Sky scraper and go karts leaving

^ I'm with you buddy! Whatever happens, happens! I'll be excited when it happens. I'm guessing what the speculation is and saying there will be a Soak City expansion in 2017.

All I know wise that we've been asking if it was taken on private or public property and Twisty hasn't responded to them; since he took the pictures and all. He's probably sitting back and watching all of us suckers fall for his troll ways for all we know.

It was clear from his post that he was going to take the pictures from Cedar point property while he was authorized to be on the property.

Subsequently, the pictures he did submit from a screen capture of the video that was not authorized by the park were also taken from Cedar point private property

I believe you may have missed some posts that were deleted in between.

Also, the area we are talking about is absolutely not viewable from any public property or any property not owned by Cedar point

Would Cedar Point ever put in a dining/shopping/entertainment district where Challenge Park currently sits? Something along the lines of Downtown Disney?

That spot, while it may be a good location for a Soak City expansion, still needs to remain open to non-day guests. At the very least, there still needs to be some sort of a path for guests staying outside the park in Lighthouse Point and Sandcastle to get to the park and to the beach area. Challenge Park worked there because you meander through and do the rides while not having to be in the park.

Thoughts?

There's a walkway that goes along Perimeter Rd (between Ripcord and the road) from the SC parking lot to the CP gate, so that would negate the need for the other parallel pathway that most people use now. And getting rid of the go-karts will allow them to widen this pathway as I recall it being somewhat narrow.

I doubt we would ever see something like this on the peninsula due to it's seasonal nature. But with Ouimet in charge you never know what could happen off peninsula on CF owned land. He seems to be open to more business opportunities then the old regime were thanks to his time at Disney.

It certainly can happen on the Peninsula, if it ever happens. It would actually make more sense to have it on Point as you have a large captive audience staying on Point that would be able to walk to the venue. You can also market it to people off Point and they could get the parking refunded if they buy enough food, similar to how they do it with Famous Dave's and Bay Harbor.

The seasonal nature of the business doesn't mean that it would be hard to turn a profit. You have a huge operation on Put-In-Bay that is very profitable and very seasonal.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

It could also be another draw to Soak City, and also feed off of Soak City's attendance. People drive all the way back there to just go the water park now. They don't stay much after 5pm and don't spend a lot of money.

This would give them something to do after 5pm. It would also be a way to keep people in the Soak City area when it rains. When it rains, head over to the "Fun District" and come back when it stops in 30 minutes...

I know this thread is more about things leaving Challenge Park, but I stumbled across this ride and think it would make a great new uncharge attraction for Cedar Point, maybe on Millennium Island? http://www.skywab.com/en/products/thrill-adventures/the-rollercoaster-zipline

I'm inclined to think not. Downtown Disney, Uni's Citywalk and Disney Springs are all year-round attractions able to bring in non-resort guests -- locals, in other words. Cedar Point would have a significant challenge enticing locals to visit such an attraction.

I also don't see CF using land on peninsula for a lifestyle shopping type center. I understand that during the season it could be popular having 10-40K people walking distance away but I don't see Point being that type of crowd. I can not see justification to use resort property for something like Disney Springs. I could see a new hotel or more campgrounds in that spot before a shopping district would be installed. Maybe it's my season pass holder beer goggles distorting my view but I don't see a need for it on Point. But off Point, where it could become more of a year round draw would make more sense IMO.

You know, even off point I'm not so sure. Disney and Uni benefit from year-round operations, locals and multiple on-site hotels to feed their shopping/dining districts. Cedar Point, in the off season, would not.

Yeah, Sandusky is pretty much a ghost town during the off-season.

With the exception of the 25,000 people that live there and the Largest Kalahari convention center in the country booked solid pretty much all winter.

They could add a "nightlife" area back there. It wouldn't be to the extent of CityWalk, but more than just Go Karts would be an improvement. Throw in a Dave and Buster type arcade bar and maybe a small restaurant, to keep people active on the property without being inside the park.

That's a great idea and it would be a cash cow for the point.

Can you explain how I am trolling? I simply stated some facts on here and provided proof (in pictures) that I took down because I was politely asked to do so. The video is on the companies website now and not sure if they had permission from Cedar Point.

I wouldn't take it personally. It happens often enough around here for some to automatically label someone as a troll when they say things like "I know something but can't tell you what it is....". You did the wrong thing by posting the pictures but rectified it by taking them down after being asked and made aware of the rules around here. I'd just chock it up as a learning experience and not something personal.

If the company posted the pics, then they either got permission or they didn't. If it was without permission, then Cedar Point either doesn't care or isn't aware of it. Regardless, that doesn't support an argument to post said things on here. The rules still stand until Cedar Point gives permission or releases the information on their own terms.

I may have missed something, but can someone tell me what company website you're referring to?

The Sandusky area is not quite the ghost town its perceived to be in the winter. Try traveling on 250 in the retail district from Kalahari all the way into Downtown Sandusky on a Saturday or Sunday. Plus the Catawba Island area has a lot of activity during the winter as well.
