Track has arrived!

No reason they couldn't bring in both Triotech and Garner Holt. A limited number of animatronics would be easy enough to update/move about as needed.

Exactly. And no one is expecting "seven-dwarfs"-level animatronics. I'm sure some people find them cheesy, but there is just something endlessly magical (especially from a child's perspective) about some nicely-done animatronics that makes a dark-ride experience memorable. And if they do go the interactive route (not a fan, but I'm expecting it and hoping for the best), this would be a nice way to improve the experience in my opinion.

I'm also not a fan of interactive dark rides, being a lazy sot who would rather just sit in the ride vehicle and enjoy the show. But I get why they're popular.

When we go to WDW -- we rode Toy Story Mania once. We ride Pirates every time. They do bring a special charm to an attraction.

Some things are timeless and never go out of style and I think figures and animatronics have had staying power.

I also totally get why they're popular, but my whole family had the same experience. No one enjoyed Toy Story Mania enough to want to do it again, but Pirate Ride? Couldn't get enough. I must have passed down the "not so big on interactive-rides gene". I think it's on the 5th chromosome.

Has any footers been spotted yet at the park for the new ride?

Believe me, as soon as a cement truck is spotted within five miles of the park, you will know.

The area is up on the cedar point live streams on the website right now and I see no sign of footers

I'm at the park and no footers. Just paint and flags around and a lot of people.

Footers don't just show up randomly.

New at eleven; coaster enthusiasts now searching for "BIG FOOTERS" in Sandusky.

Don't you just love this time of year. All this speculation and the thought of a new coaster at my favorite Amusement Park!

Why one fence? The proposed track layout suggests the new ride will be next to the raptor at some point. Why is there no fence along the blue streak midway too the marina gate? Only the Good time theatre area is blocked off with a high wooden fence. Is this a misdirection tactic, or is the dive coaster something like a spaghetti-twisted track layout?

The second fence has been there all year (defunct Turnpike cars entrance) to the right of Blue Streak. The proposed layout stretches from the old Calypso spot to the proximity of the Luminosity bleachers, if the leaked video posted online has been correct. Also those utility "markings" have been by Cadillac Cars months ago (as stated on other topics on this site) so other websites are now "late to the dance" with this info and these pics. Whether the CC will be removed to view the dive element from the midway remains to be seen, but since we have the Antiques in FT, I'd get some last pics in if I were you. Now, where to put that dark ride in a few years? haha.

Dark rides are the last refuge of a scoundrel. Avalanache Run became the Disaster transport and where are they now? The keeper of the front gate can prove you're wrong today. I want to see the Peanuts movie this winter but, having them in my childhood, "70's-80's are they still the go-to attraction for a dark ride?

Actually they do. Aliens land overnight and drop them off.

Um..... what?

I really have no idea what this means. Dark rides may be the last refuge of a scoundrel, but I daresay they're an early refuge for parks seeking to add popular attractions.

Avalanache Run became the [sic] Disaster transport and where are they now?

The same place Oceana, White Water Landing, Broadway Trip, Scamper and the Eden Musee wax museum are... gone from the park. Rides and attractions being removed from the park is far from unusual.

I want to see the Peanuts movie this winter but, having them in my childhood, "70's-80's are they still the go-to attraction for a dark ride?

Considering that in the earliest years of your childhood, Peanuts had already been around for two decades, and considering that one of the largest operator of regional parks in the country has found it worthwhile to keep Peanuts in the parks for several decades, and considering that a major movie studio and a major CG studio together responsible for a number of successful CGI films decided to make a Peanuts movie...

...yeah, they're probably a good hook to hang a dark ride on.

With B&M dive track showing up at Breakers Express and all the leaks / clues that's we've gotten up to this point, I've really been intrigued by the upcoming announcement. If the leaked plans are ture, I really hope that Cedar Point pays attention to the "theming" of the ride. Whether that theming is "Valravn" or "Dive Coaster 1" I really would like to see off ride elements that enhance the ride experience. From watching many POV videos of other dive coasters, it looks like the best / most of dive coasters have "elements" to go through or have a good amount of theming. I know Cedar Point isn't big on theming but It does add a level of excitement to the ride. Try to imagine Maverick without any of the canyons. Would it be the same ride? Yes. But would the same level of excitement be there? Same thing with the keyholes of Gatkeeper. If the plans for Valravn that have been leaked are true, then I'm really interested in what other effects Cedar Point will add to the ride that will give it even and extra boost!

^ I totally agree with the theming. I was just at Kings Island this past weekend and they are so much better at theming. The theming made Adventure Express that much more enjoyable. Plus Banshee's station was really nicely designed. It wasn't just some generic building like most are at CP.
