Coming in 2018: An expanded beach boardwalk

99er, the Sandcastle is being razed, it is not being repurposed for anything. Cedars was an old hotel they repurposed but obviously it isn't on the beach side. I wouldn't call Cedars prime resort real estate.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

Well this is depressing news. I will say I was wrong about the stadium staying. I will miss it greatly.

If the current structures are being removed then I seriously doubt the property would be used for new dorms, especially considering the amount of land the company owns around the First Street/River Ave areas. How did we even get the idea that dorms might be used on this land?

That said I actually would call the land that Cedars sits on as prime resort real estate. A 3 floor, upscale boutique style hotel at that location would be pretty nice.

There is absolutely no parking for any kind of a hotel where the Cedars sits. There is barely enough parking for the dockholders, not to mention a new hotel there.

I mean listen, they aren't going to bulldoze a hotel only to put another hotel there. Just upgrade the one you have!

Not that I am suggesting my idea is what the park is going to do in the future but if it could be done, using the footprint of the hotel you could have parking on the lowest level. Many small hotels do this here in Florida to maximize their small area on the beach. But my idea for building a hotel on the land Cedars occupies would not take up the same amount of land so you would have more space leftover for parking.

Hmmmm.... parking on the ground floor of a hotel, now where would someone get such an idea ???

I wonder.... where do they store all those boats in the off season??? Oh, that’s right they shelve them in racks.... crazy what kind of solutions can be found.

Vegas begs to differ with you.

So does Hotel Breakers. (At least 4 wings of it)

Vegas has experience with that though. They've been doing it for almost 100 years now.

Move cabins, build giant, 4 person water slides.

So does a company that's had a hotel on its property for over 100 years. And I'm sure Cedar Fair isn't going to start their own engineering firm and construction companies formed out of drop outs, rather they'll hire well accomplished companies of their respective fields.

They aren’t going to bulldoze a rollercoaster only to put another rollercoaster there. ;)

Side note: who thinks Tony was happy to release this information, so now PB can focus on something other than Staffing Nightmares?

I enjoy Pointbuzz more when the topics focus on attractions in the park rather than trying to figure out how to run the park (staffing).

See, I find the business side of things far more interesting than discussions about rides.

Brandon

I like both. Especially as one affects the other.

There also isn't much to talk about when an airplane lands safely.

It's impressive how fast the park is changing and overall improving. News like Sandcastle being demolished along with the stadium and adding a path to the beach from the main parking lot would be a solid off season. Instead all that is just a footnote next to SV and a Hotel Breakers expansion.

Feels like two off seasons in one. Hell I still haven't gotten used to the changes made last season!
