positives of Maverick

I'm probably going to start rumors with this one, but that's not my intention. Maverick being a fun looking and non record breaking coaster seems to make it more feasible that Cedar Point would consider getting a mid-sized, non record breaking, wooden roller coaster some day.

People have been saying that Cedar Point wouldn't get a non record breaking coaster for awhile now. I have heard several times about how Cedar Point wouldn't be able to market it. This is a total leap, but if Maverick is popular, maybe it will clear the way for Cedar Point to demolish Disaster Transport and put a great wooden coaster on the beach in its spot. I've always thought that a wooden coaster would look great in that spot.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!

How come you can't see Cedar Creek Mine Ride the background by Skyhawk?

7 TTD rides.....1 Roll Back
3rd train of the Season on MF! 2007

The rumor bird doodied this little ditty on my shoulder. Say goodbye the the Turnpike Cars. But that station/location will be used to "intercorporate" Cadillac Cars and Antique Cars right there below Raptor. The free are for AC will free up a little more space for a '09 coaster (prob floorless). Not so well mixed up with Mav. But the re/movement of the Wave Swinger and removal of UR Dade will create some "near misses" while you saddle up to eat some pizza. And good 'ole Fright Zone will be extended. Boo

On that recent coaster show, didn't they say that all the new coasters are designed around the heartline? That's why they're less strenuous and rough? Maybe I missed something there.

I really with there was more information on how new coasters are made, designed, etc... I'd love to do some reading on that. I'm guessing since the industry is so competitive, they don't want to delve into that too much. But, I find it all fascinating.

Im in the IB diploma Program at My school, which I have to write a 4,000 word essay on a topic i choose over the course of my Junior and Senior years. I have chosen to write about the Physics of Roller Coasters so when i finish it i will tell you everything i learn about it :)

Maybe because there was no need to model CCMR to market Maverick. It also wasn't necessary for Skyhawk which he modeled already.

Not trying to bring down Maverick or anything, but the beyond 95 degree drop looks negligible at best. It looks like for all of .5 seconds, you will be at 95 degrees. I'm wondering if it will even be noticeable in the least. With the Gerstaluer Eurofighters, the 95 degree drop looks like it is sustained for a bit longer.

Please don't take this as a Mav bashing. I am very pleased with the newest installation and will be waiting in line for hours with the rest of you. I love the terrain usage, low to the ground speeds and direction changes, and launches. Not to mention I have been whining to my friends for years that CP hasn't installed anything with inversions for years.

I know I posted under positives of Maverick, but I didn't want to start a new thread.

I've thought the same thing. I'm hoping that my body will feel it a bit more once I'm going down the hill. In the animations, I really can't tell the difference between straight down and the 95.

The ride looks flat out exciting and I'm glad the only -est they went for this year goes after FUN.

The positives of Maverick never end. In addition to what people have already said, how about those 8 airtime hills! Or the 10 banked turns!

Has anyone noticed that there is almost NO STRAIGHT TRACK. Besides the station, lift hill (which is a fast lift hill like MF), and the tunnel there are turns, hill, and dips all along the way. Definitly not a boring ride.

Right before the announcement of Maveric I was thinking it might be themed like a Snoopy's Red Baron type ride. With the twists and turns it'd be like a dog fight. No pun intended. Hmmm, maybe they can build that one ABOVE Maveric. lol

I'll be saving up some money to make another journey to Cedar Point, hopefully next season.

Juggalotus, I am glad I'm not the only one who noticed. I hope you are right in that we will feel the 95. At any rate, regardless of whether or not the 95 is noticable, this ride is going to be awesome. I have not been this excited about a coaster since Millennium Force.

Looks like it might be fun. I still can't figure where they spent 21 million though.

The 360 degree heartline roll is actually 10 feet off the ground, so you most likely will not get dirt in your hair unless there's one heck of a wind gust through there.

I think the point of the 95 degree drop is just the fact that it is the steepest, and that you curl underyourself as opposed to straight down (as well as it just being incredibly sweet). Bringing up the zero-g, heartline roll debate, my take is mainly type and company of the coaster. I have yet to see and inverted track with a "heartline twist." Possibly the name comes from the axis of rotation. They're used interchangeably enough I don't think it really matters...

One thing the 95 degree drop does is give the impression that you're going to slam into the other section of track and the tunnel.

It's only 5 degrees past straight down but it does give you a clearer look of what's down there. I think everyone on the short train should get a good look. If the train was longer the front of the train would block the rear riders view.

It's the first Kiddie roller coaster to upside down!!

Yes there is. Volcano the Blast Coaster has three. The priciple of the 95 degree drop will create a very potent airtime pop without any question. The difference between straight down and 95, is the difference between zero g and negative g. This may create notable ejector air no matter how short, it is still there.
