2016? Who Cares! It's All About 2017 to 2030!

Is banning really effective? Could you create a new profile at KIC?

Yes, but they can still track you down through your IP address. And that's happened. Turns out jackasses tend to remain the same no matter what name they choose to use that day.

^You realize how ineffective IP banning really is right? Use any cell phone and you could have any crazy IP address anywhere. Plus, disconnect your home modem for about 10 minutes, it's generally not going to be static and you'll usually get something reassigned. They'd need to block everything in a certain octet range, but that could block other users out as well depending on which one you filter out.

No, why would I realize that?

And hey, quit giving the jackasses what they need to know.

Eh it's nothing that somewhere else on the internet wouldn't be able to explain to someone.

Where there's a will, there's a way ya know?

You don't need to use IP bans though. You ban User_A and take note of the IP address he was using (or just keep the logs). When User_B shows up spouting the same or similar BS and the IP is from the same subnet, he gets banned pretty quickly. And, you can use IP GeoLocation services to see if User_C is from the same town, but using Verizon instead of the Time Warner IPs User_A and User_B were using. And when they start spouting the same BS, the leash only gets shorter and shorter each time until they figure it out.

Now that may stop most, but not all...For instance my IP address sprouts up as Chicago, IL right now even though I'm in southern Ohio at the moment. There's also proxy and VPNs as well...Where there's a will, there's a way, always is lol

Which strikes me as quite sufficient.

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

Not to rush time or anything, but could anyone imagine a new GCI wooden roller coaster with the addition of Mystic Timbers down at Kings Island? Since Mystic Timbers was added at Kings Island, it's been a huge success for them. Any ideas where you could squeeze one in? I know part of the area that used to be Shoot the rapids could be used. Also there is rumors floating around that Dinos are leaving in a year or two so that frees up some room.

Well Shawn it would be kind of hard to break any records with a woodie at CP but I guess they could come up with something. They seem to do well for themselves as the Steel Mecca.

MT is fun and all but as steel advances I get less and less enamoured with wood and I am sure the parks even less so with the maintence costs.

Cedar Point needs a wood family coaster. The other parks have them.

Cargo Shorts's avatar

No disagreement that CP needs family coasters as well but why does it have to be wood?

Wood coasters provide a vastly different experience than steel. And it’s an experience that Cedar Point is lacking in. As long as a wood coaster is kept in decent condition as most GCI’s are, it will be popular even with all the steel CP already has and regardless of wether it even breaks a single record. I don’t think the category is going away anytime soon.

2018- Raptor

CP Top 5- 1)MF 2) Maverick 3) Gatekeeper 4) Top Thrill Dragster 5) Raptor

And, yet, most parks are "RMCing" their wood coasters.

Maverick since '99

Now im fully on board with family rides and family coasters, but how much more family does it get with some of the coasters they have now? I see kids on blue streak that look like they're out of kimdergarden. Blue streak, iron dragon, mine ride, cork screw, wilderness run, woodstock ex, all loaded with the little ones. I dont agree they need more, but a new modern one that replaces something older may be good.

First ride; Magnum 1994

Well, considering all those rides except Woodstock express have the same height requirement as Millennium Force and Steel Vengeance, They're not exactly the most "family" of rides.

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

Everyone complains now about traffic leaving the parking lots, people will loose their minds with dealing with parking garage traffic. lmao. has it ever got to the point Cedar Point has run out of parking spaces on a given day?

Sparty42's avatar

Where exactly are ya going with that, Paul? I'm not entirely sure that has anything to do with getting a new wooden coaster...

But yeah, parking garages can definitely get congested. So, you're right! (?)

Actually, yes, CP has run out of parking spaces but it is a very, very rare event.
