The Mysterious, possible footers

Another thing to think about is other "secret" locations for footers. They could have poured footers in the lagoon while it was drained this winter, couldn't they?

Wicked twists: 3
Danger: Hgih Voltage!

First I want to say that this a very interesting thread and there are a lot of posts that can be true with the new work being done.

I saw the old Skyride cars and some other things wrapped in plastic that I couldnt figure out what they were. I dont recall them before.

I have info from an employee who says "it's going to be very tall" and that is all she said. Other than that I have no clue. I imagine it would be something that the family can ride since it is so close to Camp Snoopy. I doubt it would be anything major but who knows.

I like the speculating and hearing the rumors too, but we will just have to wait for something concrete...and Im not just talking about footers.

Man you guys are getting me all excited about next season, and it's only opening day +1! :) Jeff brought up the question I was going to ask--Why do it now? It's way early, the season has just begun. Pete's response gets me even more hyped up about this. I know we may be setting ourselves up for a fall, but there is definitely something going on there.

All I have to say is that if it turns out to be Intamin, then Cedar Fair/Cedar Point must really have a good relationship with the company, and must really like their rides. Cedar Fair is a company that usually buys from the same company in a season, and installs several rides from that company throughout the chain. (I/E Intamin with WT and Xcelerator this year) Next year, perhaps there will be another ride pack for CF...I smell MIA getting their hyper...:)

Snoopy Rocks! On Ice starts June 22--Do you think they'll let me drive the Zamboni machine?

I want to drive the Zamboni!

Anyone out there into construction?

By looking at the amount of sand on MF island, I
would guess that the holes under those rings are
pretty big.

Anyone know how long it takes concrete/w rebar to cure? Especially covered?

Could it be that they poured them this early, so they are cured and ready for construction this fall of whatever is going there?

My guess as to what it is..something fun....and not for the kids.

I could be wrong and we will see a resteraunt go there. If it is going to be a resteraunt, It's going to be one hell of a resteraunt......

lol

:)

Have a good one. Forgive the spelling.

How about the first sit down and eat restaurant while you ride a wild and crazy ride at the same time ;)

Just a thought on the fence and sand. If they had heavy equipment through there, I would see a need to backfill the drained lagoon for a firm and level path. That might be what the sand is from.

3 Twists-Back seat rocks!

Hmmm, my first thought was that this talk was garbage, but you are guys are starting to convince me that something big is going in. Maybe they poured footers early to eliminate risk of injury when the park opens (now) and so that construction can begin right away in October for next May. Could make for a fun summer of speculation, even if it turns out to be something small.
By specification, concrete cures in 28 days. Technically it never "cures" that is the chemical bonding process never stops, but after 28 days, the concrete is to have the minimum strength required by the specification. After 28 days, the curing process slows down do much, it's not worth waiting any longer.

Someone mentioned something about why they would be putting footers in now six months ahead or something. Perhaps a new ride is coming towards the end of this year, much like VertiGone when it opened in August...

Upon further review, I'm beginning to think it won't be an Intamin launch. I only saw two footers exposed. That means only two supports. Unless Intamin changed their design in track and structure recently, there should be more footers exposed, that is if they're complete with the foundation work in that area. Not having seen the pit dug for these footers as to base a theory, it's almost pointless to speculate what is actually going in there because it could be almost anything.

This is all we know. There are two footers, round in nature, that are about 100' apart, on the former site of Dodgem I.

It's going to be a long summer.

ShiveringTim- If you looked over behind The Fence (tm) while riding Gemini you only saw 2 footers, but if you were riding Millennium Force and looked that direction while coming over the Magnum hill you were able to see the third. Also, from what I saw the footers looked square, but I could be wrong.

My sources are telling me it's a coaster! The ground was tested last year, for a coaster!

Yes, the footers are square. Equipment can be brought to MF island with the movable bridge that was installed when MF was built. If it is an Intamin launched ride, I'm thinking the launch will be across the lagoon and most of the ride will be on the island. Of course, everything discussed here could be totally wrong, and the people at CP are ROTFL reading this thread. :)

The ground was tested?

"Yep, it's the ground! We can indeed build something on it!"

Hey, aboout the Thrust Air 2000, I remember reading something about how CP would continue to do business with S&S. Maybe that is some sort of clue that CP has plans with S&S for next year! Wow, i'm really dreaming...

Yeah I know, I spelled Millennium wrong, so lay off! j/k

Wow, I thought all this speculation ended last November! Now that I've enjoyed that ride three times, we're speculating again!

I definately think this will be one of two things. It could be like VertiGo and open toward the end of the season this year and be a fairly small project.

Or it could be something really massive that won't be ready until 2003. I know it was just rumors, but do you remember all the people who said durring the WT speculation that there would be something huge on the island for the 2003 season.

I really don't have a clue as to what it will be, but I'm pretty sure it will be on of the two mentioned above. I hope it's a coaster, and I hope it's huge!

"What will it be in 2003?"
VertiGo: VertiGone but not forgotten.

We'll have to wait and see. Not to worried about it now. It's riding time!
