What? English is not a language?

English is, but "english" is not. Nor are "employies" or "actualy" English words.

I excuse your spelling almost all the time, but when you comment on the inability of others to use the English language, perhaps a long, hard look in the mirror is in order.

That's kind of ironic too. :)

What??

Are you serious?

Dude...get a life and stop correcting people all the time. Your always being a total a$$. Untill you are a moderator, I suggest you stop. You knew exactly what I ment in that post. I am not a good speller......so what? It has never been my strong point. I am always trying to improve on my spelling problems, but my spelling issues are nothing compared to you being such a jerk all the time.

No wonder so many people have left this site, or are afraid to post anything on here. It's because of people like you DJ.

So instead of ruining another thread, can we get back on target here?

what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard.
Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it.
I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Chill pills, yummmm!

Anyway... I only had one three-day trip, but here are my ratings:

Rides: A, Nothing had much down time that I noticed when I visited in June... although TTD was down several times on my last day and StR wasn't open at all yet.

Accommodations: B, I got a pretty good deal through my email so I got a better room than usual at Breakers and it was pretty nice. Wish there was wifi in the rooms though. It sucked having to go downstairs and sit in the hot, humid rotunda to use the internet.

Entertainment: n/a, I didn't see any shows.

Food: C, For the price, the food sucked. I was disappointed in most the things I ate. I liked the fries and LOVED the cheese curds though. Had things been a bit less expensive I wouldn't have minded the food.

I'd have to side with dj on that one too. He made a joke about the irony in your post, he even put a ;). You're the only one being a jerk.

As for rides, I think there's a distinction between the quality of the rides and what they offer, and the way they're run. As always, the rides themselves are wonderful, but I've found them not to be as efficiently run this year, with longer waits for the same length of queue, if that makes sense. Rideman put it more eloquently, and I found myself nodding in agreement when I read his post.

The food is nominally better than last year, but that's not saying much. I still don't think there's much food in the park that I don't feel like a sucker for buying. The pizza's better, at least, but I'll still avoid purchasing food in the park to the extent I can.

I don't go to the shows, so...uh...

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

I side with those who don't have patience for near rascist remarks when one cannot even master his/her own language.

Be that as it may, the points about a resort charge card are valid. I argued this back in the early 90s to no avail. If the room key served as charge card at the restaurants, stores and even the games you would see a significant spike in revenue.

If the cost to upgrade technology is the reason it hasn't been done, that is a lame...shortsighted reason. If they did it when I was pushing for it they would have paid for the system many times over.

I've only been there once this year so far and...

Rides-A*, its Cedar Point=)

Accomadations-N/A*, dont have the money

Entertainment-N/A*, I don't go to CP for shows

Food-C+*, Besides the high prices and some occasional lazy employees it's not too bad.

*Will update when/if I go back this year.

I find all the arguing about misspelling things to be amusing, mostly because I'm not aware of a single browser that doesn't yet have a built in spell checker.

Rides: A - The rides are good and most crews are fantastic.

Live E: A+++ - Shows are off the wall good, even Tropical show which is the worst of all of em because it just doesn't fit in the Garter.

Accomodations - Awesome because it is my apartment in Sandusky. I have no real comment on the hotels seeing as I've never even been in them!

I hope I ddnt mispel anething oar use bad gramer!

That has certainly been true for us. It can be especially true while sitting at the bar. :)

I've taken a cruise on which all of the extra transactions were done via the swipe card, including drinks at all of the ship's bars. Indeed, you tend to be far less frugal when you don't see the money exiting your wallet. The start-up costs of such a system would be offset by the additional impulse purchases fairly quickly, I suspect.

So, I get the impression from the various responses that CP is still delivering, so far this year, on its trademark feature - rides. Although, sounds like more attention could be paid to utilizing ride capacity and reducing downtime. Also sounds like entertainment is getting high grades.

Accomodations and food are getting fair to failing grades (although some improvement in food is being noted).

So, I ask you, the faculty, this question. What could our student do to improve in those areas BEFORE the year is out? That is, what reasonable changes would you enact immediately to improve performance but maintain profitability?

Vince982's avatar

^^That is very true. At Kalahari this past winter my friends and I were sitting at the swim up bar and spent over $100 each night we were there, even thought we had cold, much cheaper beer in our room that was already paid for. Just swiping a card is much easier to do than seeing an actual cash transaction.

They have the same card based setup at Disney. You can use your room key for charging things. We have never used it, because when on vacation, we use the debit card for everything, so what's the point?

Giving them your cc number to put on a room key, just opens the door for potential problems.

I have seen people use the room key to charge things at Disney, and they did not even ask for ID. So if you lose the card, someone else could have fun with it. Even if they did check your ID, you have to pull your wallet out anyway, so you may as well just use a debit/credit card and not on the room key.

As with any credit card, you can contest the charges made by others. Not exactly sure how this is handled with a system such as the one being discussed, but I can't imagine it would be too different.

I almost never get asked for ID when I use my credit/debit cards, so I'm not sure how that being the case at Disney is more problematic than everyday transactions.

The benefit, as I see it, comes with having to carry ONE item throughout the resort - your room key.

I would imagine additional benefit comes when you link important info together - what room you're staying in, whether or not you have a season pass, when you're checking out and so on. Plus, if a guest is bringing kids along, it would be nice to use their room key (assuming they have their own room, of course) to purchase stuff, perhaps with a pre-set limit on what they can spend.

I absolutely LOVE using my "key to the world" when I'm at WDW. It makes it so easy and convenient. Everything hits in one big transaction, instead of 40 little ones. I just use my debit card as the card that backs it up, and everything's paid for when we leave.

djDaemon's avatar

How does that work, Josh? Do you pre-pay with set amount? Get approved for a set amount?
