Rip cord could fit in that area nicely.

Perhaps ... But what sense does it make to put another up-charge attraction (re-locating an existing one at that) INSIDE Cedar point ?? They already have Slingshot - which why it isn't out near SkyScraper, the go-karts and the rest of the stuff is anyone's guess. If you want to ride RipCord all you have to do is get a hand stamp at the Magnum gate, go out, get on it, and come back in ... The only thing moving it to where STR was will accomplish is screwing the people going to Soak City and Challenge Park.

This also has already been confirmed Rip Cord will take up a PARTIAL foot print of Shoot the Rapids but leaves room for further expansion.

I understand that it would only take up part of the footprint ... But why move it period ?? If the thinking behind it is to "make more money", eliminating a significant portion of your on location attendance from having a chance to ride doesn't seem to be the best way of going about it.

Park officials might believe the up-charge attraction will generate more revenue relocating it inside the park where there's a lot more foot traffic. I imagine the amount of park visitors who get hand stamped and walk through the Soak City/Resort area is very slim compared to those that remain in the park all day.

I wonder what the odds are that with a Soak City expansion if they can make it all one park like MA, KI, and Carowinds. Moving the Challenge Park rides, Expanding Soak City and making it all one park would be the best move forward.

I would think instead there would be a greater emphasis on Platinum Pass sales.

This seems to be the point. The park appears to be removing Challenge Park as they have done in other CF properties and move these attractions inside the park for more revenue and foot traffic. We know that all you have to do is get a a hand stamp and walk out to ride it, but I would be willing to bet a significant portion of park guests either don't or don't want to. But having this on a main midway inside the park will generate more interest.

Once inside the park I would love for them to take a King's Island approach to pricing and have it super cheap in the morning (as low as $5 per flyer, or maybe they only do this with Slingshot) to generate interest and as park goers keep seeing people fly, the price then rises throughout the day as the park gets busier.

IF removal of StR and relocating Ripcord is confirmed at WCO one can assume that a Soak City expansion similar to the Carolina Harbor expansion is a logical step the park is going to take in the near future.

In regards to combining the parks, I doubt we would ever see that. Cedar Point is more of a multi-day resort destination of a regional park. To keep that vibe you keep the parks separate making it a 2, 3, or 4 day vacation for resort guests. Combining the parks wouldn't make sense for them. It works for other parks in the chain but I think it's set up perfectly the way it is for Point.

Who said this has been confirmed? I feel like there are better places to relocate Ripcord to than on such a prominent piece of land.

While there is good reason to believe that STR may be going away, the only information we have on Challenge Park is what a poster in these forums have said. I don't even know why moving all of challenge park is being discussed. Moving Rip Cord to STR's location would be a bad idea considering all the other possibilities that they could add there.

I'm all for them re-locating Rip Cord to the area around Castaway Bay, or even a scrap yard for that matter. In my opinion a nice paved asphalt area in direct sunlight would be a better use of space than Rip Cord.

IF they are relocating RipCord to inside the park, and IF they want to do it over the lagoon (although again, there are so many better ways to use the lagoon)...there is a nearly equal part of land on the opposite side of the lagoon from STR...the location where Dinos Alive starts and ends...where Paddle Wheel used to be.

That's a much more highly travelled area and would fit the (lack of) theme of RipCord better.

Do what's been suggested here already, with the towers on MF island, and have it swing out towards the TTD tower.

Should just place the arch over TTD and use TTD's tower as the back tower. Then just have it swing over the queue! ;)

They need to run a cable from TTD's tower to MF's lift hill for a massive zip line!

Lol at this "article": http://www.wkyc.com/features/cedar-point-fans-celebrate-reported-de...e/41140301

Do you all get quoted by the news so frequently that you're completely unphased by it? I'm usually not one to be desperate for acceptance of my posts, but I thought I'd get more than 1 like for linking a news article that quotes many of you. Oh well.

I could swear there was...

I just thought it was kind of funny and interesting that the news quoted a few posters here and reported on Shawn's love for STR. And that's not a joke; the news literally reported it. But it turned out to be an error in judgment on my part. I'm just not on the same page as you NEO folks!

Actually, there is nowhere near the same amount of space. Ripcord has a pretty big footprint, so trying to find space for it inside the park is a bit of a challenge. Which is all I was doing, by the way. Just building on the speculation that they are redistributing the Challenge Park and engaging in the thought exercise of how they would do that. In this case, I thought this particular idea looked like it might actually work pretty well. It does seem to fit into the landscape and create a nice looking experience. Which seems to be something they've been trying to focus on lately. Whether it makes sense from a business perspective, I have no opinion.
