CoasterMania summary

June 1st was a warm-up day at Six Flags Ohio. Look elsewhere for a trip report on that, although I WILL say it was a worthwhile 3 hour stop on the way from Pittsburgh to Sandusky :)

Ok, CoasterMania. I've already been to the Point earlier this year (last week, 2 days), so I only spent one day at the Point this trip. And what a day it was.

Summary:

Raptor: 8
Magnum: 3
MF: 2
Corkscrew, Iron Dragon, Wildcat, Mantis, Mean Streak, Blue Streak, Gemini, Disaster Transport, Mine Ride: 1 each

Flat rides: Troika, Chaos, Power Tower (shot up)

I arrived at the point at 6:45, and my jaw dropped when I saw the long line snaking out to buy tickets. "Oh geeze" (edited version ;) ) went through my head.

Then a dude came by yelling "Season passholders who do not need to buy tickets, over here" I wish I remembered this savior's name :)

My strategy for the morning ERT was to NOT hit MF first, since I figured that's what EVERYONE would be doing. Good call. I rode Raptor 8 times in the first hour (once each row ;) ), then decided it was time to hit MF. That was somewhat over an hour -- by the time I was off, the general public was lining up. (I heard that people who went STRAIGHT to MF had a fairly short wait, before it built up, but I was going for a lot of rides. :) )

At this point, I headed to the back, following the general strategy of "work the park from back to front to avoid the crowds".

By 1, I'd ridden Wild Cat, Mean Streak, Mine Ride, Gemini, Magnum, Corkscrew, and Power Tower. I headed up towards the front to meet up with the GTTP group, ducking into the main arcade for a few to kill some time and get out of the sun (I'm on tetracycline, which GREATLY increases your sensitivity to the sun, to the point where I was wearing SPF*50* sunblock and *still* got a slight burn)

After a decent (FREE!) lunch with some Pointer's, we rode Blue Streak and Disaster Transport. Then I decided the sun was getting to me a bit TOO much, and left for a while. I went back to the room and napped, in fact. I also changed into jeans and grabbed a flannel shirt in anticipation of the weather cooling off. Then had a quick dinner, and went back to the park feeling energized.

Iron Dragon, Magnum (front seat -- what the heck), Troika, Chaos, and back in line for MF (first night ride -- truly incredible). Then the Summer Spectacular started -- I took this time to wander around taking pictures of the park all lit up, and got some VERY nice shots.

One token Mantis ride during the ERT, and one final late-night Magnum ride, and I decided to call it a day. Even with the late-afternoon break, that was a LOT of riding, and I went home today VERY happy.

Raptor Flights: 23

Your summary is similar to mine, except I didn't ride Wildcat, Chaos, or Troika. I rode PT down, MF 4x and Raptor 4x.
