Cedar Point Shores

It is also extremely rare to see a public park with a merry-go-round these days. When I was kid every park had them. I don't think my kids have ever been on one. :(

Regarding the accident, I send my prayers. What is not clear to me is did the cloverleaf raft flip over ejecting everyone or did the woman fall off the raft? I was just one the one at KI today and certainly felt if I let go with even one hand I might have fallen off. I routinely flip over on regular tube slides and go half way down on my back.

Water slides in my opinion are much more of a physical activity than riding coasters or other rides in the park. You need a certain amount (although small) of physical ability to go down a slide. Kind of like skiing, though skiing is on a much higher skill and danger level, sometimes things go wrong. We don't stop skiing just because of an injury, hopefully the Tornado slide won't stay closed long.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Regarding the accident at KD; I'm sending my prayers as well. I hope that she has a full & quick recovery.

Some people do. Sonny Bono, for example.

Too soon?

Nope. I think the remaining Bonos have all moved along to other things.

Who here has tried any of the new food offerings at CP shores? I'm heading up there today and was wondering how the new food places are. I have the all season dining plan.

Crystal Rock Cafe offers some of the better "in park" food options including beef brisket sandwich, half rotisserie chicken, pulled pork sandwich, etc. It's not gourmet, but it is a good step above most of the other in park offerings. It's nice that you can get more than one entree type in one spot and the place is set up for decent capacity.

A little advice if you're going to crystal rock.....if you get the pulled pork sandwich, they will serve you plain pork with a lot of water from the tray tub. If you don't want your sandwich to be a soggy mess, especially the bun, ask them to DRAIN the meat. Mac 'n cheese was ok. Haven't tried the other options yet. The food at the stand across from the new slide complex has good food.

I am heading there Sunday through Friday and was wondering how the water temp is at CP Shores? My wife and I are sort of water snobs and hate cold water.

Thank you.

The water temp was great when we were there July 13-21. Very clear water with no chemical smell.

It's heated to varying temperatures. The warmest are on the new slides, coldest on power surge.

We were there this past week and Muffleheads was open, but the bar was closed. The only employee in there was the poor lifeguard who looked so bored haha. I mean it really wasn't a big deal, but it's kind of annoying when you gotta go and buy your drink from Schooners and walk it over to Muffleheads to enjoy a drink in the water. Especially when you're expecting to have the swim up experience. So we just hung out at the shore of the wave pool and that was just as good. They said it was due to lack of attendance, but if you were to ask me, the park is super under staffed this year.

I understand what you're saying, but it seems like a really odd position not fill. I mean, do you staff the Lemonade stand (which has had 3-4 internationals behind it every time we've been there, not being able to operate a shaker) or the bar which makes $9-12 per drink as fast as they can make them (mind you, they've been as slow as can be Bartending this year... I mean slowwwwwwwww).

A food tip at Shores: If you order cheese fries at Dockside Grill, prepare to have your fries drenched in cheese. I for one love cheesey fries, so I was in cheese fry heaven, but if you like a normal amount of cheese, tell them to just give you a little.

I'm sitting at Muffleheads right now and they have 2 bartenders working. With Schooners open, it has definitely taken some of the crowds away from the swim up bar. There are probably 5-6 open seats at the bar and I remember the days you had to fight you way to the bar to just try and get a beverage.

I'm still disappointed they took the hot tub away.

At first I thought the hot tub removal was a bad idea. However, after being there multiple times I don't miss it at all. When going to the hot tub or through the walkway, there would sometimes be 'awkward' situations due to the secludedness of it. I really like the openness of the area without the sign and feel it brings more traffic to the dry side of the bar with the nice layout of tables near the beach. Weighing the pros and cons, I think it helps more than it detracts given the easier traffic flow through to the beach side of the bar and there seems to be more people utilizing that area now.
