After seeing that map and looking at it through GoogleEarth, so long as they rework the Blue Streak entrance, this could actually be possible. I'll do my best to highlight the ride area(s) later tonight, unless you'd like to do that one as well, Jason.

To me, it wouldn't make much more sense to put calypso in frontier trail.

Another possible place for calypso would be to move it to where the old pirate ride is.

Ride Warrior, I agree with you that this rumor could actually be something. If something BIG was going to be there next year, we would most likely see them start clearing land and such in mid summer.

Do any of you know when they started clearing land back when Maverick came about? If I remember correctly it was around July...?

I still want to know where this rumor came from. The only place I have seen it on is "Screamscape" and now on here. I have not seen it anywhere else. We all know that Screamscape can say some things that are not always true, but I doubt Screamscape makes up its own rumors. So there has to be some place that they heard this from. If we have the source that originally stated this rumor, that would be a great help.

I am still very curious about the markings over by Thunder Canyon and why it is still empty of water. I was looking on Google Earth at that area. It looked like a pretty decent sized piece of land. I don't think Cedar Point would mark off electrical lines (most likely the orange paint) and make other mysterious markings if there wasn't something going on. It very well could just be for the Starlight Experience, but with markings in Thunder Canyon and the ride not being open and not even have any water in it, I would like to think that it is something more that just Starlight.

November 2005... when White Water Landing was removed.

Don't read alot into Thunder Canyon not being filled with water, the ride is drained every night and refilled every morning when it operates.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

I have a feeling there will be another Coaster, because Six Flags are tied with Cedar Point with Coasters.

Not true. Six Flags just got number 18. They are one ahead.

Two of those 18 are still under construction. Until they open, the park has 16.

...and on any given day, 3 of those 16 are closed... ;)

I think the coaster race is over...

Cedar Point has realized that they need more than roller coasters to keep the crowds coming.

If that was their plan, I doubt they would have spent the money on building a new 3-point challenge there.

They will make alot more money than it cost to put up a 3 point shoot out, for a temporary fill of a spot that would look like crap if they left empty. Just throwing a possibility out there. Hell, Kinzel probably went to meijer on senior citizen discount day and bought the basketball hoop for 15% off.

I thought Cedar Point still is saying Superman is not a coaster.

I really wouldn't like to see a coaster crammed into the Turnpike Cars area. The park needs more diversity in types of rides and with this year's ride being a thrill ride, if a ride is planned for 2012 it would make sense to be more of a family attraction. If they must get rid of the Turnpike Cars I think one of those water battle type rides would be a great fit in that area.

They are still saying that, but Six Flags is probably brushing Cedar Point off. For the record, it is still considered a roller coaster.

Hey, I forgot, what's the governing body that determines whether or not something is a coaster? Has Cedar Point considered appealing the ruling by them that Superman is a coaster? Remember, justice delayed is justice denied...

The path you tread is narrow, and the drop is sheer and very high.

Pete, I have to agree with you. They sorely need more real family attractions, not to mention a dark ride or two -- although I'm not sure if that would be the ideal spot for a water battle ride. It's been their apparent, decades-long M.O. to keep water rides sequestered in Frontier Trail/Town.

I'm gonna go out on a limb, and I don't think a lot of people will like this: with the possible exception of a GCI woodie someday, I don't think the park needs another coaster. Period. Maybe ever.

Sure, at some point this or that coaster may reach its maintenance expiration point (Iron Dragon, the ghost of Big Bad Wolf is calling for you). And I could see them eventually replacing a coaster or two.

But as far as expanding on their current retinue, it's just not necessary, and I'm not convinced the ROI would support it.

Pete has Thunder Canyon opened yet for the season? Just curious? Also I was curious what you meant by having a water battle type ride to replace the turnpike cars?

Ensign Smith, I also wanted to comment and say that I hope another roller coaster does come to Cedar Point. Granted, we are already spoiled by having 17 roller coasters, which is the most at the moment, but wouldn't it be nice to have another roller coaster? A lot of people are wishing for a G.G. wooden roller coaster which would be really cool to see here at Cedar Point. Where would they put it? I don't know.

Plus how many times have they said they're "comfortable with their lineup"? I'm fine with what we have. Having said that, if this rumor has any merit, my guess is some kind of extensive family attraction/area.

Though 2 nice new coasters COULD replace Mean Streak in the future. ;)
