Top Thrill Might lose its record in 2005, Possibly.

that what i think. you cant tell any think from those pics any way. you could be 3 feet tall lay on the ground and take a pic and you could look 6 feet 5in tall
Some of you just don't listen. We all know magnum was the first to exceed 200 ft. That doesn't mean that there isn't a better 200f t roller coaster out there. All I'm saying is that the first of a kind is not always the best of that kind.

Go Ravens and Lakers, don't worry, we'll bounce back.

X at SFMM is frickin awesome, it's a must ride for all coaster fans.

perculata, you're talking alot of nonsense right now. Who said Magnum was the best 200 ft. coaster out there? And where do you get all of us "CP fans" being threatened by this new coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure that we basically know nothing about? Sounds like you are just trying to incite an arguement of some type?

What in the hell?

thepoint4life.. what are you trying to say? It makes no sense. What pictures are you talking about?
THe ones of the tracks. like you cant tell much from them. you can dose stuff to make things look bigger then they really are
If some of you aren't threatened then why say this?

rathofdoom:

If it is...I'll find some six flags MM fansite and go prove to them that CP ownz them. Simply because we have had the world's tallest coaster record 4 times!

CP is better. Who cares about SFMM.

Why attack SF if no threat is felt. He had to build CP up so he attacked MM. Thats also funny because that's not even the park in question. If you are going to put down a park at least do the right one.

rockdown2g:

Especially given that we're just breaking records just for the sake of breaking records. We're not making cool roller coasters anymore, just record breaking machines.

How do you know that this coaster is going to break a record. And if it does how do you know their intentions. Last time I checked a SF park didn't have a 400 ft roller coaster. Maybe they want to please their visitors and not make them have to travel to CP to ride one. Just because SF might build a better coaster doesn't mean that they are just doin it to break records. They obviously want to make money and that requires pleasing their guests, so giving them a world class coaster is one way of doing that.

That statement in general is arrogant. You think because someone may break your record that you should discount them becuase they're just doing it to be better than you. Not everything is about Cedar Point. You have no idea what they're building and why their building it.

OoO OoO!!! I wanna join in on the perculata bashing!! Dude, the Lakers suck. Pistons are the champs bud. I'm guessing you're from LA, or at least i'm hoping you are. I've always wanted to gloat in one of your faces.

Anyway.... yeah, um us CP fans can care less what SFGadv gets. If it's taller than 420', we'll just build one even taller in a few years.

Don't start with me, but stop the little park fued going on here, if you want to fight go join the families on paddlewheel excursions already in progress, or one at a Six Flags park somewhere!

Also, thepoint4life23 who are you, where do you live, how old are you, and why don't you just take the minute or two to read over your topics and check you spelling etc... for once.

Back on topic a little, as said by DemonDroppin' in page one, what is it with Six Flags building their new rides/coasters over their parking lots?

Aside from the kiddies that aren't even old enough to drive to the park, the majority of fans on this site could care less about records. The majority also realizes that the impact of a bigger ride in New Jersey or LA will mean exactly nothing to the success of Cedar Point. I would even venture to say that most of us would take a functional, fun, non-record-breaking ride at this point over another ride breaks records and doesn't work half the time.

Cedar Point has won the Golden Ticket award for the best amusement park in the world for six years in a row, and last year was the only one of those years that they had the tallest and fastest roller coaster. There's a lot more to Cedar Point than one or two coasters.

Yawn. Records mean very little in designing a great ride, at least from a riders standpoint. The only benefit to having the "fastest" and "tallest" is for marketing purposes. Cedar Point has won the Golden Ticket award because they consistently produce great rides like FrontierDale said. If Dragster loses the record so what. It isn't gonna make the ride suddenly less exciting or make Cedar Point second fiddle to some other park.
I think perculata needs to keep quite and so do the rest of you. I have been going to cedar point since i was around the age of 4. I love the park to death. No other park in the world is even close to Cedar Point. What i am trying to say is we all love roller coasters. I dont care who has the biggest ride. If SFGA builds a taller one Hell Yeah. I just love to ride them. The bigger the better no matter where. So yall need to calm down and get a grip. Stop arguing and people need to stop starting arguments. Enjoy the 2004 season all.
You people still fail to listen. I'm not saying CP sucks. Its an amazing park and no six flags park is at its level right now. All I'm mentioning is how some people reacted to the news. It's amazing how some CP fans did get defensive when they hear their record might be broken. I'm not saying SFGA is better, I'm not even really caring about the parks right now, I was talking about the CP fans. Somehow you have managed to misunderstand what I said. I'm just talking about how some CP fans can't stand not having the record breaker in their park.

Go Ravens and Lakers, don't worry, we'll bounce back.

some CP fans

Some, not most. Why are you concerned with what a small minority thinks? Don't lump all fanboys into one category.

Wait a sec, CP's record for tallest and fastest coaster might be dethrowned! I'm upset and mad, I feel like getting defensive;)! Not mocking you, Perculata, just wanted to be a smart ass. I know what you mean by people, including myself, who might get a little jealous over another park having the biggest coaster. I'll admit to feeling somewhat resentful of another place beating CP's record, but I'm sure a lot of people feel that way just a little.

Smoking Marijuana isn't a bad thing or even a good one, like everything else, its what you make of it.

Thank you, finally a person man enough to say what most of you are thinking. My point is proved.

Hey Eric H.:

But for Six Flags fans (do they really exist?), one might argue that all Dragster did was go a little higher (what, about 20 feet) than Superman at Magic Mountain while completing a full coaster circuit, which is a noteworthy achievement.

But of course, CP argues that Superman isn't really a coaster. Frankly, I'd like to get a rollback on Dragster to get a bit of an idea of what Superman is like. But in 20-plus rides, it has yet to happen.

I am a Six Flags fan. I find that you can actually vacation somewhere cool for an extended period of time AND plan a trip to the amusement park during the same trip. I mean, common, who (in general) spends any time in Northern Ohio?

I never had a rollback on TTD, but I did ride Superman: The Escape. The launch is okay (lame by today's launching standards but keep in mind its almost 10). The tower is awesome though because you get the longest feeling of weightlessness I've ever seen on a ride. Not to mention I absolutely love how loud Superman is. Sounds like a screaming jet, makes you feel like you have to ride it.

People used to go to Geagua Lake and Sea World for a long weekend vacation. They would also do stuff like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and an Indian's game. There is lots of stuff to do in Cleveland.

What point? Your only point throughout this entire barrage of insults at CP fans is that you are an idiot with nothing better to do than to fabricate ways of pissing other people off.

You're a mind reader?

I'm glad you feel that way. Now you can move along knowing that you showed all them dumb CP fans. We'll miss you.

Just because the supports are bigger doesnt mean the ride will be bigger. It could easily just be a design change. We all know how great that Intamin steel can be.

Shorty, I agree with you. Look at the modifications made to Wicked Twister, as well as, Steel Venom.

Also, has anyone noticed the weld marks on one of the supports on TTD?
(I apologize if this has been covered, as this is only my second post!)

My engineering by trade Bro-in-law, has shown me the weld markings on the first section of yellow support on the curve of the launch track. Other welded spots on the same beam that were exposed one evening were painted by the next day, btw.

I mention this, because couldn't Intamin have learned from TTD to build a beefier support, whether or not it will be taller and faster then TTD?
