Steel Vengeance

Typical over dramatizing. A little bump that everyone starts calling an "accident". The ambulance is probably just standard procedure and they have it on standby in case they would need it.

Considering these rides are designed precisely NOT to do such things, I think that term is appropriate.

Gemini 100 (6/11/01)

Along with the blue train for Twisted Timbers, these new generation RMC trains are off to a tough start.

Usually I think of an accident as people getting hurt. I think a malfunction is a better word here. But once the news stations catch wind of this, they're going to make it sound like something horrible happened.

Fine. Collision is an accurate term. But who cares it’s really bad that it could even happen, accidentally.

There must have been a major programming error somewhere if two trains ended up in the same block without an automatic shutdown activated. I am VERY curious.

Today marks my 20th cedar point opening day, and this is the worst I have ever seen it. Rides were not ready at 9 am. 5+ hours for steel vengeance that ended up missing the brake run. The worst opening day ever. Not up to cedar fair standards at all

Someone told one of our group that there were multiple people on stretchers. Again, I didn't physically see them, but that's what we were told.

It's really unfortunate, and I obviously hope everyone is safe. But it's definitely not a banner start to opening day.

Although this was a minor collision, I'm predicting that the ride will not reopen this weekend and will probably have to go through an investigation. But I think it will be open again next weekend. And why all the sudden are problems happening now? It seemed to be flawless on media day and at the first rider event and now at the preview events and today, all kinds of problems are happening.

Twitter and Facebook is starting to get really interesting. A lot of pissed off people. It's not going to be a nice day in guest services.

I agree with the post above that they'll probably get some dubious/overreaction media coverage for this. Bad day for the park, that sucks. I loved the first rider benefit, it was so awesome... But i really have no desire to ever do opening weekend. I've been following them on pointbuzz for several years and Saturday seems to always have half the big attractions down or more. My first trip is traditionally for the 5k/10k weekend in June. Hopefully Steel Vengeance is 100% by then.

Platform Twitter Report:

Moments ago, 2 of #CedarPoint’s #SteelVengeance trains collided in the statin as we were waiting to board. 😬

They dispatched a train from the station & it was rolling forward when the one coming in appeared to have blown the breake run and rear-ended it. No one seemed injured.

Thabto, only one train was running on media day.

We went for Early Entry this morning, entered near the water park and joined the stampede. We still waited just over an hour and when we got off the line was already 4 hours. And yes they were only using 2 trains at that time which really surprised me.

It must just have been a bump because of the tire drive, but at least no one can bash Intamin for this one! 😀

If Trump gets to blame all of his mistakes on Obama, maybe RMC gets to blame Intamin for this.

Here is a little bit of a news story on what happened:

The ride was absolutely NOT running flawlessly prior to today. Lots of little issues with the control systems. Fortunately this incident was a minor one.

Let's not forget that cp put all their focus to make sure sv would open today, that they forgot to get the other rides up for opening day. That's what has made me mad. I have never seen this at a CP opening day before. CP was not ready at all to open today.

News story says park spokesperson called it a minor accident.
