I transferred

Anyone else who comes to the Point and wants to meet me....I'm now a ride operator on Thunder Canyon. A red tag too. :o) Very happy about it, I love my new job. Well, until next time, au revoir!

How did you do that? Did you really kiss some fannies to get there? :)
Seriously, what does it take to get transferred, as well as getting a red tag?
I doubt she kissed some butt to get that. What she did was demote herself from a bluetag (Team Leader, Asst-TL, etc) to a base rate employee, aka a redtag.

First Ticket to Ride, what's next? Ticket to Eat?
I don't need to kiss butt although it does take a good work record to be able to transfer to a different department, especially an overstaffed one.

I'm glad I'm back home in Ride Operations.

WHOOPS! Sorry about that BG! I got the red and blue tags CONFUSED! I thought you became a TL.......how stupid of me! Sorry if I got you offended or anything.

Having worked for CedarFair on two occasions, I know things can seem strange. But tell me-why do they give you the runaround when you want to transfer, as they did to me? Why is it you are stuck at one particular location the whole summer?

It's things like these which make an otherwise fun place to work become so difficult. I don't want to work at a CedarFair park just "to make friends"-I want to make money and do it in an enjoyable atmosphere!

Yes, I am a critic at how theme park companies operate. Good luck at your new spot, BG!

Transferring costs the company money, in hours spent retraining you and dealing with administrative tasks like payroll and new name tags. That doesn't sound like much on the surface, but multiply that times hundreds of employees and I think you'll see my point.

Funny, I used that same arguement in convincing a friend of mine that ride operators usually work one ride, no more.

I think that's how it is at Kennywood, at least. Haven't been to CP enough to notice.

WHOO!
Wow, I havent been here in a while - Natalie - we all know the REAL reason why you wanted your transfer to TC - you wanted the extra 2 hours of sleep!! lol

No matter what her reason for moving, the important thing is that Natalie did an awseome job and we were sorry to lose her. The great thing is that she was happy in her new job at TC.. great ride. Worked it myself...as for transfers.. Jeff is right. It costs a lot of time and money in training and retraining. Not to mention having to hire someone else to replace you. When you accept a certain position and mail back your agreement.. you accepted THAT position. Employees often get upset when we are not able to transfer them, but there is a lot to take into consideration. Not only does your own department need you ( They planned thier budget on having you).. but does your new department need you, what is your work record like, will you fit in to the new position.. have you earned a transfer. I was really sorry to lose Natalie, but did whatever I could to get her into a position where she would be happy. Natalie I hope you enjoyed the rest of your summer!
I'm kidding Jenn,I'm a good friend of Natalie's. I was seeing if she saw this

Hey Natalie & Corey!!! Just wanted to say hi and thank all the ride ops at the back of the park for another memorable year at CP. Please could everybody have a minutes silence as today is TC's last day of operation for this season :-( But it will be back in 2001 with a brand new conveyor! No more board breaking for TC!

Later,

Jenn, thank you for everything. Thanks for being such an awesome manager when I was in Services and thanks for caring about my happiness so much. I really do appreciate everything you did for me and it made me feel really good that you were so willing to go out on a limb for me. My last day is September 17 and I am going to miss this place like crazy. Everyone needs to keep in touch. :)
