Maverick Rollbacks?

It is possible. I seen it the first[?] time we were in line. Not sure why. but after it settled at the bottom, it took off and went through the ride without a hitch. We were on our way up the steps so i didnt have a real good view. but it is possible.

"Ive got the need, the need for speed!"

Here's a video of Mav rolling back intentionally after a day of testing before it ever opened. You can read the video description for more. Not the best angle but it gives you an idea of the speed of a Maverick rollback on the lift hill. I assume it's always that speed:

Here it as part of testing that day May 14, 2007:

I had one rollback on TTD last year after the park had officially closed for the season because it broke down and they kept us on it for 20 minutes. I thought it had enough speed. But all the sudden it stopped at the top and then rolled back. The only way I can describe it, is it starts rolling back slowly, your back presses against the high seatback, it picks up speed, you twist and then it comes to a soft stop. A more interesting ride was the night prior to that when the track was wet, we stopped at the top for a good 5 seconds then went forward. I know that happened when they ran it for a JC ERT a couple years ago in the rain. I wasn't there but it was stopping at the top for what people reported to be about 10 seconds before going forward. I liked that a lot.

On topic I haven't experienced a Mav rollback yet. *** Edited 10/12/2007 4:16:07 AM UTC by HalloWeekends!***

Lift rollbacks happen every couple hours, it's nothing really that special. It's just a creates a big hold up to get the ride reset again.

Rollbacks on the lift happen when the trains are running slow and it reaches the top of the lift before the previous train launches or a ride host catches a loose article or seatbelt being undone and has to stop the ride. Tunnel rollbacks are more rare.

Awww, Craig, you left out everybody's favorite PLC errors: LIFT DRIVE NOT HEALTHY and LAUNCH DRIVE NOT HEALTHY. Could Manuel have been more generic?

Maverick '07 Crew (1, 2, 3, 4, 5...oh no...)
Los Alamos National Lab '04-'07 (LoA to finish Masters Degree)
TTD '03 Crew (76 Launches - 71 Complete Circuits)

Gotta love those Maverick Launch Tunnel Rollbacks. I'd take that over a TTD rollback, as its a bit more rare IMO. I've only heard of 3-4 people who've had one.. yet dozens who have had TTD rollbacks just this season.

Yay for first ever launch tunnel rollback!! :)

Silver Train VIP riders, where are ya??

I was there May 14 and watched it test from my LHP cottage deck. It was great and horrible to see run because it was nice to see it move but torture not to be able to ride.

We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

Just saw Maverick rollback on the lift hill. Never saw that. It seemed like the train on the lift was going up much sooner than I've ever noticed compared to the train launched out of the tunnel for several cycles in a row.

^Sounds like a block violation was prevented by the computer?

Hopefully they keep sending the trains out as early as the system allows though... Maverick rarely duels like it was designed to anymore. I don't work it, so I'm not exactly sure how it works, though.

I saw it happen once a few weeks ago. And last week I noticed Wicked Twister "rolled back" but not in the way it should, it launched slowly out of the station, and came back into the station for a relaunch.

Several more times, today, the train on the lift is dropping before the other trains crosses under the lift...very cool to see that again.

The most common answer to lift hill rollback is they spotted someone with their phone out. They then come out and ask the rider to relieve their phone.

^ Yeah that happened to us last year. I get excited for very little things sometimes, and was pretty pumped about it, hah.

Once during early ride time I experienced four (was it three?) lift hill rollbacks on Maverick. It was kind of fun, but anytime a ride rolls back toward a station I get nervous. Set up time for a re-launch wasn’t bad at all. And on the last attempt they put the ride out of commission and walked us from the lift to the exit.

Zombie thread!

With people on it, or empty? Sounds to me like control power was turned on and the in charge was putting the train in home position in manual. You have to do that every time you turn the ride on. Similar to this?:

There were people on it.
