Cedar Point announces plans for new family rides, changes to Camp Snoopy, Hotel Breakers renovation

While sad that the Gemini Games are going, this addition is just what the park needed.

I'm pretty content with the announcement. After being so let down about the Dinosaur thing, I think any announcement would satisfy me.

We rode similar rides at both Kings Dominion and Kings Island this summer and let me tell you, for some reason the Flying Eagles really got me dizzy! I can ride any spinny ride (witches wheel, gravitron, etc) but that ride threw me off for almost an hour after riding it. My son was really throwing the wings out, maybe that's why. Besides that the ride has an extremely slow loading time so I don't see riding it anytime soon. All in all, they should be easy rides to maintain and won't receive the complaints that they have been getting about reliability (Windseeker).
ps- I think they should have named it Lake Erie Seagulls :)

I am really looking forward to the Breakers improvements but hopefully they don't jack up the rates.

Yeah, the Gemini midway has pretty much looked the same to me for the last 35 years when I first rode the Gemini as a kid in 1978, so if the final product matches the renderings somewhat, I'll be thrilled. I've always thought the blacktop was out of place. I'm curious to see what type of food goes into that new restaurant. Also I see that the kiddie bumper boats will be removed (no big loss) along with Space Age, and rock spin and turn (the 2 little rides). What will become of those, to another park?
What's up with the little bridge and water in Camp Snoopy in the rendering? Will that be added?
I'm glad to see a midway that hasn't changed much in 35 years getting some much needed attention. Now...if we can tackle the other one that hasn't been touched in 50+ years (Blue Streaks) maybe in 2015, this would pretty much round out all of the areas of the park recently that have been improved. Tony, can you "pull some strings" and maybe get a Cosmic Chaos ride added behind the Arcade and get rid of that gawd-awful 3 point basketball game? That'd make my day. Nice job on the video, btw.

Assuming the entirety of the Gemini arcade goes, I just hope the games and skeeball finds a home elsewhere in the park; it does seem like the arcade areas are being somewhat consolidated. That leaves what, Frontiertown and Coliseum as the two remaining arcades, right?

Aside from that, solid choices all around, and I do hope that the Breakers exterior renovations do SOMETHING about the bland monstrosity that is Breakers Tower, though I'm not sure what you could remotely do to it that wouldn't go under the "lipstick on a pig" category.

^ That little bridge and flowing creek is already there, and is a lovely shady area. I hope the new entry to Jr G. takes advantage of this cool area.

If you google street view this area you can see quite well how nice it is.

I love the announcement. Even though I'm a teenager in high school and love coasters, I feel like the changes and new additions coming next year couldn't have been better. Finally the park is starting to build back up its collection of true family rides, and hopefully this is only the beginning. Not only due Pipe Scream and Lake Erie Eagles look fun (I've never been on a Disk'O or Flying Scooters so I'll be sure to try them out!) but I like the other changes to Camp Snoopy such as Woodstock's Airmail and Wilderness Run. Plus I'm glad this area will get aesthetically updated. It's one of the most boring and outdated areas of the park, so I'm glad to see it get some love (next up, hopefully the Blue Streak midway!). Great job Cedar Point; I'm very impressed and can't wait to walk through the area next year to see many families having a great time together.

Disappointed. I trusted Cedar Point and this is what they did? Changing the name of Jr. Gemini? Poor move.

Everything else, I'm excited for and it's what the park needs. Looking forward to Pipe Scream. More for the younger audience, but with my cousin going to have his first visit next year, it's perfect timing.

Poor move? The name never made sense in the first place. As others have pointed out, the only relation to Gemini it has is its location.

This is the first chance I've had to chime in on this.

I love it.

I absolutely love it, and it reaffirms my belief that the park is in very good hands, and that Ouimet and John H. have the grand old ship headed in the right direction as McClure prepares to take over the helm.

I like the little touch of the lights strung back and forth across the midway, and I love the creative thinking in re-theming Jr. Gemini & Frog Hopper to breathe new life into Camp Snoopy.

Personally, I liked the video. It's just a family having fun together goofing off in celebration of their chance to be the ones to showcase the new rides.

God forbid.

Anyway, I can't wait to see the new area come together.

You know what this park needs? About 7 seasons of this. All around the park.

Promoter of fog.

^^The name has always bothered me.

1. Jr. Gemini is an entirely steel coaster.

2. It's not a racing coaster.

I prefer the new name, it will make more sense and will fit into the area.

Well, I got to break the news here at 5:30am and then I have been working ever since.

Tony - Great job on the video. The family was great, I hope they are personally happy with the final product, because they did a great job. I hope they get some great perks for doing it.

No one has mentioned the lighting of the midway. I hope that stays in the final product and isn't just part of the rendering. I have always found it down right scary to be in frontier town at park closing and have to walk back along the Gemini midway in total darkness. Popcorn lighting will give it a carnival/boardwalk look that I think will really make that midway "pop" at night. Tony tell me that is in the final plans?

This plan also passed the test with my 10yr old daughter. She thinks it is great and can't wait to ride the new rides.

Well done Cedar Point! Well done Tony - this beats the Gatekeeper announcement by a bunch and that was a much bigger deal. You did well.

The area looks nice. I appreciate the updating to Camp Snoopy as well. Wilderness Run will fit in great. I wish they replaced the duplicate rides [Frog Hopper, Balloon Race, Camp Bus] with new attractions. Is the Disko ride the same model located at Kings Island? The one at Cedar Point looks much more intense. The only thing I am not too crazy about are the capacities on the rides.

The Hotel Breakers rendering reminds me of Disney's Yacht Club with the colors and the facade. I appreciate the elimination of the outdoor staircases and late 90's awnings. I hope the lobby is rebuilt or totally refaced. It really does not fit in with rest of the buildings.

Also, the family in the video seemed to be very comfortable in front of the camera. The video fit well with the announcement.

Pipe Scream (and the other DiskOs) are not considered to be actual coasters, right? They just said it was on the news this morning. Is it considered a flat?

Looking forward to 2014! (My daughter did enjoy the bumper boats)

My only request: PLEASE, add landscaping or something around and underneath Woodstock Express. It looks like a coaster built over a dirt/weed pit.

I'm happy with the new additions of these two family rides. This closes the book for 2014 on the rumors of Mantis becoming a Floorless for another year.

Now we know why Tony put the webcam where he did.

Correct. The ride vehicle has a motor attached to it, so it does virtually no "coasting" at all.

I still say noone is joyed by the fact of not having to hear those horns and beeps and stuff from those rides in front of Jr Gemini...

Dear God that got annoying...fast

Corkscrew, Power Tower, Magnum, & Monster/ Witches Wheel Crew 2011

Hard to believe I am the first to say this, but I find the name of the family chosen for the announcement to be a little ironic.

Epic Faile!!!

I like the string lights that go across the midway (Mardi Gras feel). I hope that will really be the case and it's not just in the illustration. I think the two new rides are great additions and will liven up that area.
