Contracts

I am just curious. Why does CP require employees to sign contracts? Is it part of a union or something? What advantages or disadvantages come with signing a contract? I might be out of date with this type of subject because I have never signed one in my life. When I think of contract I think of guaranteed money for a certain amount of time and you cant be employed anywhere else. Obviously this isnt the case with summer employment so please inform me about this.
No. The contract works with the BONUS program that Cedar Point uses to encourage employees to work their contracts out till the end.

For ever hour you work of your contract you get a dollar. So if you end up breaking your contract then you dont get your bonus at the end of your contracted dates.

Just an added bonus for employees.

Plus your contract specifies dates off you have requested for family or personal reasons. These also are when some employees actually find out where they will be working for the season. But 9 times out of 10 a full time manager will let them know where they are going to be placed when they hire them. Though on my first contract i wasnt contracted where that manager told me i would be but it didnt matter, i was just happy to be working there.
Good answer Rob, good answer. ;-) Also, contracts specify if you qualify for housing. They're also a disclaimer so Cedar Point can use your namesake and any photographs the company may take of you in their advertising. They pretty much have a list of like 10-12 (I can never remember) things in very small print that you sign to CP. Also, the parents of minors are required to sign their contracts. That helps to guarantee they are working with their parents consent and as somewhat guarantee on a mode of transportation.

Thats a pretty good benefit for CP employees. I am referring to the dollar for every hour worked. So for example if you sign to work the whole season you will get an extra check at the end of the season for the hours worked if you work the whole time?
I forgot to ask, is it mandatory to sign one if you want to work there?
Yes, you will not be hired without one. Though you can sometimes start or work after your contracted dates without having to sign another contract. This benifits the employee so that if they work their contract and want to work extra, but they end up having to leave for school early, they are still entitled to their bonus.

I know that sounded complicated sorry....
I thought contracts also state that you don't give out certain pieces of information about the park. I may be wrong, but this is what I've heard.

Homer Simpson: Will you stop your spontaneous cussing?
Bart Simpson: Hell yeah.
Yes it does. It also states that employees may be ask to take a drug test, agree to abide all rules and regulations (including grooming), a nominal charge is taken out of your weekly paycheck for those staying at housing, it allows cp to have the right to inspect housing units, cp won't be liable for workers comp on an injury that occured off duty, and that all cp property (including uniforms, ids, etc) must be returned upon termination (if not cp will have the right to deducted the charges from your last check)!!!!!!
