Kings Island May 29th Trip

Dvo's avatar

Yesterday was gorgeous.
I started the morning waiting at the ropes at 9:30 am. As soon as they were lifted, I ran as fast as my body would let me back to Firehawk, and managed to be the 6th person in line. However, it wasn't running yet, but after about 40 minutes of testing it opened up. I could have gotten on the first train, but I opted to wait the extra few minutes for the front seat. One word describes Firehawk: WOW! I loved it. Simply a great ride for the entire duration. However it broke down later in the afternoon and they didn't open it again for the rest of the day. But I did manage to get one more ride in the morning. After Firehawk, I went around the rest of the park. There were NO lines anywhere. Literally every ride was virtually a walk-on, either waiting 1 or 2 trains for all roller coasters. In the evening I found myself in Action Zone after having ridden everything else multiple times, and I went on Face-Off about 12 times in a row. Chelsea the ride operator was very friendly and the staff was getting the train out in very good time. Great day at the park!

While I like to hear about Firehawk, this is a CP and GL oriented website.

Can I suggest www.coasterbuzz.com

Thanks!:)

I agree!!! especially since cedar fair now owns the park.

And it's absolutely spectacular that YOU think it's fine to hear about Kings Island. Go to CoasterBuzz or KIextreme and read about it.

This has been brought up countless times, this is a website pertaining to Cedar Point and Geauga Lake, not Cedar Fair and its other parks.

I was kindly directing the OP to a site where his TR would have fit.

I was there that day too! I was there with like 10 of my friends. We rode everything like 5 times! The only thing we didn`t get to ride was FireHawk because when we got off FoF it was closed for the rest of the day. :[

I love King's Island. :)

You're right Tim, I LOVE KI too!

I can't wait for my trip there in a couple months! I'm going with like 29 of my friends and we're going to ride everything like 23 times! :)

EDIT: By the way, Tim. Have you even BEEN to King's Island?

Sorry that this post doesn't exactly appeal to everyone due to its somewhat off-topic subject matter. And for the record... is this site dedicated to Cedar Point AND Geauga Lake? Because I only see "PointBuzz," not "Point and Lake Buzz." In any case, to reply... I honestly didn't see anything going on at Son of Beast, and it looks somewhat close to completion, but then again they did only take out a small portion of track, so who knows. Thanks for putting up with Kings Island.. and sorry to those who are upset about it. :)

Since the powers that be have chosen to restrain their wrath just yet ;), I'll ask: how were the rides on Beast and Racer?

My author website: mgrantroberts.com.

The backward Racer wasn't running until the afternoon, but once it got started, it ran beautifully. There was some serious air time on the bunnies. I was disappointed with my first run on the beast, because they used the trim brakes on the first drop, as well as the ones right before the second drop. It takes away from the ride so much. But the second time, they didn't use the trims on the first hill, so it was a little better. I remember the beast when there were no trims. Now that was a ride.

You should update your signature... seeing that Maverick is open and all...

The area around Firehawk carries a military theme. There was a sign "Hanger 18" that was changed this year to "Fort Kinzel". Now that's comedy.

Just say no to trims

I'm not sure where people keep getting "Hanger 18", it used to be called "Fort Cooper" after a previous higher up who was in charge back in the day.

They recently changed it to "Fort Kinzel". I believe FoF is still in "Hanger 18" , but I'm not totally sure I haven't been to the park yet this year, but they replaced "Cooper" with "Kinzel."

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...

Dvo: Are you talking about the trims in the section that is covered? Not a tunnel, but the area of track with a roof. I don't remember any others, but haven't been on The Beast since Sept. 2005.

"I can't keep this family together and have you running around like Miss Clockwork Orange."
-Julie Cooper

Fort Cooper was in reference to Jane Cooper who was President of Paramount Parks at the time when FoF opened.

It has now been changed to Fort Kinzel.

Can you see One-Eyed-Willie from the top of Magnum?

I'm sure Hangar 18 is still Hangar 18. It's even mentioned in the FoF spiel video.
