Closing Day

Because when you do the math - even without knowing the exact figures - what they would have to pay the extra help (screamsters) would almost certainly be offset by the attendance it would draw.

Businesses, especially ones as well run as CF, tend to prefer making profit whenever they can (they're crazy like that).

Then by all means, show your proof :)

But seriously, don't worry about it !

If they thought the extra expense that comes with opening the haunts would be justified by whatever profit bump they project would result, they'd be opening the haunts.

Not necessarily - because we don't know if it's a money issue or not. It doesn't always have to be about dollars and cents. Like I said in the part of the post you didn't quote - maybe it's as simple as they just don't feel like screwing around with the haunts on the last day ... They could be very well kicking back, relaxing with a cold beer and saying, "yep, another great year and a big, fat, padded back account to show it!"

Besides, I'm sure you already know, "projections" are pretty much meaningless ... You need not look any further than your own fantasy football team for that.

Who knows why the haunts are open Fri-Sat, but not Sun?
But, we do know this Halloweekends season was eight weeks as opposed to the usual seven. So, the positive way to look at it is there were two extra days added, not one day taken away.

Which is essentially the same as:

If they thought the extra expense that comes with opening the haunts would be justified by whatever profit bump they project would result, they'd be opening the haunts.

In your world it's obviously the same. Not only that, we don't know how much of a profit they consider "profitable" ... Who knows how far over the top they want to go as to where they would consider it being worth while.

I guess what I should have said is that maybe they're satisfied with what they've already accomplished for the year, and whether it's projected or not, don't care about a 'bump' in profits.

I think "don't care about" is pretty much the same as "can't be justified".

As in, "they can't justify the extra expense/effort based on the projected extra profit" is the same as "they don't care projected effort enough to justify the extra expense/effort".

But really, I think it probably comes down to who comes to the park on closing day, when it's a November Sunday. I would bet that it's mostly enthusiasts who would show up regardless of whether or not the haunts are open.

Well I'm just one insignificant dude talking here and certainly can't speak for other enthusiasts - but for the sake of this hypothetical - I was definitely going to make the 250 mile, 3 and 1/2 hour drive for the final day until I found out ALL the haunts were closed ... Now I'm staying home and pout.

No you weren't. If you were truly an enthusiast, you'd either stretch to go Sat, or you'd realize that there's quite enough to do at CP without the haunts and go anyway.

I WASN'T ?!?! Stretch to go Saturday ?? Did you seriously just state (with a straight face) as to what MY intentions were/are ?! LOL

Not that I owe anyone an explanation, but Sunday, November 2nd happens to be the only day I can make it out there, thank you ! This isn't my first rodeo, son - I plenty 'realize' what CP has to offer. I also understand, am happy, and very content with the "quite enough" I got to do out there with the some 10 trips I made this past summer. Again, the whole idea (at least for me) of going this time of year is for the Halloween stuff, so spare me the ridiculous, "truly an enthusiast" BS !

1 Snickers? Methinks that is insufficient.

Quite possible. We'll know when he responds.

Back on topic - mid-level employees are hoping for plenty of guests, but expecting a light turnout because of the forecasted weather. The last time Cedar Point was open on and after Halloween, the turnout was very low the entire weekend, and the weather was actually very nice.

I was going to go Sunday, but no longer going due to financial difficulties. And 46 degrees is a little on the cold side.

Hi everyone. I plan on going Sunday, and wondered if it would be worth buying a fast pass. I don't mind paying $65, especially since tickets are only $30.

I plan from staying there from 11ish to 6 or 7pm.

Wait until you get there. No point in spending money on something you may not need. With temps in the mid 40's, I doubt it will be that busy.

Exactly. I'm just happy that if all goes as planned I'll be at Cedar Point in November. I'll be riding coastrs in November.

Planning on going Sunday. Renew my Platinum Pass and All Season Meal Deal. See what kind of 'sales' are occurring and get some rides in. Do my 8pm walk thru the park to the parking lot and see what's NOT gonna be seen for 6 months. That'll make it 24 trips to CP for 2014.

Tomorrow will be the 20th visit for me. 34 park visits in general. It was a good season.

NWLB...just ask about the popcorn..I'm sure they'll tell ya(or sell ya some)! This will be our 15th visit for 2014. It's great fun & better people watching than the mall! Even though 11/2 is closing day, I've been looking forward to it, just like any other visit.

Keep passing the fun along!

I'm hoping that the next time I go to the park after tomorrow is as an employee instead of a guest
