Memorial Day 2010 Report

I spent the weekend at Cedar Point and Soak City. The first thing I noticed what they do is take a quick look in your bag and cooler before the guest enters the park. At the Soak City entrance, I saw at least five people be told that the coolers would have to go back in their car. I am kinda happy about the bag inspections because it does provide a slight security measure than before plus people can't sneak in alcohol and food into the park. The only thing i wish they could do is build a picnic shelter somewhere close to the resort gate for people who wish to bring their own food.

Most of the crews were efficient and following procedure. On maXair and Ocean Motion, the person(s) spieling were just annoying and were truly acting like douches. On Disaster Transport our ride host didn't even look at the seats to make sure they were locked and really thought that was odd not to do. Corkscrew, Magnum, Iron Dragon, Mean Streak, Gemini, Disaster Transport, and Skyhawk's, crew were all amazing. Magnum was just stellar, the crew sucked last year and most all of the crews get that making a crowded station doesn't go over with the riders. I wasn't impressed at all with Maverick or Turnpike's crews this year.

Many security guards were wandering the park this year and were very pleasant. Something had to go wrong in Frontier Town/ Trail on Sunday the 30th because the security guards were going to people and asking them questions. The food staff were always really nice when you wanted ice water. The cups were 12 ounces and they were really encouraging people to get the free stuff instead of the bottled. I thought the food was good.

Soak City wasn't that crowded when i went. I don't really have anything that good to say about the water park. The only improvement I observed was a new sign over the wave pool. The employees were nice though.

Rides with extensive downtime on the weekend were Maverick and Iron Dragon. Chaos isn't running yet, Corkscrew is running the Red/White trains. They don't really need the Blue one but it is going to be put on because the train is right by the ride. They restored almost all the designs on the trains just how they started to last year. Mean Streak is running two but could use three because i waited an hour at 2:00 on Sunday and 45 minutes on Saturday. They either need a new way to update the queue signs on the coasters at the park or get a electronic system in there. It is so bad when the queue is 45 minutes but the sign says 15. All things said, I though it was a great trip and was mostly happy with the changes made this year.

Did Dragster have any downtime? If not, it looks like it has finally awaken from its 7 month slumber.

^I saw it down for maybe 20 minutes at most. I didn't see a rollback this weekend.
