Ball coaster? nope. Top Thrill extension/re-fitting.. nope.

There are so many rumors out there... but I honesty think that if we look at the clue "put 2+2 together" and "we're going in a a whole new direction..." the track is going to split, and go in different directions. I forget the name of this style of coaster (i havent played roller coaster tycoon 3 in some time) but the track design itself is triangle, which rules out ball coaster because the ball coaster track is square. a top thrill extention is just a stupid concept, and again the track shape is wrong. This is definitley something new, and I think its going to split... it makes sense to me anyways, I guess time will tell. :) I love how they tease us. good times.

So....so you drew this conclusion from... Roller Coaster Tycoon?

Well, isn't that the design software that Intamin uses? Or do they use Hyper Rails?

Brandon

I like the way you think OhioBoy. Out of the box. Imagine a coaster that can change direction to multiple tracks. Think of a railroad concept where the track can shift to send the train to another destination. I'm not sure what the technical term is but I'm sure you get the idea. You wouldn't know what set of tracks they were sending you on.

I know far fetched but innovative, right?

Well, you're half right.

This is so out of the box, that it needs to be put back in and taped shut.

Nice idea, but the "Splitting Coaster" uses box track. So far we've only seen triangular track.

i believe he's talking about a "switch track" and that's what expedition everest uses at disney's animal kingdom. it allows them to run the train backwards in certain sections of the mountain. its actually a really cool coaster. :)

Well, a switchtrack coaster like Everest would make some sense with the clues they are dropping. Like "..going in a whole new direction!" So I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

OMG GUYS THE PROTOTYPE BALL COASTER HAS SQUARE TRACK SO THIS CANT BE IT BECAUSE IT IS TRIANGLE!!111

Don't forget that Intamin uses different types of track in places where the forces require it. Box track is not always needed, nor is triangle, nor is flat.

Ball Coasters DO always need box track, unless they change the cars.

Expedition Everest was one of the best rides I've ever been on. The coaster itself, with the mountain and the track switch that goes backwards was amazing. Also, the Mummy ride at Universal Studios was quite surprising as well with a track switch. Although neither are made by Intamin, I don't see why IAG, a pioneer in new technology, couldn't come up with a similar design. I don't know, perhaps two coasters, with one station and a track switch that sends you off randomly to one of the tracks? You don't know what ride you'll get? I know not probable at all, but an idea.

Not true at all, the wheels only contact the top two rails. Like any Intamin coaster. This link will show you what I mean

Just a reminder that MF uses all three forms of Intamin track. Four tie boxes, three tie triangle and two tie flat track.

I was thinking that the split track coaster found in RCT3 is Setpoint's version of the 4-D (with a new element). And Jeff is adamant that it's not a Setpoint...

I just want to get this out about the whole "Dragster extension" thing. While I know that's not what the new track is for, I just want to point out that if it were to happen, it would make sense to see that kind of track being used. It doesn't all have to be box track. It could be just like in Millennium's case.

Again, I know that it wont happen. If they wanted a longer layout, they would have done it when they were designing it and would have put a crapload of more money into it.

So I think we can just assume for now that it's an Intamin sit down type of coaster. *** Edited 5/13/2006 4:14:54 AM UTC by TTD 120mph***

-Adam G- The OG Dragster nut

Last time I checked the Ball Coaster only rides on two rails. Not four.

Nevermind, I see someone beat me to it. *** Edited 5/13/2006 5:08:33 AM UTC by Keith 2005***

*sigh*

My guess is a piece of switchtrack that switches to allow trains in the brakes to enter different sides of the station, as seen on S:UF (Georgia) or Kingda Ka. *** Edited 5/13/2006 5:42:24 AM UTC by Grovite18***
