Going to the park alone?

I ride alone. Yeah. With nobody else. And you know, I admit it--when I ride alone, I prefer to be by myself.

Wait a minute. Now I'm confused. I thought you were addicted to Shoot the Rapids.

I am addicted to Shoot the Rapids, but lately Rougarou has taken over.

I used to go to the Breakers beach to hang out, study, meditate & read. Great place to get away from the chaos of home life. I enjoyed a meal & glass of wine at Fridays, then would take a short nap listening to the waves. Come to think of it, I should do that sometime this year. I do have a statistics class coming up I could prepare for.... Thanks for the question CPboy, you reminded me of a nice get away. :)

Today I went to the park alone for the first time ever. My kids were on an all weekend outing with cousins, it was too cold and rainy Saturday to convince my husband to go and I was concerned no rides would be up anyway with the wind. That left Sunday and he had to work. A friend of mine wasn't sure if she would be able to make it so I just told her text me if you get there. There's only so much time left in the season and I needed my fix so off I went. As soon as I got out of the car I felt this nagging feeling that I was forgetting something, in a sort of way I felt almost naked. And then there was some mom guilt. After I rode Millenium without listening to anyone bickering and fighting in line and whining that they didn't want to wait that long and then fighting over who gets to ride with mom the guilt subsided. It felt weird being the perpetual single rider not talking to anyone in line but I'm glad I went. Of course tonight I had to hear the you went without us whine.

I enjoy it sometimes. Only bad part is if you have to wait in line. Time moves much slower when you have nobody to talk to.

Man, people must hate going to parks with me then.... I hardly say anything in line.

Would you like that whine chilled? :-)

Especially back in the day, I usually did the park solo on family trips. My father's favorite "ride" was the nearest bench, my mother devoted her day to Fascination and french fries, my brother hit the arcades and I hit the rides. That was a gazillion years ago when phones had dials and were connected to a cord -- no mobile device to text and post on -- so I'd usually stick a paperback in my pocket and read while waiting in line.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

Time didn't move any slower with nobody to talk to than it does with my offspring fighting with each other the entire time I'm in line. Twenty minutes was still twenty minutes. It was a very quiet twenty minutes.

Hello Paisley, just curious, I was with my son at the park Sunday close to 7:00pm we were in the station at Mine Ride. There was a woman in the next line who was alone and was holding a book, she allowed a person to ride with her so the family could all ride. Was that you? Whoever it was, that was nice.

No, I didn't do Mine Ride Sunday I actually left around 3pm to prepare for the coming deluge of hunting trip laundry and yes I am a girl ;)

Anyone planning on going to Halloweekends alone this year and possibly want to meet up there in case you get bored?

I always go alone.
