They don't let 17 year olds live in Housing anymore, even those that have graduated. I heard from a friend who worked in HR that they were going to stop doing it.

i knew a few 17 year olds that lived in housing this past season so unless its new for this season they still do allow it

No they changed it for this year, I guess they had a lot of problems with the 17'ers

Ok so when do they start calling my status says my application is currently on review by our hiring managers for rides?

Thanks

The deal with the 17 year olds is as follows:

It's based on a case by case basis.

It will be determined at the time of interview.

Jared: Mine says that as well.

JeffCoaster that's not what I heard, but if you know someone in HR that I don't then you probably know more. I know back in Oct-Nov they had so much trouble with minors getting into housing they were just going to eliminate it period. No minors were to be allowed in housing at all, but I guess you might know someone or something I don't know.

my and my roommate says the same thing...which is weird because managers the other day didn't have access to it a few days ago...either they have access now and are waiting for the meeting to do anything or its just doing that automatically for the first choices?....who knows...but I guess we'll all find out soon enough

You'll have to wait 14 days from the time you applied. After that is done you will have a form on Jobnet that looks like another application but it's not. That is your contract. You'll get a call from the area in which you applied and you'll talk with that area manager. Then after that you'll have to wait awhile and then once they figure out a place for you, it will show your contracted dates and where you've been placed.

That will only happen if they hire you. Usually for new-hires they will call the people they are interested to feel them out, and if they choose to hire you, a contract will be produced. It's best practice to go online and accept your contract so that they can plan expecting you as an employee, rather than not accepting online and then they kind of keep you in limbo. After you're hired and a contract is produced it will list a location that they placed you at.

Me too, but I would want them to be screened for weapons first.

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

Ok... So I called HR again today. This time it was an absolute no for 17 year olds. It would happen my year... So I told them I could come July 26th- September 20th... What do you guys think?

Unless you're happy with getting less than minimum wage and only a few weeks of bonus dollars, I wouldn't bother...

People have started late before, if you could manage to do all the weekends they would probably hire you. But without the weekends its iffy. In the last few years they have been forced to lower their bar lower and lower, last year they started doing background checks which is an attempt to raise the bar again, but with their current wage package who knows what's going to happen.

Aww, I wish I could fill out an application!! Im married and have 2 skids = (step children) preventing any out of state move. Grrr! Yeah I have a job of 3 years, but I miss working for CP greatly. Maybe not everyone had as good as an experience as I did, but I really miss it. A lot. At least I know what I would do if I ever got divorced! (But in all seriousness I am happy in my marraige, so maybe when those step children are 18, lemme see........I'll be 36. If I don't ever go anywhere in life and ever make any good money I would totally move to Ohio and work at the point... Will I ever grow up and have a big girl job? Well I certainly hope so, but if worst comes to worst and my life just sucks, I will find happiness at CP.) Im nuts.

I don't know if I should call them next week or just wait for them to call me lol

This may have changed but this is what I knew about the hiring process. When it begins the area managers decide in a meeting which returning employees they want to keep. Plus determine supervisors at each location. You will know whne this has happened in rides because TL and ATL bragging will begin. The other returning employees are basiclly drafted by whomever wants them. Normally your previous manager has first dibs on you.

Then it's on to the computer for the new hire Pool (plus the unwanted returners). A list of names pops up on the screen and managers look at it. As the managers pop in on your application, whomever is last to look on you will be the name posted on that jobnet page. Managers can put a lock on your application to conduct the interview process. When I was there they had 7 days from the moment they lock you to decide if they want you. During the time you are locked, no other manager can look at your app. If the seven days passes, you are once again unlocked and back into the pool. They limit how many people a manager has locked so each manager doesn't try to take everyone. Be patient. Trust me when I say they want to get as much hiring done as possible early. Nothing is worse than know your going to be short staffed from the beginning of the season. But it does take time!

Then there is the no shows. Almost 30% of the people hired don't show up for whatever reason. Then there are the people who shouldn't have been hired in the first place. I admit I had a guy show up drunk to process in. I heard about that for a second. I even had wrote during his interview over the phone he was risky. I was right, but I was asked by my boss why I even bothered hiring him. He had confirmed (I checked) experience in working as a cook. I never had intention on him being in the public eye. Reading people over the phone isn't the easiest thing in the world to do!

As for people they won't hire, a big span between jobs is a red flag, a conviction of a crime isn't good, not being clear on the phone will hurt, not returning messages left on your phone is a bad sign. Applying in years past and no showing up is another flag. Those are the big ones. The phone interview answers are also a major factor. They are recorded (typed) and logged with your application on the computer! So if you get called by more than one manager, keep this in mind! Also Managers at hiring events also have to type all your answers in. So don't change your story, they will know about it.

Keep in mind that everybody picks either rides, or a serving or bartending position. Young people want rides and smart people want the highest paying jobs. There aren't that many to go around. Each department has time frames in which to pick you out. Your 1st, 2nd, 3rd, picks are what determines who sees your app first. After a couple months all the applications remaining will be looked at by everyone in the remaining pool. 20 fulltime employees are hiring 5k employees. It takes time! So you might hear from a department you didn't ask for!

Once a manager decides to hire you, HR does your background check. This takes a couple days. If you pass that your status page will change to hired, and you can see your contract that will be mailed to you.

Make sure all your dates are correct! While I know people don't care about the bonus as much anymore, you can lose it just because of an error of dates! While they ask for the contract signed and returned as soon as possible, it's not a race to get in back. They just want to get your files ready. So if your not sure if you need a day or two off during the summer, please make sure before signing anything. Or forever hold your peace!

Anyways this is how it was a few years back. I doubt they changed too much. Good Luck to all who apply!
