Top Thrill Might lose its record in 2005, Possibly.

Well, I just got back from six flags great adventure. While riding i saw the trucks pull up into the construction area for their new ride. They began to unload Huge supports that look similar to TTD's, except bigger! I was amazed by how massive these supports were. Not only is the main tower support wider, It has more bolts as well.

I know there have been rumors of it being the tallest and fastest in the world, But I didnt think they were true. Now i really believe it. Looks like TTD might lose its title as the worlds tallest and fastest much sooner then i thought, To a park i'd never expect. I wonder, could this change CP's plans for the future. Here is the link to the pictures if some people havent seen yet...

Wow. If this thing is true, I wonder if Cedar Point has replacements signs already made to replace the ones that say "The World's Tallest Coaster" and "The World's Fastest Coaster".
Not to mention the, SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY Speil in the queue. ;) It would be very low of SF to just clone this ride and make it a few feet taller.

They all need shot.......

Multiple times...

I doubt the ride will be as tall as TTD. The stats I saw call for the SFGAdv coaster to be 2,480' long, TTD is 2,800' long. That alone tells me the coaster at SFGAdv will not be as tall or as fast.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I'll agree the supports do look the same but don't you think if it would be as tall and as fast they would be confident it would run consistently and then they would be able to fix dragster so it wouldnt break down as much?
#1. Six Flags Doesent have the Dough to pay for a ride of TTD's Magnitude. They are in debt up to their eyeballs.
#2. If they were going to put in a ride like that, they would put it in SFMM, mainly because thats their King park, andim sure they would wanna get ahead of CP in the coaster count and have a record breaker for a change.
#3. Why would thy put in a ride like TTD knowing that all the kinks still need to be worked out.
I think that SF:GADV woulod want to go for a record breaker. But I have to be realistic and I think that there is a strong possibility that it will be reocrd breaker and De-thrown TTD. Why else would they start building and site prep this early in the season. If I remember correctly TTD's parts did not arrive till Mid-Aug. I really hope that CP can keep the record but if SF does build the tallest that will just give CP more reasons to build a 500 footer.

If you want to meet people at the point Write PB (pointbuzz) on your left palm. Make sure you use a red marker.

Exactly, and even if they did snatch CP's record (very doubtful) there is the rumor that before CP's Vice President leaves, they will once again break the record.

Raptor Crew 2008

D*mn straight! Cedar Point won't settle for seconds!
Hell yea. When he dose leaver the ride he leaves will be heard around the world. And i want to be first to ride it. is he live in 07
well look at those pictures , they look like wicked twister supports, but also on the other hand I think six flags is going to build the tallest and fastest , just to see if people will come and spend more money to ride it. But we all know that cp. will build a bigger coaster becuase they always want to have the best coasters in the world. So I wouldn't get worried because I know cp will build bigger if six flags tops them . And I have also heard rumors about cedar point might build something big in 2005 who knows we will just have to wait and see.

:-P

I really dont want a TTD clone, Nor do i want TTD's record broken, But i only have one theory supporting that it won't be a record breaker and why those supports are thicker in diameter then TTD's. Here is how i imagined this layout to be....

Shortend Launch - Tophat (around 300 FT) - Overbank - Back to tower - Smaller tophat - Brakes. It would be an amazing layout and shouldn't look soo much different from Xcel, Except for another tophat. Then that would explain the huge supports. They would need them to hold 2 tophats on it. Other then that, I cant see anything else other then a record breaker. They could do multiple things to cut down 300 FT of track. Like less trains, Less blocks, Shorter launch and brake run. Single load/unload. Anyway, I hope TTD still stands as tallest next year.

I've always found it amusing that Six Flags builds coasters over their parking lots. (ie. "Scream at SFMM)

DemonDroppin', how often do you visit Cedar Point?
Yeah, I think for this coaster to be 400 feet shorter, I don't see how they could be going for the record. The launch can't possibly be much shorter, I would think.

The launch and the brake run would both have to be shorter, I don't see it happening. I can see a 300' version of TTD going in over there however.

than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Because you live in Las Vegas...

I make it back to the Northern OH area 3-4 times a summer visiting family/friends, and we usually go to CP at least a day or two each trip. I've always had a CP season pass, even living out west. Using it at KBF is a great bonus.
