Do I hear delays with this thing opening?

How can there be a delay if they don't announce a opening date? It may not open with the park. But, that won't mean it's been delayed. If they plan on it opening Memorial Day weekend, and it opens Memorial Day weekend, then it was not delayed.

I wonder if a new Beach Entrance will be constructed closer to Ocean Motion/Coral Garden sites.

I mentioned that as a possibility a month or so ago. I'm not digging through the threads to find it. But, my guess is that it will be shifted North and be immediately adjacent to the Coral Courtyard.

I wonder if the gate would be repositioned to better serve the large influx of guests in and out whenever a major catering event occurs.

"Thank the Phoenicians!"

whats new for 2012?

I measured it the best I could on Bing maps and I think the ride can fit in the Ocean Motion space. No changes to beach entrance necessary. Except Ocean Motion doesn't really need any queue line space and this ride will, so they might need to make some changes because of that.

DJ, I'm not doubting you but does Canada's Wonderland really stay open all year? Its in Canada, you would think they would close. Or did I read your post wrong?

Looking at the video, where it angles down toward the center, it looks to me like the tower will be almost right on top of where the gate is now. The building for the jet ski rentals is also gone in the video. I would look for the beach entrance to be in a new location next summer.

Canada's Wonderland is closed from the beginning of November through the end of March. The only Park (that I am aware of) that has a year round operation would be Knott's Berry Farm.

Thanks. Does Cedar Fair still operate that thing in Vegas? I bet if that still is open/running its open all year.

Let's Get Weird.

this ride to me is a over the top power tower with swings or a over sized traveling carnival ride. this ride is going to be the worst investment in cedar fair history. they are going down as Americas's Roller Coast and Becoming Americas Swinging coast. Mark my words cedar point will never be the same as it was in the 90's. with rollercoaster Six flags new CEO know what people want and he is more. then willing to put in rollercoaster even after coming out of bankruptcy they have all planned for next year and cheaper prices then cedar point.

If i am wrong tell me

i never knew they operate a ride in vegas

CF applied for a tm for the name "Stratosoar". I found a copy of the app somewhere on-line (can't remember, been reading on so many other sites) and according to that there was going to be clothing, hats, water bottles, misc souveniers with the name on them. It has to be for something else in the future. One of you regulars on here mentioned this before: they plan things 5 years in advance.

Someone on the CP fb page questioned the whole stratosoar name and someone else called that guy an idiot b/c he said stratosaur is the windseeker, which we all know isn't true.

To the best of our knowledge, here is my guess at what happened...

CF was negotiating with Funtime to build a 400+ foot Starflyer ride named Stratosoar. They also wanted 3 other Starflyers for other parks. However, the deal fell through.

Instead, CF went with the WindSeeker model by Mondial. For whatever reason, a 400+ foot version was not practical, so CP and all other parks got 300 foot versions. Since it was no longer above 400 feet, or for other unknown reasons, they decided to go with the name WindSeeker for all 4.

I base this on the fact that Funtime mentions 400 feet being in the discussion in their allegations and the fact that Stratosoar was registered in July and not earlier. Many of these decisions seem like they were made very recently.

Star Trek: The Experience closed in late 2008. I think it was located at the Las Vegas Hilton. Some mall in the Las Vegas area was going to negotiate with CBS and reopen the attraction. It was supposed to open with the new Star Trek movie in 2009. I guess it never happened.

I was referring to Carowinds (which, it turns out, isn't open all year, either... duh). CF really should start taking into consideration our abbreviation style when naming parks & attractions. :)

Brandon

Is a 400 ft chain swing practical, even in a non-windy location? I'm now wondering if Funtime dropped the 400 ft number just to make Mondial's 300 ft ride seem disappointing. Remember, Funtime didn't have any trouble spoiling Cedar Point's reveal. I wouldn't rule out other shenanigans.

Hey, I heard a rumor that Top Thrill Dragster is sinking...

There is one that is nearly 400' in Orlando. I think it's the tallest one out there right now.

It would seem that moving the gate towards the Coral Courtyard is a real posibility. The current artwork for WindSeeker does not show the gate or even the fence. It could still be in the design stage and they felt there was no need to put anything on the rendering at this time.

I wonder if they will still have the parisail for next next in a different location.

Just an observation Wave Swinger, WindSeeker, similar concept, both WS. Just a coincidence. We'll have to be carefull with our abbreviations.

I have a thought, maybe Cedar Fair wanted a signature ride to solidify their ownership of CP, KI, CW, and KBF. Saying that if you see a Windseeker in this color scheme, you're in a Cedar Fair Park

I would think all the trash cans would give it away.... ;)
