Change of Ride from the contract

Hi, me and my friend were assigned to the MILLENIUM FORCE for the summer. We both sent in our contracts, signed, and completely filled out with the MF cleary stated from Toby P. I was just curious if I would get switched at all if I didnt' wnat to be? It's one of the reasons I accepted the job. I start on May 11th. Is it likely to get switched if it is unwanted? thanks!
Well, I'll be on MF too. The past 3 seasons, I know that the ride you were contracted for will be the location you will be at. Unless out of a freak of nature, like if the ride is picked up by a giant lizard and thrown into space, you'll likely be on MF. My first season, back in 98, I was contracted originally for Monster, I showed up to Monster, and a few hours later that day, they made an offer for me to work at Power Tower, I could have stayed on Monster if I wanted, but I was excited that I was offered the new ride of the year, and I would get more hours on PT, so obviously I took POwer Tower over Monster. But generally they won't move you without offering you a chance to stay at your contracted location. They will however move you if you get too many guest complaints, or if you constantly screw up the operations of the ride. There was one guy in 98, that lasted only a day at Tower because of guest complaints. And one guy that lasted a week on Gemini last year cause he couldn't stop a train correctly.
PTC98JB, are you one of the blue tags? I was told orginally that Kelly M. ws going to be the TL but she got moved to Zone 3 Sup., and Michael W. got moved to Zone 1 Sup., along with Sean. Does anyone know who the blue tags on the force will be, I also heard that Matt B. might be one of them. I also heard that Richie A., is coming back to work on the Force this year as well.

dan are u working on MF too??
also, PTC98JC - how is it working a ride like a rollercoaster? Is it hard to learn, or is it pretty easy? I'm kinda scared after hearing that someone couldnt' stop the cars right so he was moved. Is it really that hard? Also, i heard that if you work ride, u are rotated to what specific thing u do.. is this true. Like sometimes u might be checking seatbelts, working the line and other times u might be operating. i am just wondering because i have no idea what to expect this summer. (it's my first, can u tell?lol) thanks
Sorry I play in the park and not work in the park, then again....

Dan, I believe Jason B. (TL of Blue Streak last year) and Matt B. (ATL of Raptor last year) will be TL and ATL of Millennium Force as of right now. And yup KM (Mean Streak TL last year) will be Zone 3 Asst. Sup.

No, Dan, I'm just a member of the crew whose been at the Point a while and is "in the know" through experience and through being Akron's Campus Ambassador.
To SOCCER05, don't worry, working a roller coaster, especially new ones should be pretty easy. You have to pass a written visual board test - its even easier than taking a written driver's test. But controling a ride is totally different. On Gemini everything was done manually, you had to close the brakes at the right time to stop the train correctly. The guy that (ummhmmm, overshot an entire train), was pretty dumb. Its harder to screw up that bad than it is to run the ride correctly. MF will probably be similar to Mantis controls, newer kind of controls, so I've no idea what its like yet. But all you had to do to control Power Tower (another computer powered ride) was just push one button and the ride did the rest, on Gemini you actually had to work at running the ride a bit.
The only part that might be scary about MF is your ride orientation where, if its like any other coaster, would have to walk the entire way up the lift on the stairs, and yes it does have stairs people. I was a tiny bit scared when I walked up Gemini's lift for the first time, but you really get used to it. YOur legs will shake a bit for your first time. And when you reach the top it feels like you just climbed a tall mountain, a really cool feeling, and spectacular view at that! Thats one of those great feelings guests don't get to experience - walking on the coasters!! That unless the power goes out in the park and we have to walk them down the lift, then you just pray some guest doesn't act childish and hurt someone or themselves. But don't let that intimidate you, its really quite simple.
Working a coaster eventually becomes like clock-work, you just keep going, and everything really becomes routine, I would see no reason MF would be different from other rides in that aspect. Yes, you rotate from???????? ?? ???????? ?????? ??? ????? ?? ????? ?? ????? ??? ????? ??? ?????? ??? ?? ???? ??????????? ?? ??? ? ???? ???? ??? ????? ?? ?? ????????? ???? ???? ???? ????????? ???? ????????? ???? ????? ???? ????? ?????? ??? ?????? ??? ???? ???? ?? ????????? ??? ??? ??? ???? ?? ????? ???? ???? ????? ??? ? ?????? ????????? ?? ??????? ? ???????? ????????? ????????? ????????? ??? ????? ??????? ? ??????? ??? ????? ????? ?????? ??? ??? ???? ?? ??????????????????????????? ?????????? ??? ???????????
Oh, yeah, for anyone that sees this, and is interested to know who is working where. This is the link to Jason Higbie's site where everyone submits where they'll be in 2K, it is in no way endorsed by Cedar Point or Cedar Fair, it is strictly submissions made by

people.http://www.geocities.com/CollegePark/Union/9487/cpstaff/assign2000.html

Wow, are the positions really called "Controls", "Entrance," and "Platform"? That's hideous!

We do call the people who visit "guests," right? Not "humans"? :P

(For the record, more "normal" names for these things are Dispatch (or Secondary Dispatch), Guest Greet, and Loader (or Unloader).

To some extent, I'm only teasing. But I'm really gonna have a hard time adjusting to those! :P

Millennium Force does NOT have stairs. It has a small escape vehicle that travels up an adjacent track from the ground to the start of the arc.

Hmmm.... interesting, it looked like stairs on the Topping Off video on the CP site, but thats OK if its an escape route. And yes the BASIC names for the positions are Entrance, Crowd Control, Controls, and Platform. Most time is spent at platform. Thats BASICALLY what they are called. Sometimes they might be called "Unload 3", or something similar - meaning Unload Car 3. But we'll see when it arrives. But Controls will always be Controls, and Entrance will always be entrance guaranteed.

You guys must have an extra person or two to monitor the unload platform as well. It's a looooong stretch from the booth to the end of the unload platform. Enough room for two trains (nine cars each) and the transfer track (about 15 feet or so) in between.

Mf does not have stairs.. and employees will not be going up to the trains....Thanks Jeff, for setting it straight. You are obviously "in the know"more than others seem to think "they" are.

Hey One Hundred Yellow.. I just caught the comment you made about "normal" names for controls, crowd control, platform and entrance... NORMAL to who? Yours sound pretty strange to me... Yours are no more "normal" or right than ours....To a CP coaster employee " Dispatch" is simply the act of sending the train out of the station. There is far more to controls than dispatching. "Guest Greet" is something every employee should do in every position.. "Loader" would be just assisting the guests into the train. "Platform" positions are responsible assisting guests with lapbars/seatbelts.. helping guests who come up the exit ramp with questions, helping guests who are on the load side of the platform, and going up the lift and to safety breaks when necessary. "For the record" I have never heard anywhere or read anywhere that there were normal or non normal names for these positions. Sorry.. but I guess you hit a nerver with the "Normal" comment.

Jenn. First of all, I actually said "more normal," but your point is well taken. I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone! And nowhere did I say that CP's names for these things were "wrong." They just struck me as...well, rather plain. And, yes, they are not what I am used to. They are (obviously) what you're used to, and so they sound perfectly fine to you.

As an illustration--and please don't take this the wrong way--but to you, "Loader" sounds like someone who just helps people into the train. Whereas to me, "Platform" sounds like someone who just stands around on the platform doing nothing! (And for all those ready to pounce on me for that: remember, I'm just talking about the names here, and what they may or may not imply *to me.* I know that the people on Platform work very hard. I've done it--just under a different title.)

On a more personal level: I admire your pride, but...um...they're just names. Is my "criticism" of them really that big of a deal?

As for myself, I always think that a big, friendly "in my opinion" is implied. But I'm new around here, so I guess I should have been more careful. Sorry.
Well, I must admit platform does sound a bit funny... and I tend to get up on mine just like it was a soap box ( anyone who knows me knows the BOTP nickname... @%*! on the platform:) No offense taken and none given I hope. Yes.. I take great pride in Cedar Point. But, along with learning to be politically correct I must also learn not to be so ethnocentric ( even if my way really is the best way :) )
