Cedar Point's 2011 ride will target thrill seekers

It just feels weird. They look the same. Well, I guess not many will remember what FC looked like at this point. How many years has it been now?

The Bad Day at Kings Island was June 9, 1991.

I left a nice comment on the Kings Island facebook for all the complainers over there. My favorite comment was someone saying they wish Kings Island would have added a coaster like Diamondback....ummmm didnt you in fact just get Diamondback a year or so ago? lol

Well it will have a lighting package...that's a good thing...

Oh and we have a 48" tall height requirement at the moment.

None of the others is offering the lighting package so is this supposed to make C.P.'s version that much better? I was hoping for 400+ tall tower.
Anyone else notice the opening dates? KBF and CW said summer of 2011 vs. opening date of 2011. Where C.P. didn't say and KI said opening day of 2011. Do I hear delays with this thing opening?

The latter two parks do not operate year round, and I believe the other two do. As such, KBF & CW have no "opening day".

Nice addition to the parks, cheap, looks like it will have almost a zero mantinance budget. Hopefully it will bring people back to that part of the park. But what really bothers me is the total lack of creativity, same colors and a generic names. Its one thing that its named after the same thing at Knotts and Canada but the Kings Island and Cedar Point should be a little different atleast in color scheme and name.

Agreed.........thanks for saying that. What ever happened to variety of the same ride?

The height is probably the main thing that makes it better with higher winds. ;)

...the last two hype campaigns have ended with announcements of fairly tame family-style rides...
I am a little of surprised by that.

CP, or any other park or business for that matter, will always do whatever they can to get potential guests' attention. Yes, that includes "hyping" family rides. That's the entire point of marketing, isn't it?

Yes but the vast majority of CP visitors do not pay attention to pre-announcement hype. Most will probably learn via the news or advertisements. Aside from that the ride should sell itself, the hype leading up to the ride should not. So in the end, what is the point to the long, drawn-out hype campaigns the past two years? Why not just announce a the new ride on a set date? Furthermore, I understand the appeal of announcing now to help sell seasn passes, but since the majority of visitors do not hold such a pass, why not wait until season's end. Does announcing now give people who have yet to visit this year a reason to simply wait until next year?

Before anyone hates on my questions, note that they are simply questions. I am seeking feedback, not arguments as to why my thoughts are moronic.

ya it can wait till the end of the season and announce the new attractions i mean i probably will not ride the new ride as i am not a fan of spinning in the air

I have a question then. What is the "Stratosoar" name then. None of them were named that. So what is it for?

I've said this before, Whyte Lightning had a web page and when shoot the rapids was announced it redirected you to Shoot the Rapid's page on CedarPoint.com. I'm pretty sure Whyte Lightning is done.

That doesn't make any sense what so ever.

As I said, marketing. That's the point. As a business, getting attention is desirable. They got a bunch of new Facebook followers, for example. It costs almost nothing to communicate with those fans, so their marketing ROI increases (presumably).

Has there been any word on the Beach Entrance?

From the video it appears that WindSeeker will be located on the site of the current Beach Entrance. I wonder if a new Beach Entrance will be constructed closer to Ocean Motion/Coral Garden sites.

TopThrillCedarPoint, I was using that as a example related to the, What will happen to the Stratosoar name, question. The point was that maybe Stratosoar is nothing, just like whyte lightning.
