Special effects and theaming not repaired anymore?

I never understood the big fuss about the lights/theme out of the tunnel on Maverick. Riders are in the tunnel for less than 10 seconds. The lights look nice, but really do not add anything to the ride. Plus, the effects are not seen by anybody accept the riders.

Go to :48, and you can see the entrance of the tunnel allows a lot of light in:

Now go to :45 on this one, and you can see that the tunnel is dark:

I think they removed something allowing sunlight from the station to shine down on the track. Maybe not side walls removed, but something. I know for a fact that the tunnel was altered, resulting in it being brighter, but I just never found out the reason.

And Maverickoo, I'm not saying that's what happened, but you would be amazed at what Cedar Point can do in crunched time.

I'm too sexy for my harness!

Let me start with this, Disaster Transport for example. Back when I was a small kid maybe in 93 or 94 my dad told me DT was a museum with things about cities. (He was scared of rollercoasters I was alittle bit too) I went in and noticed abunch of Cities I believe posters on the wall of the infamous Disaster Transport. I fondly remember one being Disaster Transport Japan? It memory serves me correct. I remember going up the stairs and seeing a TV with like an astronaut speaking about the flight. Little to my demise my dad fooled me and I was boarding a shuttle to Alaska, I was quite worried how I would get home! The ride was themed pretty good! A big number was lit up on some metal scrap there was lasers like all over the place, a projector was on showing something I dont remember and a man screaming mission control im losing control. This is what made the ride. Would we even be talking about Disasters removal if that theming was still up to date? It seemed like an awesome ride for everyone at the time. Cleaning up the ride area back in 2005 with the lights on you can see just how bad the theming really was that had broken down. Projector room had so much dust on the projector and the screen had a burnt hole in it. Looks like the budget for that ride was scrapped quite some time ago. Sorry If I'm wrong on some theming it was quite sometime ago.

There was nothing covering the area below the station. You're looking at two different videos, shot with two different cameras at two different times of day.

The older version was shot in the morning using a camera with fixed exposure. The newer one was shot in the afternoon with a new camera with variable exposure.

The amount of light is the same - it's just position of the sun and types of cameras. But the strip lights were definitely removed. :)

I'm not sure if this has been discussed but I went to the park today and Maverick's lights were FULLY operational. They seem to be colored though and not the old blue lights. That's the first time I've seen them fully on in years.

Thank you Bill Nye the Science Guy. If you actually read the posts prior, you would see that I remember the tunnel being completely dark in 2007/2008. Regardless of the time of day, the sunlight entering the station was non existent when it first opened.

I'm glad to know that the lights finally work! That's awesome, considering they haven't worked for over a year and a half

I disagree. I recall seeing light enter - from both the sides and top of the tunnel - all the way back to 2007. What Guide_Wheel pointed out seems to be the likely culprit for the different appearance in those videos.

Also keep in mind that those two videos were shot at different times of the year, which means the sun is in a different position in the sky - even at the same time of day. That would result in very different lighting results in the videos, in addition to the considerations GW mentioned.
