I'd say the chances of a new B&M coaster are very high considering the entire CF chain have been building them for the last 3 years.

A flying coaster makes the most since to me. It's an experience CP doesn't have, the GP don't really know what they are (Detroit area at least) and I know they'll be interested. CP has given this type of ride to evolve (SFMM's Tatsu has shown that work has been done to make them better) and Frontier Town seems like a great place to put it and the Maverick name fits.

CP's all about having great coasters and having all of them being unique.

But that is exactly what would happen to a coaster, especially one that runs beneath the water table. The last thing you need is water building up in the bottom of the tunnel only to cause a train to valley there and create an evacuation problem.

It would be much easier to not have to worry about it and stay above the table, than build into it and have to shut down your newest coaster because of a storm sewer backup.

Even though it would fit in the space perfectly(a larger one that is), I don't think it'll be that kind of coaster.
Then again I dont really have any guesses as to what it'll be(if its a monster). If it's an inversion coaster, I'd go with either a flyer or a floorless.

On Coasterbuzz it seems that at the mention of any new possible coaster, there are far more who seem to want a dive machine. I don't know why so many people want an obsolete ride technology, especially at CP.

Granted it's possible, but it would require pumps being run around the clock to keep it from flooding. That constantly costs more money and it could cause problems in the future if the pumps happen to fail. The way Cedar Fair runs, I'm sure in their eyes it would be an unnecessary expense when they could just build an above ground tunnel.

There is no reason a partially underground tunnel can't be done at Cedar Point. Space Spiral has been there since the 80s and has a foundation well into the water table (30 ft. deep foundation, I'd guess approx. 25 ft. under the actual ground level) and there have been no worries about any of it deteriorating, and there probably won't be for many, many years to come. There is no reason that there can't be a 5-10 ft. trench walled and covered with concrete, and then add a nice layer of earth and grass over the hump that would be created in the ground by the roof of the tunnel. A tunnel doesn't have to be totaly below ground level for people to think it's an underground tunnel. But people don't have to go into the foundation of space spiral. A tunnel could be built, however the maintenance to make sure nothing happens (especially because of the water table) would make it cost prohibitive.

3 different coaster types have been discussed...

1: Floorless: Guys, they aren't that unique. GL has one, and its not that good. Floorless' are basically Mantis, without a floor. Plus, the only good seat on a Floorless is the front row because you can get the full effect of ride. The uselessness of a floorless as CP would be astronomical. I hope Dick has some sense.

2: Dive Machine: So many issues you have all brought up, water table, already have vertical drops, several other issues. With the amount of Divers in the world, this MIGHT be the logical choice, but from the look of Shekria, it wouldn't look like an amazing interesting ride. Lets say they put in a 250' Diver, unless they put in something that makes that coaster amazingly sweet, there would be no point to ride it because we have a 400' vertical drop coaster in the middle of the park.

3: Flyer: Now kiddies, we have ourselves a ride. Personally, if they got any type of these three coasters, this would be it. How mad would it make SFMM fans if we build a bigger, faster, more badass flyer. But, do we want something that is pretty much like X-Flight at CP?? SF really blew a load when they installed that parking lot POS, and if CP made the same mistake, the whole WWL area would be just another waste of space.

Now, lets say this. CP creates a convential sit down coaster, but it's simply badass. Colossus at Thorpe Park in the UK is a great example. Fantastic ride and isn't anything but a sit-down steel.

I'd love to see CP add an Intamin looper similar in style to Colossus. There'd still be the chance to break the record for number of loops. And, it'd add a looper to their coaster list. I'd much rather see that than a flyer.

What about an S&S 4D coaster, I thought about it a bit, and it may make sense if they can get it to run half the time.

I see what you guys are saying about a Flying coaster, but I still don't see it happening, I've heard some really bad things about them. It'll all depend on how Tatsu works out, if it works like a charm, CP might consider getting one, if it runs like crap(which is how everything is run at SFMM) then CP might reconsider...

Whatever they put back there, still has to fit in and look good. I'm going to stop speculating and just accept what CP will offer.

How are the S&S 4d models coming? I haven't seen one in awhile. From what I understand the Arrow model (X at SFMM) is down part + of the time. I could see them bending and twisting and packing one in there like a big tangled mess. That would be cool.

And yeah, no matter how much we speculate, it may never be right.
