dragster theming

I totally agree with Tony. If they can be assured that the theming is going to stay on the vehicle, they'll reinstall it. If not, it's still a great ride.

I think theming DOES increase the enjoyment of a ride. I mean just look at Tower of Terror at Disney MGM, i love that ride. But if you were to just have the tower and no theming it would just be another average drop ride.
thats a good point Raptor1116
I know everyone is on the fence about the themeing but to say its unsafe is crazy..... the tires.. the same tires on real 330 MPH nitro fuelers that run within 15 feet of people at Norwalk raceway park can more than handle the strees from dragster. A top fuel car goes 0-330 MPH in 1/4 mile and in 4 and a half seconds.. i think the spoilers would be more of a hinderance due to drag.. but anyway the tires are not unsafe the axles can take the stress its the mounting.. which needs to be grade 10 or more for tensile strength and i am sure the engineers at intamin have more than researched this now that there was a problem. So there is really no reason that scientifically can be argued about the tires handling the g force or speed
.. except for the fact that there is alot of force from friction helping to hold the tires to the gound as opposed to the ones on the ride which were suspended in air with the exception of the axel.

Ok I am not saying the theming didn't look good but you guys act like you can't ride the ride because the theming is not on the ride. Tony I know they mean alot to the park but I would have to say if the park took them off last season for a reason than you can say pretty much for sure they will not come back. And my whole point of saying drop it was as you said "Will I enjoy the ride any less? No" is my whole point. Can you honestly compare the theming of Tower of Terror to Top Thrill Dragster. Tower of Terrow has the theming to and more excitment (sp?) to the ride. Where the Top Thrill Dragster main element is not the theming its the sure speed and height of this ride. To the general public who drive and fly to ohio just so they can ride it I am sure they didn't know the difference in the trains. I am sure they would be happy to know that there are more seats per train, even though its only 2 seats per train, which makes there wait less for this ride. As we all know that a short wait for this ride is a very good thing.

The two extra seats would be a great addition if only they actually used them. How often since they were installed did they actually use the entire last car - let alone the last row -- especially towards the end of the season?

Friction does not hold tires in place.. if anything they work against holding things in place.. friction=heat Heat= metal fatigue metal fatigue= breakage.. I drag race and know about that. but anyway there is not a scientific theory out there about those tires other than the axles were made of inferior metal. my Moser axles withstand more g's and 1000 horsepower for alot of runs but at the end of the season i order new ones due to sanctioning body safety regulations.... Never broke one yet either

Speedzone, i understand what your saying. Tower of Terror the theming is a MAIN part of the ride, while TTD's theming while it was nice and cool doesnt make or break the ride as does Tower of Terrors, and i agree with you on that. I just threw out the Tower of Terror example becasue you said that theming doesnt play a key role in the overall enjoyment of a ride. I guess you were just talking about Top Thrill Dragster then.
BirdofPrey really from what I saw they did use that last row often. Towards the end of the season they didn't as much but they still used it and I can say it will be used alot more this season. Which hopefully means dragster will close at a decent time so I am not going home at like 3am ;) For all of you who are gonna be like why would you be there until dragster closes. Well last year this store stayed open until dragster was closed for the evening.

Unfortunately, They will not be putting the tires back on the ride. They were an aerodynamic issue, and not to mention that they "caused problems" that warranted their removal.

Do tell us what your position is at the park, oh wise one.

AKA Cobraroller on Cbuzz

You dont need a position to see an heavy dragster tire fly of a rollercoaster. When you watch a giant tire get thrown bouncing past a small building, it just seems lik a "problem"

We should just put go kart tires on it. They would work. :)

So everyone one can make some since of what Adernaline is trying to say. You do not need a position in the park to see a heavy dragster tire fly off of a roller coaster. Seeing a giant tire go bouncing past a small building would seem like a "problem." Now if you would read around there are many reasons to why the theming was removed. Raptor323, I am assuming, made that comment because topthrilldragster was acting like he knew all the reason on why the theming was removed, and called him out on it.

TJohnson I like your idea. lol :)

If the theming is no big deal, then let's just put trains on the thing that are exactly like the ones on....... say for instance... the Cedar Creek Mine Ride.

Dragster..that's the whole idea and what they were marketing and advertising. None of the posts I read gave me the impression that Dragster sucks now because the theming for the most part has went down the crapper.

If the jist of it is all about a race car in the form of a drag...then do it right..

I was super before Superstew was cool!

I don't need no tires and a hoopajoob in the back to say the train looks like a dragster. Actually I was born with an imagination. :) Plus the front of the train is good enough.

It doesn't matter how it effects the ride. When I show people at school a picture of the ride with the theming on they say that looks a lot better that way. The ride is very cool and the theming not being there doesn't hurt it. But if you just want a fun ride then take out the christmas tree and the tower and the launch area, the speedometer, the sound effects before launching, the grandstand, and all the other theming effects that makes the ride what is. What I'm saying is, from a GP point of view the theming on the trains looked really cool and improved the whole image of the ride. That's why CP has nice landscaping and is nice and clean. People don't go to the park if it's not nice looking, it's the same thing.

The way the tires are connected to the trains may be a safty hazard but launching a 6 ton train to 120mph in 4sec. with 16 people in it could a safty hazard too. If they can do that then they can connect two tires to the trains without a problem. Without that theming on the back of the trains the ride will be forever missing something.

Just the spoilers back will be fine for me!

they add that special touch to the fins on the front of the trains.:)

"Are We There Yet?" May 8th that is.

You're an idiot to think they would even remotely think about reattaching the tires to the train. I'm sure people would be a little thrown off to ride it if they knew that a tire flew off before.

The spoiler I could see, but not the tires, not even when hell is cold and I can wear ice skates will they reattach those.

I don't know why everyone thinks the ride is missing theming. I mean you still have the Grandstands, the launch, the Christmas tree, which can be seen from all over the park. I think it's a fun ride without the spoiler and the tire affect. One way to look at it is, you don't have to wait as long because there's four extra seats. I understand where you guys are coming from though.
one word people...
