Cedar Point 2013

The kicker are markings like these that have a nail in the center. (I found 3 of them)

If my guess is correct, those are for a theodolite. For those who may not know what a theodolite is, it's used for surveying in construction as well as other applications. They would use one to mark out many things. In our case, things like where footers go. Here's a neat little animation that shows most of what it's used for on a construction site....just to get an idea.

At my parents property, they have similar pins in the corner of their property to mark the land boundary that they own.

So they must certainly have some sort of plan for over there if those are used for surveying.

Get off my lawn, son. Most enthusiasts count rides with different layouts as two. We also list them separately in the CoasterBuzz database.

I was just going with the official stats. I'm an enthusiast as well and when asked about "Gwazi" I separate them. But officially it's all one "universal" coaster. So, just stating, if Cedar Point were to build a twin coaster like that, they would still claim it as "one". That's what I was trying to say. Nice Gran Torino reference though.

I think you're onto something Adam. Obviously something is going on in that area but it just isn't known.

About how far apart are those theodolite markings from each other?

Who are these officials? If we are talking about RCDB, I wouldn't call them official. If the park built a dueling coaster, they could claim it as 2 different coasters if they wanted. I guess if anyone would be in the position to decide, it would be Guinness if they get involved for a title. I never understood why dueling coasters like Dragon Challenge aren't counted as two. I certainly count them as two credits for my list.

^^ This is just what I found. There might be more.

Very interesting! Looks like it will definitely conflict with DT and Space Spiral. Possibley Troika too. Anyone know how busy those fast food places are over there? They seem like they are not too busy when I am in the park. So maybe they won't be missed if they were also needed to be removed for something. If a B&M were to take up that space, I would imagine that it would be difficult to cram it in with Space Spiral and those food places there.

And there is no telling what could be behind the fence in the backstage area ;)

Looks like were gonna have to turn to the employee's for more info on that. I bet Lemon Chill will know :D

I wonder if there's any chance of Space Spiral leaving the point. Obviously it's a pretty historic ride but I have yet to go to the park and have it operating. Maybe they feel they could go without it with WindSeeker now. If there is a coaster over there, it'll be interesting to see how SS fits into it. Regarding the food places over there, it is always dead. It is the forgotten corner of the park. Obviously if there is a new coaster over there, those food places will be the most busy in the park.

Looking at that picture above, a coaster would deffently fit in there nicely. I don't think the parking lot needs to be affected, there's plenty of space. That'll actually be a really nice area on the beach if it does happen.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

Everyone make sure to get those final farewells in with Space Spiral and Disaster Transport just to be safe. After all, our new CEO could be a serial roller coaster killer! ;) He likes picking off the rare family ones especially... ;) ;) ;)

You honestly think that's where it's from?

If this is the location of the next coaster or whatever, NO TREES will have to be removed! That would be a first!

Actually if Disaster Transport is removed after this season, he would make almost everyone on this fan site happy since the majority of people on here don't like Disaster Transport.

Maybe they will plant a new tree just to remove it ;)

Basically, the markers layout the entire disaster transport plot.

I saw some of these pin's last year over in the frontier path. I wonder what they were mapping out over there? Does everyone remember all of the markings in and around the TC area? I wonder how many years in advance they would begin using the pins and working on the layouts?

No coaster will ever be too fast or too tall!

I have always heard that they plan around 5 years ahead.
