2012 Hopeful - Questions

It's definitely possible for first years to get either TTD or MF. It all depends on which manager reviews your application. You might be able to prefer a ride in the interview, but don't count on it. Also just a heads up: Don't be surprised if you switch rides when you process in, all depends on staffing. You hit the nail right on the head though when you said the crew makes your summer. Hope this helps a little.

Even if you're per say contracted Matterhorn triangle..you can move...Hell most of us that have worked CP can tell you that you work a ton of rides in the park by the end of your time there

Can first year ride hosts get popular rides like TTD or MF? Those would be where I want to work but I'm sure a lot of ride op hopefuls are the same. I know your crew makes your summer but it would be cool to work one of those rides for even a little bit if I were to get shifted to another ride.
Ahh I'm so excited. Can't wait for my interview!!

I was contracted to Millennium Force my first summer. So yes. Generally, first years make up a large percentage of every crew in the park.

We had a 2 girls with us at training at Corkscrew in the beginning of the year but they had to be moved down to sweeps because they were down. So dont give your hopes up if its not the ride you wanted or didnt want. You will be placed anywhere they need you

Adding onto that, you'll also get trained on different rides in your area. For example, my first year (Area 2) I was contracted to Millennium, moved to Mantis, and cross trained on Iron Dragon and Power Tower. Last year (Area 1), I ended up working MOSTLY Raptor, but ended up getting cross trained on Sky Ride and Cads/Cedar Downs.

why does everyone want to work on rides??? foods is where its at! lol

Wagons 2010 F.T.S.
Red Garter 2011

Lol...I guess for some people...Like night trash is for some people too I guess

It would depend where at for foods. If I was put at TGIFridays on the beach or Famous Daves, I wouldn't mind. If I was put at Happy Friar, I WOULD mind.

Rides is so fun. The time goes by so fast and rotation every half hour makes it so it doesn't get too old that quick. Besides, when you work in rides, you have a chance to get cross trained at other rides possibly in different areas. I'm in mechanical engineering too, so learning how a ride is operated kind of interests me. Not to mention, just knowing you're operating a multi million dollar ride is crazy.

I can work food anywhere. It's not everywhere that you get to operate million dollar machinery.

Is there a place to get our hair cut on point?

no. while employees we are not allowed to use the spa at Breakers, unless we have a room, and that would be the only place on-point. But there are plenty of places off-point that the buses go to that have places to get your hair cute.

I don't think you could get a full Cedar Point experience without working on rides. I can't work rides yet but I plan on working them. It looks so much fun working a coaster. The employees always seem to be having fun and everyday is different. Who wouldn't want to work on one of the best coasters in the world?

Anyone know the address for Commons Dorms? Are they on point or in Sandusky?

They're right on the end of the causeway. The only address is 1 Cedar Point Drive. There is an address to send mail, but not one specific to commons.

Yesh...those things over on the left of the causeway before hitting the point, behind the barbed wire, look like a prison...yeah we live there haha...It's a pretty good place, still don't understand the epic amount of barbed wire and whatnot haha

Commons are in Sandusky. Right before you get on the Causeway on your left hand side. The big boxy buildings are the dorms, dark brownish buildings are the apartments. CP also offers on-point housing, Cedars and Golds.

My advise to you...pay the little extra, live in commons, and catch a ride with somebody to work everyday.

Friends don't let friends ride blue thunda.

Commons Dorms in my opinion are the best choice. When it hits 100+ degrees outside, you'll be thankful to come back to air conditioning.
