Millennium Force train is stuck on the lift hill 8:20pm 5/16/09

There is currently a train stuck on the Millennium Force lift hill as of 8:28pm and it was there when I opened the webcam at about 8:20pm. Does this happen very often? Last time I remember this happening was before my trip in 2006 and that was when the lift hill motor was broken for weeks. Do they have to cart people back down to the station two at a time in the maintenance cart?

I noticed that too. This is pretty common.

Sucks for those riders.;)

I don't know if this is related but during ert this morning the train I was on stopped for about 20 seconds near the top of the lift, due to the fact that the crew was sending out trains before the other one made it to the last overbank. The crew was really flying today, so kudos to them

I just watched Dragster roll back on 4 out of 5 attempts a few minutes ago so I am guessing that there are some pretty strong wind gusts (NWS says 23mph sustained, 31mph gust...isn't Dragster supposed to stop running if it is over 30mph for more than 5 seconds?). I hope MF didn't valley somewhere. It seems unlikely because the train on the lift would probably still be able to be lowered back into the station if a train got stuck mid course (unless the block system is programmed to prevent that).

i hate getting stuck on the millennium! we were stuck at the top of the hill! you here this loud noise when you start to move again & you move really slow over the hills. how do you evacuate the trains if you are stuck on the hill? i now theres an elevator!

I just got on the cam, yeah that might not be good if its been sitting there for over an hour now. Therese pictures from 2006 of the train sitting on the lift, it looks close the the same spot.

What cam are you looking at? I can't tell anything from the Cedar Point webcam...

Come on I waited all day for some juicey opening day news and the best you got is Millennium is stuck?

I saw Dick Kinzel try to pick up a piece of paper and it blew away from him... btw there is a webcam on the frontier trail aimed at the petting zoo

Has MF ever stalled out midway through the ride? It just seems like it has too much speed for that to even be possible, but I could be wrong.

I hope it isn't anything serious. Having it down for 2 weeks would put a big damper on my trip on Monday.

Hoping to one day build these great machines that we affectionatly call "Coasters"

From what I've been told, winds are over 30 and gusting over 40.

^^ who said anything about 2 weeks?

I thought I he said 2 weeks, instead he said "weeks". Either way if that is what it is, it won't be open for my trip on Monday :(

Heres the site with the web cam, I remember someone saying either back in 2000 or 2001 one of the trains stalled out going into the final over-banked turn.

Hopefully the lift motor isn't broken. Just because that was the cause of a similar incident in the past doesn't mean it is the only thing that could cause the train to get stuck on the lift.

I would pee my pants if I were stuck up there. I love coasters, but I am terrified of heights. The only part I hate about riding coasters is the lift hill. Especially MF's, since there is barely anything around you.

"You wanna, you gotta, you hafta hold on, Cedar Point...HOLD ON!"

Millennium Force was indeed evacuated with a train near the top of the lift this evening around 8:00pm. As far as I know it didn't run for the rest of the night...

Thrills Around the Corner!

The train is still stuck up there. That is not a good sign. However, the today in the park page on the CP website doesn't say that MF is closed today, so maybe they have hope that it will be fixed sometime today.
