Coming in 2018: An expanded beach boardwalk

XS NightClub's avatar

What is up with people wanting even more gates to enter the park?

There are two gates to the main park and one to CPShores accessible from the boardwalk.

There’s no need for another gate on the boardwalk near the main entrance gate or for one by LHP for easy access to SV either, what a waste of limited resources.

^^ A bathhouse or at least restrooms with stalls large enough to change in would be nice since they removed the bathroom access over by shores. I don't think there's anywhere for someone not staying on point to change by the beach without entering either of the parks anymore at least not one that's obvious.

A bathhouse, along with a beach bar, would be a very welcome addition. Currently, you would have to go into Breakers just to go to the restroom; and having the experience of taking a toddler that is a long walk. With CP doing more and more to embrace their Beach, the lake, and everything else around the area I think both of these would be needed additions.

More shops outside of the park would be nice as well, it would also create a bit of a pier experience without the crazy expense to construct one.

I would think with not being able to park at CP Shores for early entry during peak season or having cp shores lot full the boardwalk would help with that! Steel Vengence/ Maverick early entry! Just park in the main lot at 8:30 then walk the boardwalk to the Waterpark/ Resort gate and Bypass all the Front Gate people getting in!

Many people didn't suspect Dodgem or Calypso would get relocated, until it was announced during Winter Chill Out, just a couple months before the 2015 season opening.

You are talking about moving two flat rides across the park vs moving a roller coaster across the country. Not the same.

Other than a presentation CGA had of a roller coaster that looked a little like WT, there really is no other reason to think WT is leaving.

I think they'll simply run the boardwalk around Windseeker, past WT and GK and link up with the main lot. A relatively inexpensive addition that will improve beach access and give opportunities for same nice views.

Well for all you naysayers, Tony confirmed the AWE stadium is done as is Sandcastle.

So the obvious speculation then is the employee housing moves to where Sandcastle was, and then new attractions where the employee housing was.

I think that's a terrible loss for prime lakefront property.

Yes, it would be colossally stupid to put employee housing on the Sandcastle property.

Wow after all of the speculation about Sandcastle... they're not gutting it, they are demolishing it. Wonder if it will be more cabins or a new resort?

Interesting about oceania stadium (kylepark you were half right). Will they replace it with a new venue on the same spot or is there a larger plan? Hmmm.

This is exciting news, not in the SV kind of way, but the beach is going to be opened up more than it has been in many years.

I have no doubt that something will replace the stadium next year. AWE is too popular and they would be stupid to lose that. I think a venue like at KI near eiffel tower (name is slipping my mind) where they had the Hot Blooded show would be great for a location like that. It's open air, and a roof over the stage and seats so it won't be as impacted by weather. I think the replacement will be announced at WCO.

They have a very large infield in what will be a hugely popular ride...more than enough room for a stunt show. A good location for one too, I would think. Just saying...

I thought for sure the building which houses Deprivation would've been removed but since they just added a new haunt there, it doesn't seem likely. Although, Deprivation may just be a one year thing.

I would think if there was any plan to move employee housing to the Sandcastle location they would not bother demolishing the building. I also don't think they would waste that view on employee housing.

I have believed for a while that the stadium would come down and now it will.
I have also believed that a new coaster like Wildcat should be placed there.

If CP's going for 20 coasters by 2020, add a small one in 2019, and the inevitable one for 2020.

That makes 20 coasters (if you count Pipe Scream...)

Well everyone that complained about that stadium is getting their wish now. I bet everyone is jumping up and down now. The move about Sandcastle shocks me a little. I'm betting that will be home to new dorms in the future as someone else pointed out. I'm just happy they aren't taking down Rougarou. The reason I bring that up is because over the summer, a couple friends of mine said that don't get comfortable with it because it will be gone soon. Sounds like that was just a rumor.

Putting dorms in where Sandcastle is/was would be a shockingly bad move. That part of the peninsula deserves some type of overnight guest accommodations given the very scenic views of the lake and the relative quiet of that part of the peninsula. It would be a complete waste of land to create employee housing in that area, they have plenty of land for more dorms on the causeway where the present employee housing is. They should get all employee housing off the peninsula.

Damn you guys were right. Shortly after I defended the stadium, boom, news comes up that it's going bye bye. Lol RIP.

Didn't stop them from doing the same with Cedars. But honestly I can't imagine they would convert the hotel to dorms right now. Is there even a need for more?

I would think only enough to replace the capacity of Cedars. For when it inevitably faces the wrecking ball. But yeah, that can be handled by adding more dorms off-point.
