Valravn Goes Vertical--Construction Starts

If you look back at the time lapse to when they were putting in the immelman you can see the massive footer they put in for this area. I was going to comment about it at that time but I thought it could have been an oversized footer for the dive loop. But it clearly looks to to be for something more now.

It almost looks like the top of a castle wall

Maybe it's where they're putting the the ring that was supposed to go on Rougarou?

I'm sorry, ring?

They did say Valravn will have castle theming via some news source... WKYC? It does look like something castle related. I'm not sure why exactly it would be a "viewing platform"... doesn't seem safe necessary or there.

EDIT: Under further review, it looks like it's just a wall. The layers look like just scaffolding as I am seeing people walking on it to reach the top area. But that doesn't really explain why such a big footer under the drop was needed.

This may be petty and random, but I wish they would update or paint that light blue food place that usually serves bratwursts and such. It kind of sticks out like a sore thumb. Maybe put some of that stone they are using on the station, photo op building, and castle-ish wall on the front of it and make it blend in a bit more. Idk, just a random thought.

Sounds like a good idea, also theme the food being offered there also.

BBQ Raven Wings, in Honey Barbecue, Cajun Dry Rub, and Extra Spicy. :P

Proud 5th Liner and CP fan since 1986.

I am still leaning toward the throne being next to the blue building, as that is going to be a great vantage point to capture the ride as apposed to having it near the entrance or exit.

The throne should be placed near the exit so that only those who have ridden Valravn can sit on the throne for a photo. Earn the right to sit on the throne.

That entrance/exit corridor seems crowded enough not to create a picture place that actually captures the drop(s) and inversion all in one picture. Get a picture and buy a brat while you are out of the traffic flow.

I'm really curious about the queue area. It almost looks like there are concrete footers, or some kind of concrete pillars. I can't make it out from the webcam.

The next month will be very exciting to see them put the finishing touches on the ride and announcements on what actually is happening with the queue area, station, gift shop, lights, ect. Not to mention test runs!

Are those stairs to the left of the blue food shack new or were they already there?

That's what I am suspecting to be the the throne area and the old ramp to the goodtime theater would serve as an ADA access and pathway with great viewing angles. Apologies for all the posts but its either that or shovel 20 inches of wet snow here in CO today.

I meant themeing, but the auto-correct on my phone changed it, ruining a perfectly good joke :-(

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

Looked at the webcams for the first time in a while and wow, they're really moving along on the leveling of the midway. Also looks like some structure work (or maybe painting) going on at Blue Streak. The Valravn project seems to be all down hill from here. Can't wait!

The webcam has been moved to Blue Streak/The parking lot, could this mean Val is testing?

There could also be a major development going on in the parking lot.

Annual seagull migration - glad I'm not going to miss it.

(or, testing - which we knew was coming sooner or later. Either one means opening day is getting closer.)

remember: no matter where you go... there you are.

I believe Adam and Wayne are both correct, the Annual Seagull Convention. The reuniting of scavengers and preparation of the 2016 season for picking up dropped food along the midways.

Perhaps it autocorrected because theming is spelled with just one "e"?
