Time to replace Snoopy?

Does anyone remember when McDonalds had "Camp Snoopy" merchandise back in 1983?? You could purchase a Camp Snoopy drinking glass with purchase.

Not a shabby idea to revive. Just a thought.

Yes I remember that! I have all the glasses on my shelf in my room! That would be a cookl idea!

A big improvement?

You must not have seen all the golden tickets the park has won for the kiddy land themed to nick. How many golden tickets has snoopy won?

And I have never found sponge bob all that educational.

Kings Island wins golden tickets not because of nick, but because of the high quality of there rides in the children section, if it were snoopy or scooby doo, or Star Wars it would win the same tickets, because they have great kid rides, theming aside.

I'm no fan of Nick, but my kids sure are. They don't know who Snoopy is, but my 19 mo old son does the "we did it!" dance from Dora and my daughter loves to learn about animals with Diego. A lot of adults are saying "adults and kids love Snoopy", but I'm wondering how much that matters, really. I don't go to CP because I like Snoopy, I go for the coasters. My kids would be vocally screaming to go if they could meet Dora and Diego. We'd buy a ton of merchandise with Dora on it... Snoopy is benign, but not exciting for the kids.

I still say that Snoopy and Nick could coexist at CP. If Bugs and the Looney Tunes can coexist with Thomas the Tank Engine and Cartoon Network characters at larger SF parks, there is no reason the same couldn't happen at CP. Just have one area for Snoopy and one for Nick.

^ Have you seen how that worked out with Sixflags?

Let's Get Weird.

^Yes I have, they each have their separate areas where you can find them. Its really not all that hard.

^I would rather CP use the extra space for another coaster, there are plenty of kids areas at CP already. IMO :)

Cedar Point, Americas rip- rockin', high flyin', sky defyin', record breakin' roller coast

:) If you could replace snoopy with anything you'd want, what would it be? (just a fun question)

Jessica Rabbit. Definitely.

Dora the Explorer and Bob the Builder would be way...more popular than Snoopy.

Plus I can think of all kinds of theming they could do for Dora and Bob.

As long as we actually get Jessica and not that lookalike that tricked Eddie.

I absolutely disagree. Aside from the rehab of the flume, most of those rides were there before the Nick Universe theme before they started getting recognized. And seeing as how the AT poll is just a silly popularity contest, I'd say mission accomplished.

Well most of the kids rides at KI are relatively new, now maybe most did predate Nick, I'm not postitive on that, I know avitar didn't, however you are right about one thing some times you can be the best and not get noticed, doing a remodel and retheming the place can get you attention no matter what theme it is.
It seems kind of funny, do kids care about this stuff as much as we do? maybe so, but when I was a kid, I didn't pay any attention to theming, nor did I care, I was there to ride rides. Plain and simple, I didn't care if it was the Smurf's or Rocky and Bullwinkle, I was there to ride. The kids in my family are the same way, maybe it's not that way for other kids, but it sure was for me.

Ahh how I miss Hanna Barbera Land at Kings Island. I have pics from the late 70's/early 80's...and there were some pretty cool "boat rides"- 2 in particular that featured almost all of the classic Hanna Barbera characters, plus a few of the then current late 70's faves.

The best (IMO) was the giant TV that you entered and saw Audio Animatronic 70's cartoon icons. It was later turned into the Smurf ride, and then Phantom Theater, I believe.

Something along those lines would be pretty nifty.

Snoopy and the peanuts gang is nostaglic and a symbol for cp. I love seeing them when i go there. This is just like when someone mentioned the idea of Disney going to Cp. I just dont even wanna think about that crap coming there.

Keep the Peanuts gang.

Yes The Enchanted Voyage was the best, what a shame it was removed. Remember the days when you could go to amusement parks and ride water rides that didn't require that you get drenched, such was the Enchanted Voyage - a nice boat ride with no dreching aspect. At least CP has paddle Wheel Excursion but it is rare these days to find a boat ride where you leave the ride dry.

I agree that they could have several themes in the park! I know I am a Snoopy fan all the way, but many little ones are Nick fans. So keep both!
