no airtime on TTD?

i heard that on the top hat you don't get very much airtime, is that true?(i haven't rode top thrill dragster yet so i have no idea if it is) if it doesn't i think that cedar point should use more of the horse power and make it go over faster to get some air time, it seems like it'd be amazing to get airtime that high above everything sorry if this is a dumb question i just want to know before i ride it this year so i'm not let down

I get air time on the top, whether the train was slow or fast, I always got air time (even when I am stapled in the ride).

Cedar Point, Americas rip- rockin', high flyin', sky defyin', record breakin' roller coast

I don't get airtime that often because they always push the bar so far down on me, but I know many people get airtime quite often.

Thrills Around the Corner!

It depends on how the ride is operating. Sometimes I get air, sometimes I don't.

I've never gotten any air. I am amazed when I hear of anyone getting any.

It is impossible not to get any airtime on Dragster. Sure that lapbar is as tight as it can go but next time consentrate on going down the hill and you will notice that all of a sudden you dont feel your seat anymore...

3 Rollbacks- 2 back to back front row -dead serious- IT WAS THE SH*T!!!!!

wow, I know the coaster goes fast, but not fast enough to be suffocating anyone. How can you not get air on it? I would think this would be a serious safety problem.

It all depends on how fast your launch is. If the train flies over the top you will get a nice pop of airtime, but if it creeps over you aren't going fast enough to provide any airtime.

Cedar Point rocks my socks.

I have gotten air a few times. Not very much tho- I do suppose it depends on where you sit or how fast it is going.

The biggest pop of airtime I got on it was one night early in the 2003 season when they had yet to install seats to replace the spoiler and tires. The difference in not having the weight in the back and the fact that it hadn't broken down in several hours made for a very fast vault over the top. I have a feeling that it was the kind of awesome ejector air people say Xcelerator dishes out. I was quite surprised by it since I hadn't felt it on my prior rides...or since then, for that matter. :(

If I'm not going to get a roll-back, I want it to run like that again.

Xcelerator does dish out some nice ejector, but you get air all the way down as well. The 270 degree turn kills everything on Dragster. The 90 degree turn is much better at raising you right out of your seat. As soon as you crest the tophat your butt won't touch the seat until you're down getting your picture taken. :)

If you think the 90 degree turn on Xcelerator is good, try Storm Runner. That tophat in the back is some of the best air I have ever got on a steel coaster.

I do get air on TTD, and I enjoy the whip on the twist if you sit on the left. It is very different from Storm Runner, but they are both good.

you probably dont get air time on TTD cause you staple.

when your in the seat, it is hard to get 0 verts, and near impossible to get ejector air.

After the launch and going up 420 feet the last thing on my mind is airtime.

Yes, storm runner at Hershey give some really awsome air on the top hat, and also coming out of the second inversion, I cant remember what it's called...

The trains also had only 4 cars in the beginning.....or is that what you meant.
I mean it makes sense since it would weigh allot less with only 4 cars instead of 5. Although even when they did take the spoilers off (:(), and had the last car with only 2 seats, it still went over the top hat at speeds that caused a small amount of airtime. I remember feeling that small airtime when I rode Dragster when it only had the 16 seated trains.

So yes I have felt air on Dragster....just not since May 29th, 2003.:) It still has it's moments of airtime.

At least Dragster doesn't have brakes at the top that would kill any chance of airtime.;) *** Edited 7/11/2005 6:38:50 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

Yeah, even after 10-12 rides this is still my opinion. That launch is just so intense, sometimes I barely get time for my sweet view of MF before goin back over (equally intense).

2008 - Games (Area 3/Scales)
2009 - Games Supervisor
2010 - Season pass holder.

I don't think that TTD is meant for the "air-time" It's meant for height and speed. Plus the centifugal force keeps you in your seat the entire way down because of the twist.
