My only complaint with Corckscrew is that stupid little support/bump in theseat that goes right between my shoulder blades. That is the reason I don't ride it. Blue Streak probably has a shortline because of the dead end and people being too lazy to walk over there for a "little" coaster. It's my favorite, it's awesome and if anyone claims otheriwse I will simply put my hands over my ears and La La La I can't hear you...After they open up that midway next year it might get more traffic which won't benefit me any. I think many just don't care for rough coasters in general. I don't think Magnum is much rougher than it was new, I think most peoples' expectations have changed. They've been spoiled by coasters like Millennium.

How to make Corkscrew feel smooth in 3 easy steps:

1)Go to Kings Island

2)Ride Vortex

3)Go back to Cedar Point and ride Corkscrew

Now Corkscrew feels really smooth.

I don't think it is big enough of a ride to justify re tracking it or rebuilding it. It is also one of the most reliable rides in the park and still gets good ride numbers, esp. on weekends. Plus having worked it a few times this season, I can say that it is really fun to pop those pedals.

Well it is an amusing memory anyway: took a friend to Cedar Point - she had never been to an amusement park nor did she recall ever riding a roller coaster. Since I thought I might only get her on one I started with Millennium Force (go big or go home.) Waiting in line she says "I'm more scared to ride this than I was to lose my virginity."

After a fair amount of screaming during the ride we got off and immediately got back in line to go again.

Best experience was just getting to go. I've had a lot of unfortunate things happen and wasn't sure I'd even make it to the park this year. 2016 promises to look much better than this year. My only regret is that I never did meetup with anyone from the forums here, although I'm fairly confident I spotted Thabto on closing day.

Agreed. I would love to see Vortex removed for a huge B&M floorless.. Or something along the lines of Smiler or Blue Fire (http://rcdb.com/4074.htm) to replace it.

I think everyone needs to remember that all rides have a finite life span. Parks will make decisions based on whats best for the business. It's not that the park hates "history" or "nostalgia" its just they like making money and staying open more.

My favorite experience was doing the Coaster-camp-out with my friends. We had the ERT in the evening and then in morning the next day. When It came time to camp, me and my friends were up until 2 in the morning talking and laughing about silly things. It was really cool hearing the crickets chirping behind or in the rides in the distance. I'm definitely doing it again next year.

Glad I decided not to run over to the kind of doppelganger of yours that I saw. I wasn't sure enough that it was you, since I only know your face from your picture on the forums.

Although I didn't go to cedar point this year, I also had the fortune of riding the beast for the first time and it lives up to its name. Something I can't say about X2 which I also rode for the first time this summer, but was very dissapointed.

As for magnum, I'm sure we won't see that going any time soon. It's still a decent coaster. Possibly new trains in the future to make it more comfortable... but that's about it.

1. You got rid of Super Himalaya, it could be relocated, but I don't see why, that literally takes up barely any room
2. Also a set of bathrooms
3. Power Tower has a set of four screw compressors next to the trim brake on the brake run of Corkscrew, I don't see those getting removed.
4. I don't see on point maintenance getting removed, this argument has gone on before, and I think it'd be dumb to remove them entirely. Plus, where would you want them relocated. They already are in a pretty decent central location in the park.
5. Laundry could get moved, but again, where would you put it. The only other very large backstage area was DT, and now that's been cleared out for the most part except for games and I think cash control
6. It barely takes up room again. Between the cost of it's removal and other buildings, I don't think there's enough there to remove and relocate services, utilities, and other items for that small of land for another coaster of similar size.

Bullet points one and two are irrelevant seeing as thought Super Himalaya and the bathrooms are still in the picture above. Again, it was showing what land could be available. I hate when people scrutinize another's ideas or posts with a huge list of bullet points as to why that idea won't work.

First of all, if you don't want your ideas scrutinized, it's probably advisable to not share them publicly.

Secondly, the area you covered does, in fact, eliminate Super Himalaya. Matterhorn is the one you left untouched.

As for Super Himalaya or whatever, I looked over that thinking it was part of the corkscrew... But even if that stayed there, there's plenty of room. Again, just showing possible future land. No need to get defensive.

Corkscrew likely won't go anywhere because of its iconic status, but no one ever said it won't be refurbished. I can actually see this even more than before now, as I forgot that SFMM was renovating Revolution with new trains. Why not something similar for Corkscrew?

No matter what trains they use, a cell phone will still hit a guest like a cinder block if it falls from the top of a corkscrew :)

Eventually all rides will see the chopping block. Maintanence costs, ridership, general need to improve areas of the park will make it happen. Will Corkscrew be removed for 2017? Probably not, but it will one day be removed. Rides don't last forever. Enthusiasts see things differently as parks do. What we see as iconic or classic the park may see as a budget nightmare.

It was a poor analogy on my part back then, fact of the matter is if a phone becomes dislodged and ends up headed towards the ground, someone's having a bad day.

But I still think Corkscrew has plenty of years ahead of it. It got painted in 2011 and a good bit of refurb then too. One train got extensive rehab during the season there for about a week. Then the trains cycle every other year with one off and I'd bet gets overhauled and obviously doesn't have operational hours on it. I think they'll crank a good bit of life out of her for quite some more time.

Can anybody confirm which trains on Corkscrew operated last season (as in the 2014 operating season). Since the blue one wasn't on this year, I would assume it was on last year.

Fun fact, TTD's gold train has been sitting behind Dragster's maintenance fence (the one directly to the right when you walk into the entrance queues) since the beginning of Halloweekends. Maybe we'll see a rotation of trains on TTD next year as well. Or perhaps we'll see the gold train used for parts again.
