Anyone think classic hits are fading away at Cedar Point?

I don't know if I just don't seem to listen as much to the music played at the park, but I feel as the older classic music Cedar Point plays is starting to diminish. I remember 5 years ago all the older music they would play at Soak City which set the mood of a hot summer day. The same goes for Cedar Point. Anyone else feel this way? I'm really beginning to miss all of their music choices from a few years back.

Change is good.

Well Cedar Point is more of a thrill based park (especially in the last 5 to 10 years) that tries to appeal to the teen-young adult demographic. With that means more modern/popular music to cater to those crowds. It seems the days of classic fair music is going away, even Kennywood plays more modern music now than they use too.

I miss the classic music too. Love Shack, Beach Boys, etc.

I preferred all that music compared to the current selection IMO.

The current selection is so much better. I never cared for the theme song to Magnum P.I. walking down the Gemini Midway or theme song to Dallas waiting for Maverick. FUN TV is a major improvement.

So far, I'm not that impressed with FUN TV, but I do prefer the more updated and more numerous songs in the midway music selection. As for FUN TV, the queues just seem rather lifeless now compared to when they'd have the live DJs.

One person's classic hits are another's mediocre crap.

My only concern is that so much of current pop music is entirely disposable. I wouldn't describe it as bad, just entirely forgettable.

I miss the dreamy muzak they used play on the midway circa 75-85!

Mixed feelings on midway music. The new music mix for Dodgems is awesome. Not much goes better with a head on collisions than "Ballroom Blitz".

I haven't been to CP since FunTV was installed there, but I'm not a fan of it at ValleyFair. I don't like having things that I don't want to consume forced on me and the "celeb gossip" crap they play on it is downright annoying. Also, I've found speaker placement/volume levels to be terrible in some spots (blaring loud speakers right next to a queue line... come on.)

At least bring back the Beach Boys at Soak City.

They should play Beach Boys on the beach.

I think the music mix at Wildwater Kingdom is definitely better than Soak City especially when they play all the goodbye themed music at closing time.

They used too.

I miss I Get Around by the Beach Boys being played at Soak City. It always put me in a good mood.

I have mixed feelings ob music...

First, I am glad they got rid of beach boys at soak city, the way they used to play it annoyed me. they played segments of songs and not the full songs!

I like the modern music playing at rides and in midways, but not the celeb gossip crap. I wish they would keep only songs and music vids. Who cares if lady gaga is wearing ballet flats to walmart and if Angelina wants to have another kid. really.

I do miss the old west music like "rawhide" playing at maverick and the 80s favorites at magnum however.

I do not miss loveshack. That song gives me a headache.

Wow! MF and TTD anyone? How about Mantis, Raptor, and Maggie? Just saying, CP has long been a thrill (and records) leader. For better and worse.

I don't so much care what music is played, just so long as the volume levels are kept in check. I can't bear crappy outdoor speakers SCREAMING in my ears.

I was referring more to the fact over the past 5-10 years they have taken more of the "family friendly" rides or attractions out to make it even more thrill focused...well aware that MF and TTD exist and are the staple of the park and are in fact extreme thrill rides lol I probably should have been more specific though, my bad

Couldn't agree more, if I wanted to read celeb gossip or other such nonsense, there are a million websites for that garbage.

It was refreshing to see some of the interesting music choices over Halloweekends. As Jeff mentioned above, most of the current music is very forgettable and disposable. It would be nice if they threw in more old throwback music from the 2000's rap/r&b on down through classic 50s rock. A who's who of hits more or less. I also enjoy the bluegrass covers they play on occasion in the frontier trail area.

Maybe they will get the volume adjusted on the speakers by that little bridge over by the dragster midway. Those things were loud all season.

Four Seasons, Dion, Beatles. Anything like that would brighten my day. Think of classic car or boat show kind of music.
