Signs pointing towards Boardwalk?

Couple of things here:

1. Movement of DT makes no sense, as Giant Wheel would be in the way in either case and it was just relocated last year.

2. Looking at Terraserver, [http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.asp?S=10&T=1&X=1798&Y=22968&Z=17&W=2], there's a nice run down the beach if you remove Oceana. Nice layout for a twister, perhaps?
I think the best thing CP could build is a CCI "Shivering Timbersish" ride! Go right along the beach and a highspeed helix towards the end of the ride. Have some incredible airtime!

I know Thrillride is not exactly trustworthy but someone posted something saying that Janice Witherow said the rumors about DT moving are ridiculous, and that CP is on a 5 year plan and something about the expanding technology.
I would guess that a wooden twister a la Cyclone would be both more efficient in terms of space and would provide more of an authentic boardwalk feel. All real boardwalks, from Coney Island to Santa Cruz to Mission Beach, have wooden twisters.

CP fan since 68.
I'm all for the boardwalk project, especially with a new wooden coaster (much like Lightning Racer or Wildcat at HersheyPark). As stated many times, that area of the park needs some major revamping.

But LEAVE OCEAN MOTION WHERE IT IS. It's a wonderful spot for it and the landscaping is beautiful around that ride. CP does not need to tear any more trees down. I can think of one ride in particular that could be torn down along the lakefront and we all know what that is...but I didn't say it.
Yes net, Space Spiral Should be torn down. ;)

Hold your horses buckaroos! Lets think logically here for a minute.

Reasons Disaster Transport should not be torn down:

1. It appeals to the non coaster fanatic crowd.
2. It would fit in nicely with the board walk. Lets face it every boardwalk has a great dark ride and a campy space theme ride. The "boardwalk" already has both of these.
3. It is the tallest, and fastest bobsled coaster as well as the only one that is enclosed. It would be just like selling Magnum to Japan.
4. The line is almost always outside of the building.

Those are all good but the next two are the big ones.

5. It is used for a haunted house every season. They could build a new building in that area but that would cost time and money that the park could be using to buy your guy's floorless or CCI.
6. The open area on the "inside" of Disaster Transport is used as a storage and maintenance area. Almost as big as the one behind Mean Streak. That is valuable space that they would be losing if the torn DT down.

Now the reasons why Disaster Transport should be torn down.
1. It's a White building (hmmm)
2. It blocks a little bit of lake front view.
3. It is in bad need of being refurbished (this will soon no longer be an issue wh..I mean if(;)) we get are boardwalk.
4. coaster fanatics do not like it (the ride is not for coaster fans).

Number two shouldn't be and issue for three fold.
One, rides can be built on the beach behind it (where DT doesn't touch the beach). Two, a storage/maintence area would still block the view. Finally, half of it goes in the parking lot.

To me, tearing down The coaster built on top of an Avalanche is not logical.

Has anyone been to Disney's Boardwalk at Walt Disney World? It is a small boardwalk with alot of different shops and restaurants, but not rides. I think CP could easily do something like this. It was very nice to walk down and it was quite peaceful even though there was quite a bit of people walking around! Maybe they could bring in the ESPN club just like Disney did. That old midway has alot of potential. The site where Disaster is at was the site of the original cyclone coaster, why don't they build another? That would fit in more with this boardwalk project than Disaster would!!

Except that Disney owns ESPN.

Does anyone know if the boardwalk might be built much like Knott's?

Sorry Jeff, I didn't know Disney owns ESPN!!!!!
My personal opinion is that certain ride on the lakefront, that I am not going to name, should not be kept for the purpose of a storage garage. It's too prime of a location.

I'm looking forward forward to seeing what CP has in store for the lakefront in 2001 with Oceana, the Aquarium and the coral courtyard gone.
I was thinking that an interesting way to blend the convention center in with a boardwalk theme would be to restore it to its original appearance. It would fit in with boardwalk themeing and be a nice place to house eateries, games, etc. It would preserve the oldest existing building at the point and bring back some of CP history. Additionally, they could use part of it for a Musuem much like Town Hall Musuem, either new displays or relocated displays from Town Hall. Speaking of that, what happened to the Meanstreak model in Town Hall. I always enjoy looking at that thing.
The Mean Streak model is still there.

net, that is one of many reasons as I stated previously.

As of now Disaster Transport has stopped being a roller coaster that houses a great haunted house but rather is a great haunted house that houses a decent roller coaster.

If Coral Courtyard and Oceana are bieng torn down, what will happen to Macorroni's and Camp Snoopy's Playground?

The Mean Streak model had been in Toledo as part of the COSI show. Opening weekend it was NOT in the Town Hall museum. You say it's back now?

Hmmmm interesting. I haven't been to Town Hall since opening day, and the gentleman that was behind the desk told me that they weren't going to put the model of Mean Streak back up, but intstead would replace it with a model of MF. It would be scaled smaller than the model of Mean Streak.

The model was not in the museum on Memorial Day weekend.

I've been to CP 4 times this year already and the model hasn't been there either time.

1. AAA day.
2. Opening day.
3. May 17.
4. May 26.

I must be thinking of White Water Landing model.

That wouldn't make sense. They should display all three models.

Back on topic here...

I definitely see the convention center being removed. Restoring its original facade would just not be economically feasible. This space could be better utilized starting with a clean slate.

For instance: We know how much revenue CF has been gaining with their bi-annual additions to the resorts. I have been foreseeing more of this resort development traveling south-ward on the peninsula since we discussed these things last year. This could result in a shift of the highly speculated boardwalk area further toward the parking lot. This allows for the foot print of one or possibly two coasters in the revitalized area.

-One L-shaped pattern occupying TLFKABB (The land formerly known as Barenstain Bear Land) which was previously mentioned.

-And/or a new footprint occupying the parking lot space flanked by DD, the games area, and DT.

I believe that you will definitely be able to bet on a midway that preserves the vista, though. Look for rides to be pushed back from the lake with the mid-way taking on part of the actual beach walk-way in true boardwalk fashion.
