran so well today.

I was at the park early today (for JCC) and after a few rides on MF, we went over to TTD to see if we could get on (I still have not ridden it this season!) There were people up in the station and trains were loaded, but they had the queue closed due to the ride being broken down for some reason. A few minutes later they finally launched a half loaded train that barely made it over the top. They then started letting people in, but it was another 15 minutes (at least?) before they launched another train.

I could not wait around (only went to the park for JCC hour), so not sure how it ran after that. But definitely a slow start.. We walked over to Raptor at about 9:55am and there was barely anybody riding it (maybe 2-4 people per train). We walked right onto the front seats, no wait. Unfortunately we only got one ride before huge swarms of people were let in at 10:00am. If we had known TTD was not running smoothly, we would have gone straight over to Raptor and ridden it five times in the front seat instead!!!

TDD was better today than Sunday morning when I was there--on Sunday it didn't even open until 11am.

Well as far as Monday (5/21) is concerned, I was told that it ran for the first couple of hours that the park was opened. When my group got there at about noon, the ride was down. We walked past the station and the operators were cleaning the trains.

Going to the entrance of the ride, we asked the ride host would it open today, her response was, "most likely not."

So, to say the least, the weather was beautiful, all the other rides were great, barely a wait at all. But for Dragster, another day of no operation.

If your not having fun, what are you having? Have Fun !!!

TTD 120, I think a little while back we were discussing how Dragster has yet to hit 1 million riders in a season. I think you need to be a ride-op in the future. Dragster would have no problem hitting 1 million guests :) (Maybe even 2)

You know I keep telling them that but I they wont let me because Im "Too far from the park" and "Arent the proper age to stay at the dormitories" and blah blah blah. :)

Give Dragster another week or 2 and I'll bet he'll be up and running just like last year.

I was there Monday and Tuesday, Monday it was open in the morning only sending 6 per train, but it was down longer that it was up that day. Tuesday it seemed to run a lot better was open most of the day with a few periods of downtime that I saw. It was sending full trains by about noon, and really seemed to be going over the top really well.
Monday morning I thought I was going to get a rollback but we just made it over, seem like we were up there for a long time!

I was there from Sunday the 20th through Tuesday and it was not 90 degrees on Tuesday it was 76. It also did not rain at all on Tuesday. Maybe in Sandusky but not at CP.

Finally it was down on Monday between 2:00 - 6:15. Tuesday it was down about 4 times during the day for around 15 - 30 minutes each time.

Just my opinion...way too many sensor issues seemed to cause the problems. I only say that because on Tuesday I saw one of the mechanic's replacing one of those light green thingy's you see all over the ride.

Did you happen to look at the date he posted that? He was referring to the previous Tuesday the 15th.

Those sensors are called a 5 way sensor, very important to the ride running correctly.

The 5 way is just pointing out that the induction loop points in 5 different directions: Up, down, right left and on the end. In reality there are multiple different induction sensors used but most look the same on the outside. Some rides have different size and shape sensors too. If the maintenance guy that replaces the sensor does not put the right one in, it will not work.
