2017 Platinum Pass Benefits

I don't think prices should increase so I can get a discount I don't plan to use. When I go to 6 Flags, I don't get discounts because I didn't buy the add-on for discounts...that's fine with me...If 6 Flags told me that they were going to raise the price because they were going to offer me discounts on crap I don't need, I might get a little upset. Considering I already bought their much better version of a platinum food pass which includes 2 meals, 1 snack and unlimited drinks at all of their parks for $80, why would I want them to raise the prices of their admission pass to get me a discount on food, drinks or souvenirs? So those who WANT a discount can get their pass cheaper? I don't think so. We're not talking about a necessity that is needed to serve the greater good.

So, correct me if I'm wrong, but was DJ not correct when he said that taking away a benefit without decreasing prices was essentially an increase on the price of the pass?

For example: I've looked at rooms for June 15-18 (3 nights) and a 1 King Bed non-lakeview room is around $750 give or take. Previously, I could get a 10% discount on the rack rate, meaning I would be saving $75 for this weekend.

To me, that's a savings on the pass itself that would have meant I would have needed to go to the park a 3rd time to get the full value. Now, I only need to go 2 times to see the full value of the pass.

Now, I can get to Cedar Point in a little less than 4 hours, depending on who's coming with me. But, if it's just my wife and I, we can get there for a day on the weekend no problem. I couldn't imagine being a passholder and living more than 4 or 5 hours away from any given park, but I'm sure there are quite a few people who are.

Those are the people, I'd argue, that Cedar Point would try to target with a Platinum Pass and a try to get them to stay for a full week at their resort. If that's the case, wouldn't a 10% discount entice them even more to stay at the resort? That's a giant savings for a family.

Again, I could be completely off on this, but it seems logical that there be some sort of discount on lodging.

An increase in the price of the pass only if you were planning on using the 10% discount, doesn't apply to most. Also, if their occupancy is very high now, which it probably is since they discontinued the discount, they have the rooms filled regardless. Better actually since they didn't discount the room 10%.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

The 10% discount on lodging has been greatly scaled back in recent years. It had blackouts on certain days and was only available at certain properties.

Plus it's less of a benefit when you consider non platinum pass holders often get free half day tickets and discounted tickets with each room.

The park also frequently gives 10% discounts to guests who make return visits to the hotels.

I really don't understand all the fretting over the platinum pass perks. The park offers a wide variety of perks to enhance the value of the pass. Not every perk will be important to every guest. The important thing is that each guest is satisfied with the value presented.

I've read that there are some unpublished food perks like bogo sunday specials at Tofts... Can anyone list deals to watch for that aren't listed
Thanks in advance

Not sure if it is published but you can buy a fast lane plus for the price of a regular fast lane wristband.

Also there is a French Fry deal that you buy one with chili and cheese and get a second with a coke for free at the fresh cut fry stands.

The fast lane plus thing for the price of a fast lane is great. 2 years ago you could buy them on the app that way, just had to enter your platinum pass number. Then last year that was gone and i had to buy them in the park. We bought ours the 3 times we did at "speed zone" outside of Dragster and Power Tower.

CP Coaster Top 10: 1. Steel Vengeance (40 rides to date) 2. Top Thrill Dragster (191 launches to date, 4 rollbacks) 3. Magnum XL 200 4. Millennium Force 5. Maverick 6. Raptor 7. GateKeeper 8. Valravn 9. Rougarou 10. Gemini

The drink has returned to the platinum fries deal?

I'm pretty sure I got a free drink with mine last summer, but I could be remembering it wrong.

At any rate the buy one get one is a good perk even without a free drink.
