Possible new announcement date, 9/11/15.

^ Well, yes? Were you unaware of that when you chose Windows Phone, the vastly unpopular platform that has poor third-party app support? :)

Well that's the thing, I don't really care; maybe that's the defining attribute of us Windows-Phone folk. I was assuming this was the case, but tossed it out there just in case.

Then again, it's my first "smart" phone. Maybe my attitude will change, but I really dig my little Nokia.

Looking forward to this announcement already.

Promoter of fog.

Sadly, yep.. Very few apps make it beyond Android and iOS. So much so that it sounds like Microsoft will make future versions of Windows Phone run Android apps.

This seems very similar to Fury... the FAA denied clearance for Fury due to the height, until the park showed them the approval the FAA gave to SkyTower, which was even taller. The FAA then approved Fury.

Also, this seems to be the issue:

Section 77.17(a)(2) - A height that is 200 feet AGL, or above the established airport elevation, whichever is

higher, within 3 nautical miles of the established reference point of an airport with its longest runway more
than 3,200 feet in actual length. The proposed structure would exceed by 13 feet.

Cedar Point listed their distance in their submission from the highest point to the intersection of the two runways at the airport, which is 19215.51 ft, or 3.16 nautical miles. The FAA determined the distance to be 17,907 ft, or 2.94 nm from the closest endpoint of either runway.

Oh, and in case you were wondering what the 3 nautical mile radius is from the point the FAA used:

And where does the listed highest point of the coaster land?

Why hasn't cedar point run into this problem before?

Well... notice windseeker is just outside the 3 nm boundary. Gatekeeper and Wicked Twister are both below the limit set forth by the faa. (Interestingly there are no filings for either wicked twister or gatekeeper, but there is one for a lighting study on windseeker)

What about Space Spiral you ask? Well, it was built before 1979 when the FAA had first received information on Griffing Airport.

CP and Tony Clark keep saying "All will become clear" in 2016. Maybe that means CP is buying SKY and all the airspace will be cleared?

If not, I'm sure CP will ask the FAA for a further study. The airport has been stagnant for two years, and they'd be fighting over something 13 feet too tall by just 6 hundredths of a nautical mile too close. Give me a break. I'm patiently.... PATIENTLY... waiting for 9am.

According to the VP of communications and PR for Cedar Fair:

@CarolynMcLean

Watch The Today Show at 9 am est for a big Cedar Point announcement. Woot Woot.

it's almost here!!

Does anyone know if the event will be broadcast anywhere (livestream/periscope), or if there is anyone attending the event that can live stream and post a link I'm sure the community would greatly appreciate it! :) Thanks!

If you search up on twitter you can find lots of accounts who will be streaming.

SV ruins all other rides.

CPRundown will be broadcasting on Periscope

Ugh, that article was posted by Susan Glaser. Watch her post something about what Valravn means to create more controversy.

My apologies for asking such a simple question. If I had access to either of the options suggested above I would not have asked. I am not a Twitter user and it would be quite frowned upon to order a cable package while at the office. lol Thank you to samosuband and Walt for providing me the info I needed. You rock!

Hope the event and announcement goes well today!

The app just starting working for me! Looks like trains are 8 seats.

Same here. Leaked layout and guessed location/orientation is accurate.

Marina entrance goes beneath the ride as suspected, and connects to BS midway.

I really hope they have a dressed-up Valravn mascot at this announcement... that worked out super well with Gatekeeper!
