Mean Streak?

I am very excited about Screamscape's report. If any of the higher-ups are reading this, and this is true, you can be sure that you've probably made my CP dreams come true.

Take this for a grain of salt or not but I did see a post on another site where a crew member supposably reported that the crew will be reported to new sites after July.

Grains of salt seems to be a theme here.

I am also one who trusts Screamscape so I'm hoping this is true. I've always thought that RMC coasters looked really intense.

Also, am I the only one who misses full length Point Casts?

As in the Mean Streak operators will be moved to new rides after July?

Screamscape has been spot on before on many things, so I have faith. Props to the highers-ups if this turns out to be true, an RMC at cedar point would be absolutely fantastic. Much better than another B&M ;)

Why not?

Most RMC stuff reminds me of things I remember from NoLimits in the early-mid 2000s, and I didn't like those rides. There was a lot of stuff out there that seemed popular at the time that never appealed to me.

I also realize that I don't care much for rides that "do too much" (like Maverick) but instead focus on doing something very well (speed-MF, airtime-Magnum, inversions-raptor, etc). This is probably why I rate Fury much lower than many other people. It's good, but seems like it can't decide between speed and airtime. I don't like that.

If RMC can turn MS into a massive speed machine, great, I would probably enjoy it. But if they try to mix airtime and inversions, it will undoubtedly fall into the gap between very good and very average rides on my list.

I don't want inversions either. I'd rather they go the route of New Texas Giant and Lightning Rod.

I love coasters that specialize as well but I also love coasters that do it all. I have yet to ride an RMC but they look like a good mix of speed, airtime, and inversions. Cedar Point doesn't really have a coaster that does it all. Even Maverick focuses on quick transitions. Sure there is an inversion here or there but that adds to the unpredictability of the ride. If RMC is indeed where the park is going then I would like to see as many elements as possible packed into MS's massive layout. Then maybe the B&M haters and the people complaining about the recent park additions not being extreme enough can stop their bitching.

Sooo, why did you base your username off of a ride you don't care about?

I won't say that's exactly true. Because the DT upgrade really wasn't an upgrade, at least looking at it 20 years later :P

However, I also hope history doesn't repeat itself as that means we get a rough woodie in 2018 haha

So you are saying you were too young to see the freshly created Disaster Transport? It was an AMAZING transformation, and brought Cedar Point into out of the 60's and 70's mindset of 'who needs theming?' into a semblance of Disney-like interactive entertainment. Everything about it was fresh, new, and interestingly themed. The ride they tore down to put in Gatekeeper was a pale shadow of the original attraction.

I didn't get to see it until maybe '96-'97 honestly, so it had aged some. I don't have many memories with it however. I remember the building and walking up to it kinda intimidated, but that was it. It still means we also get a rough woodie in 2018 :P

I was thinking if they would just paint the track brown so it doesnt stand out. To kind of blend in with the wood. Thats of course if this even happens. But ill be extremely happy regardless of what color it is. Been wanting this for a while. I Hope it happens!

Because I've been using this name online since 98 or 99. I didn't think I should change because the park built a ride with that name.

Besides, I still enjoy the ride, it's just not as high on my list.

I would like to see a yellow color on Mean Streak RMC. It would be a nice compliment to the yellow pine it is built on.

My theory on the bright colored RMC track for the remodels is they want the new layout to really stand out, so it's easy to see that this isn't your daddy's Mean Streak (or Texas Giant or Roar or whatever)...

I think the only track color that isn't being used at CP is purple? That would look really tacky. It works for Joker only because well, it's the Joker.

ROUNDABOUND.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was indeed Yellow track, since it would blend in well with the structure and area, and Cedar Point seems to prefer bright colors on their coasters. Personally, I would choose a dark Forest Green color, which I think would blend well with that area, and provide a kind of Green/Brown wooded motif! It would also be unique, as that hasn't been done by RMC on an Iron Horse project yet. Of course, this is Cedar Point we're talking about here, so obviously, the tracks will be painted some shade of Orange! ;)

Regarding the early days of Disaster Transport, I too, remember it in its original glory, and it was a very impressive attraction for Cedar Point at the time! However, it didn't last very long at all, and by the time I was an adult and making regular yearly trips to The Point, it had become a dank shell of its former shelf. (Of course, I still preferred it as Avalanche Run, to any version of DT, but oh well...)
