Ride On

I think I like this commercial because of it's lack of cheese. No cheesy CP jingle.. No cheesy family laughing while holding hands and skipping down the midway etc...

Advertising teh thrills... I like it.

Hey Coastern3rd - One of the GM guys who frequently visits our company here had a Monte Carlo SS with the 5.3 and aftermarket exhaust. Looks & sounds great, but not faster than Dodge, I'm happy to say. This was confirmed by the owner of the car, who was destroyed by an SRT8.

Just a little friendly competition... :)

Someone was screeching off the line. ;)

New Monte in '08? Because if you're talking about the C6, I ain't worried. Make sure your antivenom is handy.

Brandon

Supposed to have an all new Impala, Monte and Camaro by then on the same platform.

I'm still not worried about Dodge's gardner snake. When Dodge learns how to make their 510 horspower 8.3 litre V10 take the 6.0 litre V8 LS2 making 400 Hp... I'll be impressed. Why does it take a V10 that only makes 700HP to compete with a V8 capable of 900HP?
The Viper still weighs to much...

Remember, Bob Lutz said the same thing when he designed the Viper. Bob is now working the Blue Devil Vette.

Oh yeah and RIDE ON!

djDaemon's avatar

The Viper weighed too much. Two words: all aluminum.

Besides, who needs Bob's old tricks? Dodge has the acclaimed SRT team, getting 300 ponies out of the Dodge Caliber and so forth.

Yeah, ride on indeed. :)

Brandon

The EcoTec can make 1000 ponies in the Cobalt. I cannot even begin to imagine the torque steer you're going to get in the FWD RT-4 Calibur. (can we call the RT-4 a Calibur or do we have to seperate it for the whiny Dodge boys like we did for the Neon?)

The Corvette, all aluminum with Magnesium Roof and Magnesium Engine cradle. The whole frame weighs 278 lb.

I hardly call the Solstice and Sky "bob's old tricks"

RIDE ON! ;)

djDaemon's avatar

Wait - you're wondering about torque steer in the Caliber, and in the same paragraph calling 1000hp in the Cobalt a good thing?!? Double-standard?

I'll admit, the Vette is some nice engineering, but what is the retail cost?

And the Solstice and Sky are very nice indeed. I wouldn't think they're anything entirely special though. Just another of many "me too" vehicles that GM has been spewing out lately.

*cough* H2 *cough* HHR *cough*

;)

Brandon

I should clarify... The EcoTec is capable of 1000 as they use for the NHRA. The SS/SC makes 205HP for right now with an equal amount of torque.

The retail cost is what makes the Corvette America's super car. For the coupe it's $44K The Z06 starts at $65K. It will take a couple of Ferrari's and the Lamborghini Gerrardo(sp?) for less than half the price.

The Current Viper starts at $85K. Thats the base version.

For being Me Too cars, The Solstice an Sky have sold out alongside the Corvette.

Staying on-topic... RIDE ON! *** Edited 4/28/2006 1:57:18 PM UTC by Coastern3rd***

Too bad they ruined the 06 Impala. Nothing said Impala like the round tail lights and the mean front end (I'm talking post 2000). I'll take my 02 over an 06 any day. The only problem is, as the speedometer rises, the gas gague falls...

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

I just called the reservations dept with a couple questions, and while on hold I was listening to the Snoopy music:

Ride on, Snoopy. Snoopy, ride on!

It was funny to me, don't know why.

Im surprised the new comerical is so short. If you aren't paying attention, you're likely to miss it. However, it's high-energy and the slogan is simple and short...and definitely sticks with you.

Off topic but the Z06 is better than the viper. I like the viper but Vette's are better. And Chevy in general is teh bestest. Some of their new cars I don't like. Like the HHR. Ugly. Mclaren and Porsche is teh most bestestest. Also I think the commercial is cool. *** Edited 5/11/2006 10:27:16 PM UTC by Turbo Jaw***

long as we're not on coasters in this thread, I like the New challenger MUCH better than the viper. Hope it goes into production. Mopars rule!*s*

oh yeah....I too checked on reservations and heard the "Ride on Snoopy " jingle. Cool! Haven't seen any of the tv spots though down in Florida.

The new CP ads have been airing in West MI now for a week or so.

I've been seeing them here in the Lansing area to.

-Paul

They were on all last night on NBC, channel 4, here in the Detroit area.
And Mr. Scott, I forgot to mention, I was in your neck of the woods all last week. I was attending the Michigan Professional Firefighter's Union convention at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel. That place, and Downtown Grand Rapids, are really, really nice. I would recomend it as a weekend getaway spot for anybody. And just a short drive to Michigan Adventure.
