VCR ALERT!!-Monday, May 29

There are three new one hour specials on Discovery Channel tonight- "Top 10 Coasters", "Scream Parks" and "Extreme Rides 2000". I'm sure Milleninum Force and other CP goodies will be in there along with lots of cool stuff from other places. Starts at 8 pm EST.
Also, if you missed them from last year, the following appear on the travel channel (all times Eastern):

Amusement Parks: The pursuit of fun; 1p
Extreme Rides; 11a & 7p
Wild Rides; 3p
Wild Rides 2; 5p

Are they all new? I was under the impression that the "Top 10" show was a replay of last year's where NAPHA picked Thunderbolt as the #1 coaster.

Wasn't going to bother watching that one again, but if it's new...well then that's a different story.
I beleive the "Top 10 Coasters" show is a rerun,
but the other two are new, so by 9:00 it's new.
Check out Discovery.com for more info.
Ok, thought so about the top 10 one.

The "Scream Parks" preview on Direct TV makes it sound like it's going to be a WHOLE LOT of Six Flags stuff. But maybe that's just their take on it. Hope so.

The must see of the night is Extreme Rides 2000. It will include some MF stuff.

Can't wait! Hope they give MF some good airtime. No pun intended ;)
Whoa, some other show is also on Entertainment TV right now! It's 7:50 est right now.
Where is cp looks like all six flags
Well so much for the shows, huh? Sheesh I guess Discovery technically wasn't lying, they showed 30 seconds of rendered MF video. What a disappointment.

"Extreme Rides 2000" pissed me off-they managed to show tons more rendered SOB video than they did MF. Talking about SOB like it is just THE most awesome thing ever built-(does anyone even know if this thing is even RUNNING yet?) Then to turn around and SIMPLY say "the worlds tallest and fastest roller coaster in the world" when showing the BRIEF video of MF truly made me want to email Discovery and ask what the deal was.
But then maybe felt I was taking it all alittle too personal.
The 10 top coaster poll was from last year-I only have 1 comment about it-the Thunderbolt #1 coaster in the world? I've ridden it
no way

Welcome back Raptor riders-how was your flight??
They should have named Extreem Rides 2000 to
SFMM Park Hour. I was amazed at the tool crib that's at SFMM. They said that they have "every" spare part needed to fix any ride that breaks.
How does CP compare to SFMM in the spare parts catagory?

Cedar Point's tool crib is equally impressive, if not more so. Anything you can imagine is in there.

new MF photos
-The Thunderbolt is in now way the greatest coaster.
-They should have just called the 2nd show "The way SFMM works" or something instead of screamparks.
-They could have shown more of MF in the E.R. 2000
show but remember it just opened 3 weeks ago, so just wait until the new "Wild Rides" and "Top 10 Coasters" come out.
that's what i was thiniing...wait tik next year!! of course, lots can change between now and then...

can't believe they cancelled the Simpsons after all these years...now look sad and say D'OH!!

That top 10 is last years, but even still I think it's safe to assume a few things about the membership of NAPHA:

- They tend to be older and like the classics. Thunderbolt is a great ride, no question about it. While it is unique and great fun, I'm not sure I'd place it that high.
- A large percentage lives near Kennywood. Why else would you choose Phantom for anything positive?

I thought that Scream Parks was a really interesting show, even if it was all SFMM. I wish I could see a behind-the-scenes show like that about CP, but oh well. SFMM looked like a very very impressive park from the show. I wish I could take a trip there....but I know that isn't happening any time soon.
I was angry, even the online poll showed Magnum was number 1. I don't think a lot of the roller coasters should have even been on the poll. I knew some how they would aviod Cedar Point. Thats why I made that post "Some Coaster shows make me mad"
I personally liked all three shows. Screamparks showed a cool look inside an amusement park. I thought that it was good for them to focus on one park. If they had jumped around, they wouldn't have been able to explain the running procedures as coherently.

Extreme Rides 2000 was great also. Of course they didn't show much of the brand new rides. They haven't been open long enough for much footage or many testimonials about how great they are. I didn't think that Millennium Force got jilted at all, they didn't show much of it, but they didn't show much of the other new ones either.

I loved the fact that they featured such a long segment on Shivering Timbers. When I went to Michigan's Adventure last year, I couldn't believe that such an awsome ride was in my home state of Michigan. I hope that this show brings it increased visibility and attention.

However, I have one question. Was Discovery Channel wrong when they said that Shivering Timbers is the longest wooden roller coaster with only one lift hill. I thought that Mean Streak was longer. Plus, I know that Son of Beast is longer, but has probably not been opened long enough for them to count it yet.

...and enjoy the rest of your day at Cedar Point, The Am-aaaa-zement park!
I watched all shows and taped them all too. I thought they were all good. Then again Ill watch any show that deals with coasters/rides. One thing I really liked was that skycoaster ride that was in Extreme Rides 2000. The one where it had 2 cars on the ends and it spins around. Did anyone else see that? It would be awesome if CP could get one of those. Another show that was cool was Scream Parks. Magic Mountain looks like a sweet park and now I want to go check it out.
