Event overload!

When I worked at the park in 2002, we had an employee campout on the midway concrete where the 10pm show is. As long as you bring lots of blankets, pillows, or even an air mattress, you won't even realize you're on the concrete. It was quite the experience.

If you bring anything less than an air mattress in that situation, you can pretty much guarantee that you will realize you are on the concrete.

Update on what we're doing: the grassy area that we set aside (inside Antique Cars) is now full. So, instead of just shutting the event off at capacity, we're offering "on the midway" camping for the remaining people who were chosen.

We are contacting those individuals this week and will be giving them the option.

Remember, even if you don't get chosen to camp, you can still take part in the ERT, as long as you're registered.

If you registered for a campsite and were not chosen, you don't have to register twice.

Thanks again for putting this event together. This is such a unique opportunity and is another reason why Cedar Point is so great--it cares about providing the best experiences to its guests and fans both during the normal day and for special events.

I received an email last week that I had won a campsite and I had to call back to confirm I was still attending. When I called today, it was confirmed that I would have have a campsite on the midway (concrete), which is fine with me, because I will still get to attend. We will just have to bring our air mattresses - I'm still excited that we get to camp in the tent, and the way I look at it is, if it rains that night, at least we won't wake up in the mud. :-)

I also will be camping on the concrete, but I don't even care! I wonder where? They say the "midway" but you would think it would be somewhere out of the way so we can set up before the park closes, and they probably want all the campers in relatively the same area. The area back by mean streak is pretty open and secluded from the rest of the park.

Yeah, I just called CP to confirm my tent site on the CONCRETE as well...oh well. It's all good. I have a good Therm-a-rest sleeping pad that works wonders. But, never have tried it out on concrete...it just feels like we'll be separated from all the other campers....

I haven't actually heard about anyone on this site getting a spot in the original camping area. When we all got our emails last week, it was the first I even heard of people getting confirmed. The cool kids are camping on the concrete I guess ;)

HAHA!! Coco...yeah!! We are too cool!! ^^^^^

My group has two sites in the grass area and one on the concrete so far. The park called about the grass sites, and emailed about the one on the concrete.

Don't give up hope yet. They're probably still sending emails.

I was lucky enough to get a spot in Antique cars. I can't wait!

I'm sure there will be people who don't want to camp on the midway or even people who cancel, so yeah, like TTD said, don't lose hope yet! I wonder how many total spots they are having.

Magnum-Man, send me a message if you didn't find a tent with room or get a campsite as we get closer to the event. I can accommodate you and your son in my boat - it sucks to sleep in the car.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Found out yesterday my wife, daughters, and I got a spot on the concrete. My oldest daughter and myself are all up for the concrete but my wife and youngest probably gonna bail and we'll have to take two different friends. Wimps are gonna miss out on a good time!

It's a pretty CRAZY thing waking up in the morning and the first thing you see when your open your eyes is MF.

Agreed! I was worried that the people I was planning to go with were going to bail too, but so far they are game. We'll see when it gets closer to the date how they feel about sleeping on concrete. I may be sleeping alone in my tent!

Got myself confirmed for this as well. I've got a tent site on the concrete as well, but planned to bring an air mattress so that should be fine.

Going to drive up from OK for this event. Should be fun.

We didn't get a site in the park but managed to get a site in Camper Village for the weekend. I would prefer a queen bed, air conditioning and cable tv over a night on the concrete any day.
