Top Thrill 2 Announced

Also, can you imagine the outcry had the rear spike been, like, 415' instead of 420'? Enthusiasts would be losing their minds!

Minds will be lost in a future cold winter off-season when it is discovered that the spike has sunk 5' into the lagoon a'la Magnum xl200 years ago.

Sorry, bad prediction as they have just completed Lagoon Maintenance.

The only tricky thing ( I imagine) is the need to have a fairly sophisticated sensor system to maintain the correct train speed through these passes at 100mph or more -- that's unusual, but I imagine Zamperla have farmed all that out in any event.

That's just a standard part of the LSM control system. They use Hall-effect sensors to determine the position and speed of the train in order to precisely adjust the output of the electromagnets.

In regards to my predictions as to what would happen to dragster, I would just like to say, in the words of Chevy Chase - as Fletch

”It takes a big man to admit when he’s wrong. I am NOT a big man.”

Understood. I get that rides like Pantheon and Toutatis have LSM and programming/ sensors to deal with trains entering and maintaining/ accelerating speeds in the 70mph. I'm sure it's scalable to 100 mph+ hour, and perhaps in the world of sensors/ programming the timing differences for an increase from 70mph to 120mph is nothing in terms of sensor / programming, but it simply hasn't been done thus far.

I saw a really nice rendering of the station and entry area posted on the fence at the construction site while watching some young kids video. I have not been able to find any similar renderings online just as a high quality image. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

I don't stalk the webcams very often, but this evening is the first time in awhile I've seen an angle with TT2 back as a primary area of focus.

There's only one picture that shows the station and entry area. It's the same picture as the one at the top of "cedarpoint.com/new-in-2024" but the one on the site has the bottom cut off. My photo was too big to upload here, so I cropped out the relevant part to keep as much detail as I could.

Thanks, that's the pic I was after. I was able to do a nice screen shot from the youtube video but was hoping someone had a link to the full high res picture.

I do think the addition of a support in the rendering at the station is intentional and is in the works. Those lightning trains must be a tad longer than the old ones and in order to have two in the station at a time may necessitate extending the station out. We also already have a permit for additional station construction right?

The merch they added to the online store is beautiful, the hoodie especially. If I hadn't just bought a Cavs hoodie, I would have got this TT2 hoodie.

Ok the name and logo are actually growing on me. The merch is giving me NASCAR/Race car driver Name + Number vibes that I love. Now imagine if they did one of those vintage NASCAR shirts with the car but utilizing a shot of the train

So my thought of vintage NASCAR shirts gave me an idea. How sick would this be as merch:

^Yikes.

To be fair I threw this together in less than 5 minutes lol.

Appreciate your excitement! I’m a big fan of the minimal branding CP has been doing lately. Saw some great shirts at breakers last stay.

Because one hoodie is ENOUGH!!!

When you visit CP, visit my Mill, est. 1835

Damn. That’s cool to see how much the supports fade into the darkness.

The name has grown on me, but if CP has a change of heart, they can leave the paint job as is and name it Firecracker Pop. That’s what I see in the nighttime picture.

Also, I saw an interview with Zamperla and it’s mentioned their engineers began working on TT2 18 months ago. I know the questions been asked how long was this in the works and did the tragedy have anything to do with it.

I hope 18 months is enough time to engineer a reliable coaster of this magnitude.

Closed topic.
