Halloweekends 2012

Great looking photos! Is the facade for Boo Hill new? I agree... it looks great, and I don't remember ever seeing it. It's in the old Pirate Ride, right?

Also - the exterior/entry for Eden Musee looks pretty sweet!

In all the times I have been to Halloweekends I have never been past Boo Hill. Where is it? It looks awesome in your pictures.

The Magical House On Boo Hill is in the old Pirate Ride building as you're walking to Blue Streak.

It used to be located in the Dodgems but moved to the Pirate Ride building in 2008.

Enjoy the rest of your day at America's Rockin' Roller Coast! Ride On!

Thanks!

Yes, Boo Hill is right by Blue Streak. Up until this year, we were never allowed in... Always needed a kid (at least when we tried). This year, we tried again and got in!

I must say, it was pretty nice inside. I almost wish CP had a house like this for adults (with goons' inside it of course). I feel that CP's other houses rely a bit too much with intense lighting in your eyes and loud noises to scare, versus nice sets and "bait and switch" scaring, where they have something going on with somebody in one side of the room and you get scared from the other. I am getting sick of all the bright lights in my eyes though in all these houses! Erie Estate is the exception.

But Boo Hill was great and glad we got to walk around inside finally! We hope to get back in again. The props and sets were really nice!

Eden Musee was pretty good. I really liked the mirror room inside, great area for scares. Sadly, the 4 people inside did not attempt to scare us (lame). But it was hard to find who was real vs. a dummy!

Overall, a great HW opening weekend. We will be back in two weeks!

I believe the Boo Hill sign is new (it used to say "presented by Meijer" or something like that) but the building facade hasn't changed. The flower boxes and wreaths may be new, but I'm not certain. It is very nicely done inside for sure.

Great pictures by the way. You got a couple nice ones of me. :)

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you

The Boo Hill facade originally belonged to Erie Manor. The park recycled and painted it to become Boo Hill's entrance backdrop once the original Erie haunt was retired.

I was there on saturday, it was a perfect day! I'm surprised the crowds weren't bigger as the weather was really nice. Great photos, esp. the ones with the screamsters up close. What zone does the guy in the boxing gloves work at?

That's a Carnevil character, reminiscent of a sideshow strongman. I've nearly been popped in the face by that character more than once. If I had step forward a second sooner, I could have had a bloody nose.

I have a couple questions about this weekend. Because there website information conflicts with one another and don't want to end up screwing myself.

Is halloweekends going on the friday the 21st?

How much are tickets on friday? I read that tickets were 22.99 but i can't seem to find that anymore and now i see one that says it's $35. I need to know if I have to get someone to stop in the credit union and buy the tickets.

I'm not sure where your seeing a conflict.

According to the Mobile Site/App, they will be open 6pm-Midnight

According to the Main Website, they will be open 6pm-Midnight

According to the Halloweekends site, they will be 6pm-Midnight

The only thing that I saw as unavailable on the 21st was Boeckling's Banquet. But, that could mean it was bought out that night by a large group. It only accommodates about 24 people.

Friday/Starlight is $35.99 at the gate. That ticket isn't usually discounted much. If your staying on-property, you can get tickets for $32. If you buy a season pass for 2013, you will get 1 free admission to use the day you buy the pass.

How long does this last? Also, does that only apply at the park or online as well?

From the website...

"
To receive your free admission, print your 2013 Platinum Pass e-voucher. Present it at any admission turnstile to be scanned for your free admission. One admission per voucher. Be sure to keep your voucher. You will need to redeem it for your Photo ID card next spring. "

Would you assume (or do you know) if you use the free ticket on someone else, or does it have to be you?

I edited my post, as I found more information by checking the purchase form...

My biggest question is if I can use this voucher on anyone other than myself. For example, I purchase a new pass for 2013, use my 2012 pass to get myself in and ideally use the voucher to get my friend in for free, who does not have a pass for 2012. Would this work, or is there some sort of identity associated with the voucher that would restrict it to being used by just me?

Does anyone know why Sunday 10/7 has the special hours of 10a-10p? I notice this every year and was wondering if its because it is a very busy weekend or what? I was thinking of going that day and wondered if coming at 9 for EE and staying the day would accomplish a lot or would be crazy with long lines, etc..

Columbus Day holiday Monday.

We have gone Columbus weekend the past couple of years, and it's always been slammed with people.... we're trying the last weekend in September this year in hopes the crowds may be a little lighter. We'll see how that works out for us.

I visited the park a couple hours tonight and mainly used the scare zones as transportation, but here were my thoughts for 2012 so far (Yes, I know it's early and things will improve):

Cut Throat Cove: In 2010-2011, I thought Terror Island was the best haunt at CP, so I had high expectations for the replacement. Unfortunately, my experience was pretty weak. The environment wasn't nearly as cool as being out on Millenium Island, and it seemed quite a bit shorter. The fog was blowing away, so most everything was exposed. The Screamsters weren't doing a whole lot, and very few had taken on the kind of personalities you saw throughout Terror Island. Of course it could have just been bad timing, but I miss Terror Island. :(

Scream Works: Still much weaker than Fright Zone, and I didn't see any improvement over last year. This zone was basically crystal clear (the fog must have been blowing away), and the Screamsters were just walking around the easy-target teen girls and making them scream. I didn't see any unique Screamster personalities. I'm trying to figure out what made Fright Zone so much better in my memory. The giant talking skull? The character-building like the Mom pushing her demon baby around in that tattered stroller...that was always a good laugh. The thick fog, blinding light, and increased darkness? I'm not sure, but Scream Works just feels kind of forgettable now.

Fear Faire: This was the weakest of all the zones I walked through. Sure it was about 11:30PM and the Screamsters were probably ready for bed, but they weren't doing anything. There was little to no fog, so you could see everything, and I believe the maze was made out of a netting that you could see through, making nothing a surprise. My experience was really good last year through this zone, so I'm not sure what changed. Maybe bad timing or fog not holding?

Carnevil: I walked through this one twice. It's funny that Carnevil used to be one of the weakest back in its Oceana days, but now it's one of the best. Carnevil was the only scare zone that delivered for me tonight, and all the credit goes to the Screamsters. As a 6+ foot male, I was completely ignored in all the other zones, but why was I a target in Carnevil both times that I walked through? Were the Carnevil Screamsters not challenged by the teen girls, so they were going for the tall guys? :) I don't know, but it was highly entertaining. At times, I had 5 of them coming at me, and they were strategically working together. Some would be talking to me while the others jumped at me from behind my back, etc. The squeaky shoe clown followed me through most of the maze and continued following me out of Carnevil toward Maverick. Hearing his shoes closely behind me as I power-walked to make Maverick by 12AM was a bit creepy and hilarious. There were plenty of Screamster personalities in Carnevil, and they were working hard right up until the 12am close. Kudos to this crew.

Note that I was only at the park from 10PM-12AM, so most of the Screamsters were probably understandably exhausted. I found it odd that there seemed to be very little wind yet very little fog throughout the park though. The music throughout the park was back to being very Halloween-themed...no blaring pop that I heard. Overall, it was a great preview night for me, and I'll be sure to return soon for a more in-depth look at all the haunts/houses/shows.

I spoke with the head designer for Halloweekends. I forget his name. He said Cut Throat Cove was almost exactly the same length.
